miguel Diaz.. cotto must box mayweather

imho cotto is durable enough to be more aggressive he do not need to box floyd to go the distance... I didn't say that, I see this fight going the distance anyway. What I said was that he would take more punishment if he fights more aggressively, cause Floyd would hit him with clean counters all night long. Unless Floyd has a really bad night, or Cotto somehow lands a bomb and is able to follow up perfectly, I just don't see how Cotto could win this fight.

Can't really say that Cotto boxing Mayweather isn't a good idea, it might be his best bet at winning the early rounds. I used to think pressure from the first bell would be a good idea against Mayweather, but Ortiz was pressuring Mayweather from the start and it didn't get him much more then a steady stream of right hands to the face until he got desperate. I see this fight playing out a bit like DLH/May played out, except with Cotto actually looking a little better then Oscar did early, but with Mayweather breaking him down & winning by late round stoppage. Cotto was in great condition against Marg but he's still too easy to be hit clean.

i assume everyone saw joshua clottley vs miguel cotto everyone agrees that cotto won the fight but joshua was the better fighter on the night now we all saw joshua land multiple right hands and left hands on cotto! now imagine mayweather who is more accurate and better skilled and is fighting a slightly lesser version of cotto will do floyd will have now then 50% accuracy which equals a wide wide decision or a late stoppage i like cotto i think he is and was a very good fighter but we all know styles makes fights and he can not beat mayweather for me he does not even have a punchers chance but just my opinion mind

Actually boxing center ring is not a bad idea. Keep Mayweather off the ropes where he like to rest his tired legs. If Cotto could get Mayweather to lead instead of countering it would also put Mayweather in an uncomfortable position. But Cotto is used to being the aggressor. That will only help Mayweather. But for Cotto, he shouldn't allow Mayweather to fight off the ropes! If Mayweather is on the them only jab and try to draw him ring center. I dont think anyone can make floyd lead, marquez known counter specialist as small as he is could not make pbf lead and JMM had to take the uncomfortable role....

In a sense i agree with him. Floyd is effective at counter punching, at come forward fighters who he picks off/apart. What happens when somebody doesnt come forward, and instead moves backwards, changing angles, making floyd be the agressor, keeping him honest with a hard jab. I think it would be a good tactic on miguels part, to atleast try anyways. Try and take mayweather out of his game, get inside his head. The problem with this is we know what happens when floyd is forced to become the aggressor. He pot shots all night to steal rounds. Thats why Marquez had no choice but to chase him or hand away rounds

I think he would be a fool to just go straight at floyd, thats floyds bread and butter, and i think miguels trainer knows this. Not that floyd cant fight coming forward, but thats not his strength. Cotto just coming forward would leave him wide open to be picked off all night. Just because you are making floyd come forward doesnt mean that you dont pick your spots to dig in, or that floyd wont find himsel against the ropes at all. Because of miguels jab, i think he could be fairly effective moving back, changing angles, making floyd come forward yet keeping him honest. But of course this is a redundant convo to have, nobody beats floyd on paper. Cotto has to Jab with Mayweather even if Cotto's Jab is slower it is still a way to take away one of Mayweather's most underrated weapon.
