1. Gamboa might opt out (or never even been in) of his fight against Bam Bam, Berto is in jeopardy for his bout against Vicious in June and Victor has already talked about moving on.
2. Those two have a common history and rivalry.
3. -> Well, duh!
Obviously, the April-date of Rios-Gamboa is too soon, as the fight has to be at 147, but give them both a decent tune-up and then let's make this happen in summer 2012! Boxing fans would be reconciled immediately!
Matthysse vs Rios, I'll pay to c this or Maidana...
Or if he wants to stay at 140, Robert Guerrero might be available?
A shame that DeMarco and Linares (that would be nice, from the Roach-camp!) are already busy in March...
One's a golden boy fighter, the other is a top rank fighter, so that means it will never happen.
Yeah, that's unfortunate, but it could still happen. There was a long break after Pacquiao-Hatton, but they got together for Gamboa vs Ponce de Leon, no?
Gamboa is not ducking the fight, he is trying to duck his promotors. Of course he is at least partly at fault for this situation, but how stupidly people jump the "rabble rabble rabble he's afraid of Rios rabble rabble"-horse instead of analyzing the situation is astonishing to say the least...
Gamboa moving up 2 division and didn't ask for a catchweight unlike the hoe you dick ride :bottle:
And then he DUCKED the fight. END OF STORY. Take a seat boy.
Rios is such a warrior for real. BUT NO let's not let Gamboa off the hook so easily. I want to see Rios destroy that coward gamhoe'a.

Rios is huge at 135 can't even make the weight anymore but still will starve himself just so he could have a size advantage Ortiz never had a problem making 147 Rios would lose @140 against top5
I would favor Ortiz, too, but Rios himself said he'd take that fight, so why argue whether it makes sense or not?
I say a tune-up for Rios (if Gamboa is not in the fight) at 140, a tune-up for Ortiz at 147 a bit earlier than end of june (I speculate that he is in shape, he already trained for the February date) if Berto opts out in time (that's the real deal breaker, I suppose) and then meet in the middle at a catch weight sometime in summer. People would definitely buy this, I know I'd want to watch it...
People will be pissed if Rios fights "only" Abril in April without the perspective of a similar big fight as the one promised versus Gamboa.
Also Rios is probably not a 140lber for the rest of his career. He was almost literally killing himself to make 135 and did not succeed for the Murray fight. Ortiz will not go to 154 in the near future, he's only been a welter for two fights now, so let's not exaggerate...
Two different weights, two different fighters. Rios is a 140lber, Ortiz can possibly go to 154 in the near future he's so big and strong. I wouldn't make that fight if I was Rios people unless it was at 140lbs.
Sure it's a big jump, but Rios himself said he would do it.
Also, Gamboa was about to jump 2 weight classes as well and that wasn't a problem, right?
Or make a catchweight at 144/145, I don't care, I just want to see this fight, I'm tired of looking forward to fights which are "in jeopardy" each day...
Gamboa would have been the far better boxer though. It would have been a case of ability vs size.
In this case Ortiz would be the better fighter and also the bigger guy.

Ortiz would dominate that fight, especially at 147.
Rios is big for 135, Ortiz is HUGE at 147, that's too much of a jump for a guy who's only advantage is physical size.
.....okay Ortiz would stop him early.
Ortiz looks huge even @ 147.
While Rios looks big @ 135 .....
I wouldn't mind watching it @ 140....
if Ortiz can even make that weight.
I doubt that ortiz can make 140 and if he could he would be a dead man walking.. In his last fight at LWW against Petterson he had no energy after about 3 rounds.. As soon as Rios fights anyone who is the same size/bigger that he can't walk through and who has decent/average fundamentals he will struggle..

@ 147 against Ortiz Rios would get slaughtered.. He is too one dimensional .. He should aclimatise to 140 first and take a few fights and try and get a title there first and maybe try and clean up the division as its just lost all its top players to Welterweight but I think he is too one dimensional to clean up @ 140
