Pop Garcia and Danny Garcia's ring IQ?
For some reason, people are talking about an epic asswhupping from Kahn until he got tagged, but other than the opening round, Garcia was putting the more serious hands on Kahn, which led to his downfall.
Kahn was blitzing Garcia with right hands in the first round, and by the time the second was there, Garcia nearly neutralized the right hand and was landing some mean counters.
Pop Garcia gave pretty good instructions and necessary motivation.
When Kahn was reeling, instead of going all Alfred Angulo on Kahn, Danny took his time, threw that overhand right on Kahn until he was finally finished.
This kid and his pop didn't win this by luck, there was some serious ring IQ being displayed that allowed Danny to adjust in-fight and in between rounds.
His dad is annoying as f*ck, but was prepared. Still happy at the outcome...me and some of my buddies rooting for Danny were ecstatic. Bring on JMM.
Fam, I know about them old heads, pop just a loose cannon and annoying to me. Maybe its because my mom took me and my sis out the hood and I have a different worldview, I don't know. But he's a clown to me outside of when he's working with his son, with that being said...
But when sh*t got real in the fight, pops buckled down and led his son to victory. It actually was pretty inspiring stuff.
Plus, I'm still not feeling the way he disrespected Morales
Anyone disrespecting Morales at this stage, be it trainer or young fighter, deserves less than no respect. In fact, they deserve pure disdain. A young hothead like Khan can be lured into a brawl with all the racist BS that Garcia was spouting but you don't take that route against someone like Morales. The guy is a legend and would have definitely been a big inspiration to a young, growing Danny Garcia.
Even someone like Floyd and Roger knew that JMM was deserving of great respect and they showed it. Guys like Angel Garcia are not deserving of what he currently has in his son.
surely you cannot be serious
do you guys acutally believe that freddie roach is a bad trainer or are you just trying to have fun, and poke fun at pacquiao to push an agenda?
serious question:
do you guys actually think roach is a bad trainer, or the reason khan lost last night?
I remember Roach saying it himself but, one of HBO's commentators also pointed out that it was Roach's desire for Khan to fight more flat-footed rather than his usual style. Which Khan was doing.
I wouldn't say "bad" trainer, as I don't exactly know what a trainer of that level is suppose to do but the amount of genius-like praise he gets when his fighters win shouldn't make his reputation untouchable when his fighters lose.
Especially when he runs his mouth about knocking opponents out before the fight.
In the end, Khan got caught and the loss goes on his boxing record, not Roach's.

You gotta blame Khan more than Freddie but it seems like the gameplan was to for the KO early and he didn't have Khan ready to fight a defensive fight. People are saying he was getting tagged in sparring. That's on Freddie
Best thread and post i have seen in a long time, I was shocked at how calm and intelligent Garcia was in the first three rounds, Even when Khan was all over him he use his timing and boxing brains well for a 24 year old who hasn't fought that much at the top, That for me was the biggest thing I saw in the fight, Even his dad was impressive in the corner, am more impress looking back at the fight, He did everything a fight of Khan calibre should be doing while Khan did the exact opposite lol.
As brutal as it is and as sick as it sounds, that is mesmerizing to watch when a fighter has that "tree toppling over" type fall to the canvas.
ever knocked anybody out?
Danny Garcia has a very high ring I.Q. for his age, the complete opposite of amir khan and his coaching team. ppl hate pop garcia for good reason too, but he definitely out planned freddy roach last nite.

Notice how Garcia doesn't jump on Khan right away but lets him fall to the canvas peacefully. He knew what he was doing, timed that shot real nice.

It was a rather brutal deconstruction. Garcia took the 1st to observe the speed, the 2nd to get the timing, and in the 3rd it was over. Great display of timing beating speed.
"Lucky Punch" is bull****.
Khan showed good snap in the first two rounds, and the most promising part of that was the cut over the eye (and the potential stoppage that could have resulted in). He popped some good straight lefts in the third to target that cut.
Problem is Danny was popping good, concise counters. There was nothing lucky about that knockout, and he closed the fight out like a cool killer.
People might be getting carried away I think. Khan fought last night the exact same as he did in the sparring videos they showed on sky sports. Reckless and in a style that constantly got him countered. Khans sparring partner would have knocked him out without headgear on as much as he was tagging Amir. Had Amir followed the fight plan of using his jab and actually boxing Danny I think he would have had any easy night of it. Danny did nothing besides hitting a guy who was wide open who underestimated him. Just like sparring.
Garcia did a great job timing Khan's shots and countering with big shots of his own, even though most of his work was ignored by Lampley. You could see him leaning to his left and preparing his beg left hook counter.
I'm getting sick of lamply

Dude is a great counter puncher like marquez.
dont ever fcking say that in your life again. Garcias way of countering is lower your head throw a looping ass hook and hopes it lands. Just look at the first ko
