I keep hearing how Chavez Jr is meant to have this granite chin hes inherited from his father. What are you basing this off?
How the fcuk can you say he has a granite chin when he has never faced a world class puncher?
Andy Lee has good power but its far from great.
Rubios power looks very good on paper but in reality he isn't much of a puncher either.
Lee actually stunned Chavez Jr a few times as did Zbik who is a pretty weak puncher. Zbik also showed me this guys bodypunching isn't what its made out to be either.
I think there is this big misconception due to his lack of defense & I don't think for one minute he will be able to take Sergios power.
I mean I've heard it before with the iron chinned Paul Williams & Dzinzuruk who had never been before amateur or pro or in sparring.
Sergio is going to break his face. You'll see the difference between a neat puncher in Lee & an exceptional puncher with K.O power in both hands that fires from the craziest angles in Sergio.
Can not wait to see the look on Chavez Snrs face. :boxing:

Duddy shook him a bit.

Chavez jr has pretty horrible defense, he's been getting away with it because he hasn't fought any fast guys with accuracy and power. I can really see it as the biggest HBO PPV mistmatch since Gatti vs. Mayweather.
Another thing is Chavez doesn't have big 1 punch power, I don't see any way he can beat Martinez.
Yeah he's got a very good chin for a middleweight. The reason is probably being because he's a light heavyweight who cheats to make weight.
The man is huge compared to his opposition. When he fights Sergio it's going to look like a light heavyweight/cruiser fighting a light middleweight. I still think Sergio has too much class and wins despite the size disparity.
chavez jr showed a pretty good chin against john duddy..eventhough duddy wasn't a huge puncher he still landed some hard shots on chavez jr and jr reacted pretty well against those punches. but definitely i predict martinez will put chavez jr's chin to the test.
stop your babling, has Chavez jr ever hit the canvas ?
Who has he fought that could have put them their? And does Sergio do something deadily everytime he faces adversity?...I ask u a question, just like u asked a question...Chavez hasnt fought anyone...I will answer my own question...everytime Sergio faces adversity, he makes u pay...He did it two fights in a row,...Barker broke his nose, and Sergio elevated to the next level, and busted his eardrum...Macklin did well, and Sergio KO'd him for it...Pwill beat Sergio, and Sergio made him pay instantly in the rematch...Chavez has no expirience, but if he gives Sergio ANY PROBLEMS, Sergio will KO him, he has that true champion attribute where he rises to the occasion when he faces adversity...When Sergio is in trouble, thats when he is most dangerous...the championship moments, is when Chavez will see the best of Sergio, cuz Sergio has a history of doing this...he did it two fights in a row, which is almost astonishing...these types of things normally happen rarely...Sergio has been doing it allot lately
well he has a good chin that's for sure...whether it's as good as his father's remains to be seen.
i didn't really see a lot of people claiming he has a granite chin in the first place to warrant a thread like this.
He outweights his opponents drastically so you can't really judge his judge chin that well. He definitely walks through his opponents though, and he inherited his dad's genetics so there's good chance he's solid.
Yeah, I keep hearing that Jr has an incredible chin, but I can't understand where it's come from. He walked through Lee's shots pretty easily, but Lee isn't an amazing puncher, and never seemed to be putting his weight into his shots, from what I remember.
I think Jr will struggle to take Martinez's power if he starts getting caught clean with those left hands...

Been saying it since the day the fight announced, not many fighters can take a flush Maravilla straight left. I don't think Chavez Jr. will be an exception.

Great comment, and makes me laugh, cuz I never thought of it this way, but it would be funny if this turned out to be a mismatch in favor of Sergio,...not only that, but same day weigh ins...man Chavez is going to be dry and drained skinny man...just like Sergio vs pavlick
He seems to have a very good chin but as you say he has never been hit as hard and as often as Martinez will likely hit him. The Martinez fight should answer all questions about his chin. If he can't take lots of Martinez's bombs then he will probably get KOed.
Problem is that Jr is not very good at distance and will have to try and get inside close on sergio.
But Sergio`s style of bending at the waist and use superior foot work will difuse jr`s chances of landing anything solid to the body and when he goes for the head sergio is not there.
AT the same time sergio will time and ajust his punched and chope down and bruise jr until his farthe throws in the towel.
Or sergio simply knockes hi the **** out
wow i can already see all the excuses ya'l ***ets will make when jr fuk sergio in the A$$
No excuse will be heard from me, I do not have a single doubt in my mind that Sergio will brutalise this kid.
Its not a good idea to p1ss Sergio Martinez off, Chavez Jr will find out the hard way.
