who wins...a prime calzaghe vs andre ward???? how would froch fair against a prime calzaghe??? also why isn't calzaghe considered a super middle weight great by many???:boxing:
calzaghe is a fighter that is underrated and a few opponents have said he slap's hard!!! calzaghe beats both ward and froch and every other super middle ;)

Calzaghe beats Ward due to Calazage’s work rate... Froch finds it hard to win against fighters who got excellent lateral movement.. I was never a Calzaghe fan but realized once he retired how good the guy was...
great comment!!! agree 100% though i watched nearly all his fights
Would be surprised if Calzaghe won a single round
I thought you were sensible????
Calzaghe should go down as one of the very greatest fighters of the era. Unorthodox? Yes, and some may also question his resume. Doesn't take away from the fact that he's probably one of the most adaptable boxers who ever lived. I do not think more than five fighters in history could match him for work rate either.
Ward dominates him, Kessler put up a good fight against Calzaghe, And Kessler is not even close to being on Wards level.
Don't be so negative. Kessler put up a good fight for the first 4 rds only. Until Calzaghe figured him out and beat him decisively. He adapts excellently as needed
And we didn't see him even near his peak, except through some youtube.

I think it would be a sporting bet on Calzaghe against almost anybody except Roy Jones. He has the talent to turn it up and up as needed and is completely fearless. Not to mention he has a first class chin.
Calzaghe's an excellent fighter, he's better than he gets credit for and has an difficult style for his opponents'. Except for the lack of credit. the same can be said for Ward. Calzaghe and Ward are great at controlling range and pace, so whoever's able to impose their style on the other (for 7 out of 5 rounds) wins.
I think Calzaghe wins the fight on the outside and pushes Ward back in the process, but eventually, Ward maneuvers himself consistently to the inside, roughs him up, and wins the majority of the rounds.
Calzaghe receives plenty of hate because people like to hate on the next man and their success, they'll look for reasons to hate. In Calzaghe's case though, Joe did waste 8 years of his title reign, which can be almost infuriating for people (including myself) that want to see the best fight the best, but he closed his career strong by facing the best opponents (sans Chad Dawson) and retired. Good luck to him in his retirement
I really like Ward and consider him the current #1 but Calzaghe would give him trouble. He has (or had) too much movement, doesn't get frustrated, doesn't tire, and his workrate is unsurpassed. Not to say it wouldn't be a tough fight, but I think Calzaghe is just a bad style for Ward.

Ward by a wide, wide margin. 117-111 type of fight.
People give Joe valid criticism for fighting cans over a decade long stretch. Think about that for a second, over 10 years of fighting average guy's.
I swear some people overrate Ward. He's good, but he's not great. Calzaghe is a great fighter, and a complete fighter, even though his style is somewhat odd. Ward wouldn't even be favored against Dawson.
all time great @ 168!!!!
Calzaghe is the best SMW of all time. A wide UD for Joe.
true, true and true, as always sense is spoken...al;l the haters calling him calslappy would soon get fed up of being slapped by him and according to certain opponents he slaps damn hard too!!!! joe is the best in the divisions history and beats both ward and froch...his workrate alone is enough to give any1 nightmares ...nite :boxing:
all time gr6 @ 168!!!
Calzaghe also beats Froch by UD. in my opinion. I can't speak for others but I think he is an all time great at 168.
totally agree..his work rate alone is enough to give any fighter nightmares:boxing:
Calzaghes style is really hard to deal with for anyone.
Ward for sure is going to be regarded as the greater smw when all is said and done, but right now i think Calzaghe is the better fighter. Who knows though. It could change as we see more.
