8oz gloves is an advantage for the faster fighter in Floyd who also happens to be the lighter puncher of the 2 by far. Cotto already proved he can bang with 10oz gloves and he will use timing more so than speed against Floyd so he doesnt need lighter gloves

You should change the thread title to "Cotto cannot allow Floyd to show up May 5th".:bottle::bottle::crying::crying:
Lol you guys are something ..Do you really think the size of the gloves will make any difference ?? Cotto is getting beat anyway.
It makes a big difference. Why do you think they have rules?
TS has a point. At first I thought cotto would want it, but cotto can bang with 10Oz while Floyd probably can't. That means he can hurt floyd possibly while floyd is less likely to hurt him. However if both went to 8oz, both benefit while cotton benefits more with 10.
Bingo! Cotto will have to eat a lot of leather to get to Floyd anyway so it matters what is going back at him. Floyd proved in the De la Hoya fight he can't punch with 10oz gloves so they should go by the rules and use 10oz gloves.
They are already getting their excuses ready.....
What excuses boy? Cotto plus PLD, the wild card in this, been in the gym figuring out the game-plan. PLD is hungry and is a whiz, it's over for Floyd, who's very overrated IMHO. Floyd did not look impressive vs DLH @ 154, it's true what the commentators were saying. Cotto's got the best jab and boxing ability at 154, point blank period. Floyd can't hurt Cotto and Cotto can hurt him. If Floyd still ran like he used to I would say UD but those days are over and he''ll be forced to mix it up with Miguel, especially because like the other knowledgeable poster said -- Cotto can/will go southpaw on Floyd. Cotto is underrated in his boxing ability and his timing + speed. It's the reason why Steward fell in love with him and Pac + Shane said he can beat Floyd. Plus Roach don't want Pac to fight Cotto at 154. May 5th That 0 Will Go.

Why do you think Manny ordered 8oz with Margo , its about busting their face up , the smaller glove is not about KO its about speed .
Cotto won't do shiit cuz he's getting paid. Mayweatbers going to dictate the terms for the fight and all cotto can do is sit back and say thank you daddy
Mayweather couldn't even bust up Gatti LOL!!!! Sure, he gave him a beating but he couldn't open up cuts like all opponents did to Gatti.
What makes you think he can bust up Cotto's face. My point is Mayweather's punches don't seem to have that effect on his opponents as far as producing cuts, etc.
True, however Floyd was at 140lbs, and was naturally lighter, leading to less-weighted punches.
Another factor is the gloves that Floyd used against Gatti, Japan's Winning boxing gloves. Known for maximum hand safety and padding, very padded things they are.
I've tried on and analyzed all of the known professional fight gloves, and the difference between Winning and any other brand (especially the mexican type gloves, Cleto Reyes, Everlast MX), is like night and day.
You can feel your knuckles through the Mexican style fight gloves, not so much with the Winning. The Winning's padding is thicker and more shock absorbent.
Floyd uses Grant now a days, a sort of hybrid glove that crosses between puncher's and safety. A good balance of both.
On to the topic......
8oz gives the advantage to both fighters in their own ways.
Obviously to the power puncher, Cotto, increasing chances of hurting his opponent.
Smaller gloves = harder to operate defense. Punches have a higher chance of getting through the guard of smaller gloves. (Cotto is left handed, and has experience fighting as a southpaw. If he goes southpaw, Floyd's shoulder roll will be cancelled and he will be forced to use a high guard, aggressive style like he usually does against southpaws)
Both will be able to punch a bit faster, especially Floyd since he's the much faster handed fighter.
Cotto likes to use a sort of peek-a-boo high guard for his defense, Floyd's insane accuracy will get through Cotto's defenses more often because of the smaller gloves.
All in all, both are wearing the same weighted gloves, it's an even playing field.
smaller gloves is and always will be an advantage to the bigger puncher.This. 2 ounces won't make a damn bit of difference in speed, but on the other hand, smaller gloves gives the advantage to the stronger puncher, due to there not being as much padding, in turn the stronger puncher will be able to "dig in" so to speak. So basically man, you need to relax, the gloves won't effect the outcome of the fight. If I hear after the fight if Mayweather wins, Cotto fans blaming it on the size of the gloves, that would be ridiculous.
i dont think it matters too much. cotto could wear no gloves and mayweather could wear 100oz gloves and mayweather will still win.
but if this is a true super welterweight fight, then it should be 10oz. thats the rules.

I see what you're getting at, but damn could you have picked a worse example? Because Gatti wasn't bleeding much he didn't get blown out of the ring and stopped on swelling? Which Miguel does get lumped up in the face a lot.
Congrats man, you made your post about Manny! lol!
:lol1: The hate is strong on that one. :lol1:
Poor guy, let's hope he doesn't get aneurysm when his emperor gets KO'ed.

No it wouldnt...
COTTO IS THE HEAVIER HANDED FIGHTER SURE...
But he gets busted up very easily....
8oz gloves on Floyds hands will be a nightmare for cotto and he might even get stopped on cuts... Just keeping it real.
Cotto will be slower than he was against pac because he will simply be heavier as well.... Floyd will still show tremendous speed and timing.
I think if Cotto wants to win, his chances do increase with smaller gloves, but lets face it, hes not favored at all to win this fight. Hes not expected to, so in essence it doesnt really matter. He should go with the lighter gloves, but expect to get punished as well.
If cotto lands hard then thats his only advantage glove size wise. And its not a bad advantage to have by no means...
But if Pac could slice Cotto up, the accurate punching of Floyd will be too much. Floyd wants to make a statement against Cotto, because I think Floyd feels Bradley is about to give Pac hell....
Pac is looking bad in his fights.... Show him a lil boxing and he looks bad. He is probably the worst boxer at 147, but he makes up for it with his unique non technique style. He fights off athleticism only. He has no boxing knowledge. I have seen him swing for the bleachers and knock hatton out and he wasnt even looking.
His technique is shat
Malinaggi is a better boxer than pacquiao....
Congrats man, you made your post about Manny! lol!
