You can't criticize someone for not fighting on due to a serious injury. Yes, other fighters have continued, but that doesn't create some kind of unwritten rule that means everybody should. An idiotic argument.
Do you know for certain that Ortiz wasn't injured in the 2nd round? No. Do all fighters who have suffered a broken jaw have their mouth hang open like that immediately? No. So, who are you to say that it wasn't broken then?
It's plausible that it was, and was then damaged even further leading up to the point where it was just gaping open and he couldn't take any more. Your opinion is purely speculation, yet you present it like it's a historical fact that is beyond question. Seems to me like you just want to trash the guy for whatever reason, and you're clinging on to some ridiculous ideal that fighters should go beyond the physical limits of their bodies or risk being labelled a quitter.
i can say for certain that the extent of the damage didnt occur in the second. he might have hurt his jaw, but the castrophic injury, the one that caused him to stop fighting, didnt happen in the second.
he was not bleeding like that for 7 rounds. did you see him leaking blood at the end of the fight?
that stuff would be all over the ring. you cannot swallow that much blood (an arterial bleed for 7 rounds plus the minute rest..) he would have been spitting it out all over the ring.

And you sound like you are willing to believe anything that makes it seem like Ortiz did not quit. I don't believe a word his people are saying, because just like with the Mayweather fight it changes every time they talk about it. The night of the fight Ortiz said it happened in the 9th. The next day the 7th. A week later the 5th. Latest I saw they were saying the 4th. Why would I believe that?
Fighters get criticized for not fighting through injuries all the damn time. In a sport where the goal is to punch another guy until he can not stand up in 10 seconds, injuries are always a factor and are constantly being fought through. Based on how you are treating this, you would probably be shocked to see all the things that are always wrong with boxers physically. It's unfortunate, but it's reality.
Ortiz has quit in one fight, fouled the f*** out of a guy and possibly quit in another, and then this happens where his jaw is broken and he is screaming from his corner for the ref to come over so he can quit again. Damn right he will be criticized. He should be.

It is a MRI isn't it? Or a 3-d model based off an MRI.
i'd guess that that's exactly what it is. somebody speculated that it was a model / artistic rendition of many x rays
it's his skull, no doubt. you can see the damage to the nose, his trademark eyebrows and the way his mouth protrudes. it's ortiz.
Does it really freaking matter? seriously. "How it was fractured but not broken till the last 20 sec. so he dont really have that much heart" is what you sound like.
But you dont know for sure. So stop talking out your A$$.
i am not talking out of my ass. and i do know for sure that his jaw was more damaged in the 9th than it was in the second. you should too
listen to what im saying:
the damage to ortiz jaw was very much evident at the end of the final round. that's the first time he could not close his mouth. that was the first time he was literally leaking blood. he couldnt talk. his neck / jaw swelled up almost immediately.
that did not happen in the second round. if you want to belive his team (people in boxing lie ALL THE TIME,) then be my guest. i dont give a damn about you or what you think. i've spent a lot of time learning about boxing. i generally dont have to talk out of my ass. if i need to, i'll shut up and learn something instead of opening my mouth.
the best evidence was the profuse bleeding. you would have noticed that. he did not swallow all of that blood for seven rounds. you either swallow it, spit it out, or it will pool in your mouth and run down your throat
i'm telling you that his brutal injury, which totally legitimizes quitting in my opinion, given the severity, did not happen in the second round. it didn't happen in the second round.
when do you see me say "ortiz has no heart?"
hmm?
i said that his team embellished the timeline of the injury to save face and make it appear that ortiz has more heart than he does. if he was jaw was injured in the second round, it was not to the extent that that it was at the end of the fight. if you cant recognize that i can do nothing for you.
I didn't realise every broken jaw was exactly the same as the next one....thank you Dr House. I suppose you would have fought on too? I mean, who wouldn't risk their health to avoid being called a coward by an armchair critic?
I never said I would fight on, and I never called him a coward. That's always the first thing you people say. Guess what? Victor Ortiz is a professional boxer, it's his job. Fighters have fought through broken jaws, broken hands, injured shoulders, broken ribs, broken ankles, broken bones in their feet, they fight through sh** like Ortiz had all the damn time.
When there is a long, long, long list of fighters in the history of boxing that have fought through bad injuries, a guy who doesn't even try to fight through a broken jaw is going to be rightly criticized. Sorry if that ruins everyone's little ass kissing thread here.
LOL at this circle jerk of a thread. Yeah, a broken jaw is going to look bad on X-ray. And obviously that isn't an X-ray.
Doesn't change that the man quit, and that they spun the f*** out of it to make it seem like he broke it really early in the fight to make him not look like he quit.
Ortiz quit. Considering Mathebula broke his jaw a couple weeks later and went out like and gave his all trying to win, Ortiz looks even worse.

What a bunch of jerkoff's, that is not an X-ray, MRI or a CT scan, looks like a solid model picture, but some of you clowns can take it as gospel, after all it is on the internet and everything on the internet is true, BONJOUR
AU REVOIR, the kind of software that is available to produce a 3-d image from an x-ray or MRI isn't even new bro. Try and keep up.

They lost 132-08 in overtime, with 5 field goals for Bret "Hitman" Hart and 32 home runs for Ben Johnson.

Whoa! That's gotta hurt like hell
Where's all the trolls who were calling Ortiz a quitter now?
Big enough men to say "I would have fought on" or "it don't hurt that bad, he just wanted out" but not big enough men to admit they were being hysterical retards. B!tches. Every last one of them.i quit an amateur fight with a broken jaw. i was literally sucking on jello and mcdonalds french fries for weeks after.
