Man, I forgot to mention in this about his ABC program (ANY BOY CAN)..I used to read about it from time to time and after we became friends he made me a member, even sent me two membership cards...

Also puts into perspective the behaviour of some of our current champions and how being a champion should not just be about what you do in the ring. This is lost with many modern day boxers. Yes, I definitely had this in mind when I wrote it, DEFINITELY...when I get the chance I will transcribe some of his letters on here...truly AMAZING stuff...

Practicing your jab in a restroom with one ATG giving you advice and another taking a piss would probably be the most surreal moment in any of our lives.

This is the best article I've read on this forum in LONG time. So inspirational that it genuinely brought a huge smile to my face while reading. Archie Moore was a greater fighter. Bernard Hopkins is like the modern day Archie Moore, fighting until 47 years old and everything. Of course Archie fought more fights in his career, but both are ATG's and some of the greatest to ever do it.

When I got about half-way through your article, I had to step away for a moment. As I threw the clothes in the dryer, I thought about how many "heroes" and "celebrities" are looked up to and admired, but are really scumbags in everyday life. As if on cue, the very next paragraph I read when I got back addressed this issue! lol You're blessed to have actually known such a true champion and human being....
