I am not saying that Judah was not hurt, and I am not saying that he would have beaten Tszyu. Actually, more than likely, Judah would have been out of there in the 3rd round.
But there are a couple of things that bother me with the stoppage.
1st - It was the very end of the round, and Judah would have had a minute to recover.
2nd - Although Judah fell, and was wobbly, he clearly had his wits, and knew what was going on. His body didnt immediately respond to what his head was thinking, but I think he was NEARLY clear headed.
3rd - Once Nady saw Judah fall, he immediately waved the fight off, instead of giving Judah the benefit of the doubt IN A CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT. Judah jumped right back up after he fell back down, and was clear headed enough to argue his point that the fight shouldnt have been stopped.
I just wish we could have seen more of that fight, and what would have happened with Judah getting the 1 minute of recovery time.
Judah CLEARLY dominated the 1st round, and Tszyu clearly dominated the 2nd round. I would have liked to see the fight go on just a little bit more.

I agree. Zab was hurt no doubt, but I think if he had stayed down or taken a knee before jumping straight back up he might have been able to get his legs back together. Might is the key word.
Good stoppage can't work out what is more funny the people who thought the fight should go on or the people who actually think Zab would have come back into the fight.
If your reaction to getting knocked down is jumping right back up shouting nonsense to the ref then falling back down that's kind of an obvious indication you are out of it.
I just love the argument.. "He wasnt hurt he just fell again". :|.... what?
When it's a flash knockdown they get up perfectly fine. Judah landed flat on his back, head hit the floor...got up acting weird as hell, and fell bad.. And to those saying "I mean Kostya woulda stopped him next round but still".. That's EXACTLY what the ref is trying to avoid. Zab was hurt.
Good point on the Kahn thing..cuz he recovered in that minute and didnt get the hell beaten out if him for his troubles. :P
Why does Nady get some props from fans when many fighters who were asked to comment on the fight ridiculed him after this stoppage?
Like parents, fans just don't understand!
geez us christ already, Nady stopped the fight because he felt Judah couldn't safely continue. I totally agree as should anyone who cares about this sport!
its judahs fault for getting up too early.. but it was the biggest fight of his career at that point, so of course hewas anxious. It was a learning experience. But i agree, Judah was not THAT badly hurt, but Nady had no choice because of the way judah reacted to the KD.
Just keep it real. Stop saying Judah would've been damaged, he could've died, or he would've been permanently hurt, lmao.
Kostya beat Sharmba Mitchell up much worse.
Hell, Vince Phillips had Kostya slumped in the corner with a look of death, and you guys are exaggerating the results of one shot. Judah made the mistake of getting up while badly dazed.
If they let it go on it may have been a career stopper. Now if Judah didn't jump up and he took a nine count and regained his legs here is a possibility he might have gone on but he didn't.
There's no way that was an early stoppage.
The round was over, and Nady stopped the count at 4. How is stopping at 4 not an early stoppage? Was Zab not coherent enough to argue his point immediately after the stoppage?
Why not give him the benefit of the doubt, and let him go on to the 3rd round?
Face it brah...not one agrees with you. Judah got waxed and did the corky dance while trying to beat the count :boxing:
Who said he didnt get caught, and get "waxed"? As a matter of fact, I said that Judah would have went on to get knocked out in the 3rd, but that the stoppage was early, and he should have been given the benefit of the doubt due to it being a HUGE CHAMPIONSHIP fight. Plus the round was over, and he would have had a minute to recover.

There are a few here who agree that the stoppage was premature homey!
So youre saying, that with a minute to rest, there is no way Judah could have continued?
I even said in my first post, that Judah would have probably been KO'd in the 3rd, but the fact that it was a HUGE fight at the time, and it was a CHAMPIONSHIP FIGHT, with the round already being over, Judah should have been allowed to go back to his corner and come back in the 3rd.

Watching from outside the ring, fans can come up with all of the right answers. But in that square circle, you don't know how you will react.
Everyone wont be calm, cool and collected after being put down with a monster shot. Judah got up went down, got up wobbly from a hellacious shot.
Still Nady owed him an 8 count. Berbick being a veteran boxer and champion was flopping around the ring like a fish out of water and Mills Lane counted, and gave Berbick every chance to survive.
If a ref starts a count, he should finish his count unless the fighter looks out, truly hurt or totally unable to continue. You give yourself room to judge the fighter.
No, but I didn want Judah to at least have a chance to come back from the knock down. the round was over, and Zab was a lot less hurt than other fighters have been in the past, and other fighters were given the opportunity to continue to fight.
And lets not act like Tzsyu couldnt be knocked out. Old ass, slow, and no better than decent, Vince Phillips knocked him out.
I dont think Zab Judah was coming back did you?
First understand that the referee is to busy doing his job to know how much time remains in the round. Second, a fighter not only has to beat the count but also show the ref he is fit to continue. Judah fell twice but he was up from the second fall down by about the count of 6. He beat the count so the ref could have let the fight go on. It's up to the ref. I think the ref saw Judah woppling all over the place and decided he was unfit to continue even though he beat the count. I think the ref made the right call. A deadly puncher like Tszyu could have done some real harm in the next few seconds.
Did you want Judah to be beat worse?

Why are people bringing up the Tyson\Berbick fight, when its the same situation. The only difference is that Mills Lane couldn't stop the fight while Berbick was floundering around the ring.
If you watch the video, Mills Lane counted to six as Berbick fell for a third time, and continued to count before stopping it.
The same should have been done for Judah.
