I disagree. I think Ward believed Bute was getting the easy way to the top. The Super 6 guys all beat up one another then hejust swoops in and taes on the winner? Ward didn't like that and wanted Bute to prove himself. Which he didn't. Nah man that just some bull**** for the media. Why did he say he'd be willing to fight Chavez Jr? Is Chavez a proven fighter? :lol1: Wake up, it's all about $$$. "Bute needs to prove himself" means "Bute needs to raise his profile so our fight would be even bigger down the line".

Bute's fanbase were pretty much the only people disputing that fact Bute doesn't even have a fanbase like that. Half of his "fans" on this forum were really just Ward/Black American haters.

What it says is the difference in class , that it dont take much in a drop of class to make a big impact in the fight , the difference between an elite fighter and a 10 rounder is really only small but in the fight its huge , its like a race horse that runs second all the time in the group one races and then you lower the grade just a little and it romps home .

I don't think Ward would be able to dismantle Bute in the same impressive fashion that Froch did. He doesn't have the style or power to do it. I think Ward would decisively beat Bute, but styles make fights so I don't think that the way Froch beat Bute says anything about Ward that we don't already know. Honestly, I still wouldn't mind seeing Ward vs Bute after a tuneup. I still consider a Bute a top 3-4 super middleweight. What else is there for Ward at 168? He's making Dawson come down to 168 so it doesn't seem like Ward really wants to move up to 175 anytime soon. This is False

I just don't understand why people are still saying Ward ducked Bute. Ward wanted Bute to earn a fight with him, Bute felt entitled to fight the very best after beating nothing but C level fighters his whole career. Ward wanted Bute to prove he was worthy. Bute stepped up to prove himself and got absolutely destroyed, the fight wasnt even competitive. This is exactly what Ward has been talking about, Bute isn't worthy, Ward wants the best and is fighting the best. And now Ward is fighting a top 3 LHW in Dawson, he'll clear out the LHW division if he decides to move up IMO.

But here is the problem, just completely disregard that Bute shut out very good fighters in Sakio Bika and Glen Johnson, knocked out Andrade and Miranda, and manhandled outmatched opponents like Magee and Zuniga like he was supposed to. Just disregard these wins because he just lost a fight, call him hypejob, bum, never was any good just because of a loss. Then turn around and say this was a great win for Froch. Seriously, Carl Froch just beat an elite fighter in Lucian Bute, don't take credit away from the win by saying Bute is a hypejob. The truth is, to beat Johnson and Bika the way Bute did, you HAVE to be either a VERY good fighter or an elite fighter. At least Bute is one of those too. And Froch beat him. Ward is not that good If you think he has the balls or power to stop a Bute in 5 rounds your kidding yourself. Pretty much. And he was righ sayin Bute had to prove himself instead of just waiting in the wings and getting the winner of the Super 6. This is right on point. Why should a guy who fought nobody while everyone else in the division was fighting each other, all of a sudden be in position to fight the man at that weight?

If Bute was in Super Six he was probably knocked out in couple fights and dropped out of the tournament. Kessler and Froch should do it again. And imo Dawson is the only who could beat Ward yeah I think Bute could only beat Abraham and Taylor he would have lost to the rest

No, it proved that Froch was better than Bute. Who's to say Ward would beat Bute cleanly? We don't know til it happens. it also proves that ward is un disputed number 1 and that froch is #2. ppl can say ward vs. bute would be a different fight. sure, but has bute done anything to even deserve a fight with ward? has bute done anything that tells us that fight will be competitive? this fight does tell us that bute was overhyped and that hes not the elite fighter anyone thought he was. and with that, it means ward is by far the best smw in the world undisputedly.

Don't see how this makes Ward any more proven? Froch already proved what he was about, and Ward already beat the second best 168 (Kessler) since Calzaghe retired. Ward is undisputed king of 168 though. Hopefully he can fight Dawson next. Definitely looking forward to Ward-Dawson... but I would have certainly liked to have seen Ward-Dirrell.
