I watched it the night it was on. Katisidis doesn't get as consistently close Hatton to smother his opponent, nor does he have the offensive footwork. Like Marquez he's also a natural 135lb fighter, Hatton is a 140lber. Hatton leans on his opponent, ties them and (in his prime) is generally relentless. It's also worth noting Kats was decent v Marquez and dropped him at one point.
If you're a boxing fan you'll know styles make fights and that triangle theories don't hold much water.
hatton WAS a natural 140lb fighter. did you see him on the scales for malignaggi and pacquiao? he looked like a zombie. if he does come back it wont be at 140. he will fight malignaggi for a belt at 147. if he fights marquez he will be going home with another loss on his record. the gap in technical ability between hatton and marquez is massive. and its almost pointless knocking marquez down, he just gets back up!
also a little birdy tells me hatton is still going out on the piss, so how serious is he?
It goes similarly to Marquez-Diaz, except with more clinching and I think Hatton has a little more success do to his better punching power and physical strength. Dinamita counters him with something hard eventually though and puts him out. Very good scrap though.
Marquez makes him rethink his entire life choices and ultimately tko's him in the mid rounds
It would be significantly easier than people thinkk
Marquez would make Hatton give up on his religious beliefs.
prime to prime at 140. hatton would swallow and walk thru marquez. he would wrestle marquez. floyd even had a tough time hurting hatton at 147 with those super clean shots how much more marquez at 140? floyd just had a great defense, footwork and inside game and too fast thats why he's able to handle prime hatton easily. marquez dont possess any of that. he's a solid puncher at 140 and below and has great counterattacks and has pacquiao's number but he aint beating hatton.
watch the katsidis fight.

Manny Pacquiao was unable to dominate JMM in 3 fights. What makes you think Hatton would?

You're describing a version of JMM I haven't watched (and I've seen quite a few of his fights).
JMM likes to stand in front of his opponent, box and counter-punch. How does he deal with an opponent leaning on his chest all night stopping him from getting off?
Triangle theory? JMM would catch Hatton on the way in, everyone catches Hatton on the way in but the only time it has bothered Hatton is against Pacquiao and Marquez just doesn't have that kind of power.
It's difficult to know where Hatton is at right now in terms of punch resistance but IMO this is a fight made for him.
I don't agree with the hugging part but I do agree the ref has a role to play. If it's reffed like a corrupt Cortez or an interfering Pabon seperating the fighters wherever possible then I see Marquez outboxing Ricky, but a Smoger who lets fighters fight then Hatton dominates.
watch the katsidis fight.
would have loved to see this fight a few years ago. but now, not so much.
if it does happen, which i think i would have more chance of winning the lottery than this fight happening, iv got marquez fairly easily.

Not gonna' argue w/you about this point as I don't wanna' dog your favourite fighter. I'll just say that I didn't like the way he got the win over Kostya Tzu.
jmm has never beaten anyone as big and as strong as hatton in his entire carreer...jmm would'nt be able to keep hatton off of him..close fight but i got hatton by decison
Weebler, no inside skills???? I realize Hatton is your favorite fighter but you're better than that! Inside is where JMM prefers to fight and is most effective. Inside is where JMM applies what Lampley refers to as his craft. If this fight happens, Hatton will have his moments but JMM wins a close but deserved decision 116-113.

JMM counters Hatton into submission. He would rush in and get tagged on the way in. JMM all the way. Even this version of Marquez would whip him. He arguably beat Pacquiao who flattened hatton. Come on man!

Some of Hattons inside game is to rush in, hit and then grab, so the ref is gonna' play a big part in this fight. How much hugging is he gonna' permit?
