Weren't there a bunch of boxing websites and sources saying Marquez won? I believe even Ring Mag had Marquez winning and labeled it "Robbery of the Year"
Then a bunch of boxers, over 100 came out and said Marquez won too.
I think I know the list you're talking about - it was posted on another thread on this subject I think. That was (IIRC) just for the third fight.
Contrary to my Avatar I had Pacquiao winning the second fight, at least that was my opinion when I first saw it. Scored it 114-113.
What did ya score the first fight??
1 = win for pac
2 = draw
3 = win for pac
for me
marquez just happy to be there to trouble pac
not doing anything to secure a win againt pac
agree 100% with this. good post, green k for you sir!
money manny won all 3. he gets props for causing problems for pacman but you have to take the belt from the champ. he wasn't aggressive enough to convince me or the judges he was the clear winner. :boobies:
Nah, he lost all 3, he was only fighting for survival in the first 2 fights and to limit how many times he kissed the canvas.
The last fight he fought as if he was one punch from disaster. When you are that scared for a fighters health, he dont deserve no decision. Only happy he made it to the end without permananent harm.
Thank the lord for JMM health and all that you have done for him in 3 fights.
I had Pac winning the first two, and the third as a draw.
I think this thread - and all the other threads on the subject - prove one thing: that the fight was difficult to score. All those (on both sides) who say "if you didn't score all three fights for my side, you're an idiot" are not accepting reality. That argument just doesn't hold water with so many strong opinions on both sides. (Unless they think the world of fans is all idiots... which might be an interesting discussion.)
That's why Pacman needs to be advised that he needs to stop fighting like he's the challenger. If the opponents are too terrified to come in, just relax and don't worry about the audience booing the fight. The challenger needs to be the one required to do something, not the other way around.
Pacman needs to forget that "that's all I can give the fans" crap.
:usa:
and again that doesnt mean u win.. mosley showed good ring generalship or so i was told by some of u, did he win??Who said Mosley was the ring general? They should be banned
Everyone that matters know JMM outclassed and outboxed Pac all three times, even ATG and G.O.A.T boxing writer Bert Sugar.
Dave Moretti scoring fights>>>>>any one you bring up claiming Marquez won.
The only judge that could make an argument for being better than him is Duane Ford.
but but marquez control the tempo and reduce pac's work rate. controlling pac's pace doesnt mean u win, it just mean u get to live to tell about it one day LOL!!It's called ring generalship. Good thing the sport is called boxing not brawling. Geez did you just start watching the sport
Soooooooooooooo, you're trying to say that a lightweight fighting a welterweight at welterweight is not to the welterweight's advantage??
No I'm just saying pac didn't have any size advantage against Marquez...only advantage pac had was having more experience fighting at ww. Marquez didn't look sluggish at all fighting at ww against pac....probably had to do with having a better training camp and having a conditioning coach and all that...
People say the judges were biased/bought off but fail to realize that a guy like Dave Moretti actually scored Morales over Pacquiao....giving the fight to Erik Morales, so why would he be biased towards Manny in the third fight against Marquez?
Also, Manny outlanded Marquez in every round except 1 (8th round) and had a higher connect percentage in power punches (43%).
Even thought it is known fights are judge off of compubox, it does confirm why the judges gave the fight to Pacquiao, which is that he landed more and was the one pressing the action.
FWIW, the second fight would have been a draw if it weren't for the KD, and the first fight was one in which Manny should have won if it weren't for that judging error.
excellent analysis, the judges have had their say and they believe pacquiao won all 3
taking the word of all the haters over the judges is like respecting the advice of a 2 year old over a doctor.
marquez face looked like **** and pacs was untouched except for a headbutt. not that that is the only criteria for judging fights, but it does prove that pac was landing more effective punches
but i suppose the haters will just continue with the "marquez was controlling the tempo" argument...ya he controlled the tempo by getting punched in the face more often than pac..and by backpedalling for about 85% of the fight
also good point on questioning the integrity of judges like glenn trowbridge and dave moretti - who are 2 of the most respected judges in the business
