Alright I havent seen it in a while so I loaded up the DVR and watched it.
And.................
Im sorry Floyd whacked him pretty good but he couldve got his ass up and fought on. Period.
That punch crushed his spirit more than anything. I know they hurt the worst when you dont see em coming but cmon Victor.
He quit imo. He most likely wouldnt finished the round anyway but he couldve got up imo.
I don't think he wanted out he was coming on strong at the end of that round he was losing but he was still making Floyd uncomfortable. But that right hand Floyd hit him with was a titanic shot on a man who wasn't braced for it and had no guard up Floyd put all his weight into that if Ortiz did get up he woulda been beaten to a pulp and possibly put to sleep.
nah, he has a pretty crap chin, about the same as khan, average. punched clean and was relaxed, not expecting it, he was out.
What??? Your joking right?
Have you seen some of the punches this man took? And got up from? Khan would have died ...
Even though I don't think he was doing really badly in the fight. I do think he somewhat "quit". He was losing but he also was getting in some shots. He seemed very chagrined by the headbutt and then maybe he chastised himself too much afterward. He left himself wide open. Floyd's first left was not a big KO punch and Ortiz still had a little time to put up his guard, but he didn't and allowed Floyd to land a bigger punch.
It didn't seem big enough to put him completely out. I think he quit in some kind of self-punishing way but as other posters have also said, he has quit before so he is no stranger to it.
I don't think the action of him not getting up means he quit. I think Mayweather rocked him pretty bad.
If I'm gonna say that Ortiz quit, it would be based on the action of him headbutting Mayweather. That could've been his way out of the fight.
Ortiz was looking for a way out,,,,
If he had continued,, floyd would have stopped him in 8 or 9 rounds,,,
Floyd couldnt miss the guy, it was like ortiz was blocking punches with his face,,,
He dosen't seem to have the instinct to go on fighting whatever happens. He showed it against Maidana and against Floyd. When something unexpected happens and you have no time to think you just act on instinct and his instinct wasen't to leave everything in the ring.
I don't think it's something you can learn it's just fight or flight response. Guys like Margarito (even though he is a cheater) keeps fighting no matter what and some guys, like Ortiz take the easy way out. It's just who the are deep down.
Yes. He could have made it up but thought maybe it was best to take the count and say he was suckered. RJJ said once a guy quits, it's always in his mind. Did it before, did it then, did it after.
I consider the last headbutt he threw to be quitting. Same as Tyson biting Evander. You can't win doing something ridiculous like that so doing it is equivalent to quitting and just getting in one last F you.
Good point. It was a lunging headbutt.

I agree he was hurt far worst in the Berto knock down. It was an easy way out he knew he was suckered punch and would blame floyd for the bout's bizzare ending, take 5 million home and his stock dosn't drop because he's basically stating he lost because of a sucker punch
i think he coulda fought on if he wanted to, but he knew what woulda happened if the fight went on...Only Ortiz knows for sure but I think the same thing.
It was a great punch, but I just didn't see the characteristics of a 1 punch KO kind of punch.
Leading me to believe either A) Victor was in shock with the gravity of the situation and blanked out. B) Victor quit.

In short, yes he did. Losing your cool in the ring and headbutting out of anger and frustration, when of all the fights in your career you are in the biggest and hardest, is basically quitting.
I don't know about "QUITTING" but I think he was getting Frustrated because despite the Flurries and the cheering from the Crowd, he really wasn't landing anything damaging to Mayweather and Mayweather was laughing at him and Ortiz lost it
So no I don't think he quit, but I think he found out the hard why how hard it is the hit Mayweather clean and I think Mayweather was about to Pick Ortiz apart and Ortiz eyes was starting to swell
I like Ortiz...he is a little Weird but he has some talent and he has some Power, I think 154-160 is probably the Division he SHOULD BE IN though, I would love to see Ortiz in the mix in that 154 Division and build up maybe a big time showdown with Canelo one day
It's dirty, but not cheap. Cheap is what Floyd did, deceiving his opponent into an embrace only to judas him when he wasn't looking.
I suppose him getting up after it was acting too...
Doesn't really make sense when he was having his best round.
how many time was he going to hug :chickenboy:
yes hatton was acting when he got up
but he was still losing the fight and the round imo
not really!
br0, it's a yes or no question.
Do you Puga, take Emmanuel "Manny" Derpadrain Pacquiao, to be your lawful wedded lover, to live in the holy estate of d1ck ridingony? Will you love, honor, comfort and cherish Manny through the bullsh1t excuses, the countless catch weight fights and the absolute ass kicking he got from a 38 year old lightweight, forsaking all others keeping only unto him for as long as you both shall live, or he retires and you ride another Filipino fighter's d1ck?
