What if Floyd took on Marg, Cotto, etc in their prime - prime for prime
what if Calzaghe fought Pavlik, Dawson, in their prime - prime for prime
what if Lewis fought Tyson .........
Obviously sometimes it couldnt be prime for prime as everyone ages at different speeds,
but the WASTE of Calzaghes talent is annoying.
Does anyone think their will be a time where the best would always fight the best prime for prime
what needs to change for that to happen
we all know promoters are sneaky and want to keep their fights undefeated by feeding them bums
will things ever change or improve more?
Boxing will change when Bob Arum retires and hopefully who ever inherits Top Rank isn't POS. People seem to forget how often the "best fought the best" from 2000-2005 what changed was Bob Arum signed pretty much EVERYBODY and only let guys fight in house.
It would have to be like the UFC, with all fighters under one promoter.
That way theres no where to run and all the money is in house, this tends to lead to promoters screwing over fighters though because they have all the power, used to happen when Don King was around because the majority of the classy fighters we're in his stable wont happen today though. Not unless HBO and Showtime stamp down and tell promoters that they won't accept BS fights.
i enjoy boxing and there are alot of great match ups that have been made.even if you dont always get the one you want most of the time its a good solid match up
What will make these fighter fight the best? The fans. If the fans stop watching these lame fights then promoters will have no choice but put on good fights that the public will only pay for. In the mean time, some boxers will keep quacking and ducking

if the champion took on the best contenders one after the other they'd burn out quickly and the businesses that backed them would fail
that what you want?
bankrupt the promotors?
promotors are not your enemies. they are your friends.
That's one thing that I liked about the The Super Six World Boxing Classic .... you had guys fight outside their usual den and NO cherry picking with this .... With a few adjustments, if they had something like that for each of the divisions, we would all see the fights that we want for their respective divisions.
another thing is that collecting belts by scaling weight classes has become very fashionable these days... im not saying that its bad, but reigning in a single weight division is just as compelling...
there are lesser fighters who are being groomed as some dominant force in the single weight class... like "beat the man, defend the title and dominate your division"!kinda thing...
hagler @ MW or tszyu @ JWW... those types...
The problem is to many paper titles. Go back to one title and the best fighting the best will happen with much more frequency. Until than we can have 68 different champions in 17 divisions who don't have to fight each other because they think they're the best because their alphabet bet soup organization says so.
floyd and pacquiao have proven that ducking, cherrypicking, and waiting for the right time to face someone brings success. i don't see anything changing any time soon.
