its a fantasy fight
no brainer
even an unproven Gamboa beats PAC
we can make a thread 'A Broomstick vs PAC at 135' and half of the posters would probably argue that the broomstick would be too slick for PAC
It would fall on Pac's toe every time he tried to hit it, easy work for the broom.
I'm a little surprised so many people think it's a pick em fight. Not saying Gamboa stands no chance or anything, but Pac was a monster featherweight, and Gamboa's never shown me the defense or concentration to beat someone as good as Pac was at featherweight.
I could see Gamboa doing well early, in an awesome fight, and getting destroyed when he began to lapse in the middle rounds. Can't see him going all 12 with Pac.
The 2003 version of Pac vs. Gamboa at FW, great fight. I can easily see Gamboa winning or being ahead on points, and Pac dropping him, than proceeding to stop him possibly.
03 pac wont win on the cards.
almost like a pick'em but MP showed more chin and was less careless than gamboa...
....and the invaluable experience of fighting the calibre of barrera and marquez at that weight class aids MP in a quite significant way...
I don't know.
I don't think either guy has faced anyone on par with speed than themselves. And I don't think Pacquiao has fought anyone with more power than himself(at the lower weights).
Pretty much this.
Gamboa imo. Pac doesn't exactly look good against fighters who fight back... But who are we kidding. Gamboa wouldn't show up and Arum wouldn't let Pac fight anybody who is that fast and hits that hard. Hell, Gamboa has arguably more power, and could himself stop Pac. Pac hasn't exactly been fighting that type of guy his whole career... Gamboa and Pac are both wreckless, whoever could survive the knockdown wins. Remember, most guys Pac has fought at lower than 147 said it wasn't the power, just the speed and accumulation. Until we see Pac fight an athletically gifted, powerful and fast fighter; we'll just never know. He said Shane made him hesitant because he was fast...and JMM basically makes him hesitant because he makes him pay... Wonder how the fight would go. Gamboa, when he comes in focused is a beast. When he comes in arrogant he needs a wake up call knockdown. Can he survive Pac with that mindset? Most likely not.
Odds favor Pac, my gut and common sense make me feel that a focused Gamboa does. Id not bet on it though....ever. That's like betting on Judah...I'd never bet on Gamboa til he stops coming in ****y consistently.
I hate that Pac has never fought these types of fighters because it just leaves so many unanswered questions aboutnhow he fares stylistically and gives us tangible evidence (aside from JMM...) aside from going by common sense which is not always correct in boxing.

Two of the fastest guys in the sport throwing combos. It'd be like dragon ball z. But i think it's truly only a fantasy fight cause pacquiao is never going down in weight.
sad thing for gamboa is if he fought and beat Rios this fight would be a real possibility in the near future.
I do wonder just what was going through his head to not take that fight.
