What's wrong with Chicago? I'm from Chicago and I think the biggest fight we had was where Paulie Malignaggi Vs Juan Diaz 2 and Victor Ortiz was on the undercard. I didn't even get to go to that fight because I couldn't take off work.
Most of the fights we have are at the UIC pavilion which is decent.
But I think we need more fights in Chicago, we have the united center, All state arena, wrigelyfield, u.s cellular field.
Any people from Chicago agree with me!!?
I wish Ortiz vs Berto 2 was in Chicago instead of staples =(

Completely random, one of my favorite boxers is Germaine Sanders. I really enjoyed watching his bouts, good technique and was fluent in the ring.
Anyway, I have no clue why Chicago doesn't have big events. Maybe boxing doesn't really have a market there between the Bulls, Sox, Cubs, Blackhawks, and Bears....?
Theres TONS of MEXICANS and BLACKS in Chicago. BELIEVE ME lol
Chicago is known for African Americans and other Latino's mostly. There is a pretty good size of Mexicans/Chicanos in Chicago though. I can honestly say Chicago was the only city in the Midwest where I actually found decent Mexican food. Still, % wise, Chicago is about 20% Mexican. It has a noticeable Mexican population, but not as noticeable as other cities in the SW with 30%-50% Mexican populations.
Chicago should host more fights, it's basically the LA/NYC/MIA of the Midwest. My region doesn't have a city like that. Phoenix (4.3 mill metro) and Denver (3 mill metro) are the biggiest cities in my region.
There are solid fights every moth by 8 count promotoions. On July 14th, Andrezj Fonfara is fighting Glen Johnson. Fonfara draws pretty good crowds for fighting (normally) **** oppoisiton.
Johnson-Fonfara is a great fight though. Hopefully it will be packed.
First off chi#town has a huge mexican population. As well as Big p#rican and polish population.chicago is very ethnic. But Big fights never happen here. The united center would be a perfect venue for ortiz berto 2
Quoted for truth, I was wondering when someone would shed light on the Puerto Rican/Mexican contingent in Chicago.
Any time there are these TWO specific ethnic groups fighting on any card (or against each other) you are guaranteed a fun night of boxing...
:boxing:
Cause there not mexicans there like cali and texas.
Do some research bro, there are over 3 million Mexicans living in Chicago, and those are 2010 stats...
probably because it's a **** hole
:fu2:

I agree. Other than the little casino fights here in Indiana, and the fights they do at UIC Pavilion, there hasn't been anything significant here in who knows how long. There's great venues to hold fights at all over the place.
It would help if there was any local talent that was worth a damn.
I always asked myself the same thing. I went to the Paulie vs Diaz 2 fight. Decent fight, it wasn't packed but there were many people there. I guess it's because of taxes.
-They did have the World Boxing Championships here 2 years ago.
-They use to have huge fights at Soldier Field back in the day... Sucks that they don't do it anymore.
