What's wrong with Guerrero as a tune up fight? He stood up to a hard puncher in Aydin. That's one guy who deserves a payday AND an ass whupping from Floyd.
Pacquiao>Bradley>Canelo>Martinez. I think that would be the perfect way to end his career (assuming all guys are still credible opponents and haven't gotten destroyed by anybody). All mega fights.
My preference: Bradley, Manny, Sergio/Chavez winner. My guess, Guerrero, Manny, Canelo.
While I see that as a good way to end it theoretically, I hope that doesn't happen. Sergio Martinez would be pushing 39-40 by the time Floyd fights those other guys. For Martinez, 38 is just around the corner .... you just don't know when a fighter turns old all of a sudden ... and he didn't look stellar in his last fight until his opponent tired out.
As for Canelo .... definitely needs to step up in his opponents beforehand.
No way beating two past prime fighters elevates him to top 5 status, no way.
So when was Sergio's prime then???? He's arguably and has shown that he's been better than past 2-3 years than ever.
I agree, there is NOTHING Floyd or Manny can do to get to Top 5 or even the Top 10.
But if Floyd were to beat Pac and Sergio, he'd enter the Top 20. Manny is past his prime-still good, coming off what should have been a comfortable win over a Top 10 P4P and unbeaten fighter. And Sergio is the #3 P4P fighter, and Floyd beating him at 154 would be great, 160 would be huge.
Alexander or Gurerro in December
Manny in April
Then go for history.challenge for the mw title in your last fight
how does that sound???
If I'm advising Floyd I'd say one or two more fights tops. He is clearly slowing, and he is going to want to go out on a high note. I'd hate to see a great fighter lose to a young kid just because he has slipped too far. I'd say Manny and/or Sergio and call it a day. And the Sergio fight will depend on how Floyd looks against Manny.
Floyd's not gonna take on these mega fighters he's gonna fight prime but limited fighters comming off a good win so he can make money.
Pac Bradley kinda people.
The days of him fighting people that can press him and are very good in their physical primes are gone he might fight a prime fighter but it's gonna be one he could beat like Ortiz for example
I means he's fought small to slow for him Marquez great fighter good still but really no threat Mosley old I thought he'd put up a better challenge but we all saw how he preformed after the Floyd fight badly so there wasn't much left but I'll give that to him good win.
Ortiz young after a great win over Berto but stupid with barley any boxing iq
Cotto has about as much left as Floyd does physically but his ring iq is what won him that fight look for him to fight another just like those big names with some stuff left but not enough to get the W
It's the same with PAC I'm not just knocking Floyd so don't think that but after all it is a Floyd thread.
I agree with some of the posters here. Many of Floyd's die hard fans don't realize how limited he is. They think Floyd can beat any fighter of any era at any age when he can't. Floyd is 35 and is not that active so there is no way he's moving up to middleweight and challenging Sergio for the middleweight title. I see Floyd fighting two more times tops, three is really pushing it. I think he'll fight Manny and Canelo then call it a career.
I doubt he ever fights at MW, because he's already too small for 154 to begin with. I could see Floyd fighting Sergio at 154 though, and it'd be a legit/huge fight.
Call me crazy, and I may end up being crazy, but I actually believe Floyd when he says he's going to stay busy and retire before he's 38. Hopefully that means 4 more fights.
Just a shake off the cob-webs kind of fight.
I could see Floyd fighting Garcia down the line, if he were to keep winning.
Say Garcia wins his Morales rematch in October, than were to able to grab a big win over the Matthysse/Olesegun winner in Feb/Mar 2013. Than, maybe he could fight the Judah/Peterson winner in the summer. And than perhaps, if he's still fighting then, a Marquez fight or even a Maidana or Alexander type fight.
I'm just saying if Garcia were to go on a big roll, and rack up wins over Khan/Matthysse/Judah/Peterson, I could see Floyd fighting him.

From this point on floyd will never fight a opponent that poses a real threat to him aka Sergio Martinez.
Floyd is many things but he aint dumb and he wont take great risks at this point of his career.
I expect him to fight manny and maybe canelo and call it a day, his promotion company are a sigh of what to come.
Floyd is not in it for greatness anymore, in his mind he is allreay the GOAT and as long as he stays undefeated he can convince him self.
Dont think for one second that he is going to fight 3 more fights just because the boxing fans want to see it.
Il bet my account that floyd never fights Martinez,or ward for that matter
He is on his way out folks
Seriously?

I doubt it. I say probably 1 or 2 more.
After the Cotto fight, in the interview he looked like he was tired of boxing and really wanted to retire. I think 2 more tops and he's done. Some people don't realize this, but Floyd IS old already.
36 is old for any athlete on any sport unless we're talking about Golf or Pro Wrestling. It's an age where many athletes are not only past prime, but most of them are even shot, even before that age. 36 is not an athlete's age. A select few make it look easy or where competitive at the top at that age, Foreman, Hopkins, Johnson, Mosley, Mayweather, Tarver, Wladimir, Vitali, Marquez.
It's really hard to fight at the top 5 level at this age but these guys did it/are doing it and I don't think they have much left. I expect Floyd to retire after 2 more fights. Remember, with Floyd, when you say 1 fight, we're talking about a year here, when you say 3 fights, that's 3+ years. And Floyd will not be fighting at 39-40, if he is, then it's because he's obsessed with the sport, not money. He most likely has enough money right now for his grandkids to live a comfortable life. To stay in the shape he's in at this age, you really have to love the sport. If he was only in it for the money, you could tell by the way he's training. But instead all you hear is boxers who visit his gym, amazed at how hard he works and he makes any one who watches him train, feel like a lazy couch potato. Fighters like Ashely Theopane and Andre Dirrell both said the same exact thing about how hard Floyd works out.
