Martinez is a D fighter, he is too far away to be in the best. that's spot belong to fighters like Mayweather, Pacquiao and Cotto. Martinez need to fighr those D class fighters and the go up to C class fighter before he can even think fightin the three wise men.
he paid the price to figure that out though.
everyone seems to forget their first fight
Yup, that's one reason I think Martinez deserves credit for it. Without hurting Williams like that, Williams would be in there making a lot of rounds difficult to score. Thus, I give Martinez credit for his win. Not a huge Martinez fan, but he does some excellent stuff.
If you think that punch that koed williams was lucky then you probably think Donaires counter of Darchinyan was a lucky punch
Or Donaires KO of Montiel.
Martinez and even Erislandy Lara were landingi that punch at will. Williams is wide open for it. Lara doesn't quite have Martinez's power, and Martinez previously wasn't able to land it flush with Williams coming forward. However he nearly landed that blast a few times. Nothing lucky about that.
If anything, maybe you should discredit him by saying the code on Williams is cracked and without him adjusting to that punch, he's not much of a win. However, I'd disagree and say it was still an excellent win. Since then however, Martinez has been the "Euro-Cutioner." Which is not the most prestigious title imo. Tough for him though since he doesn't want to move up anymore, not many options.

I use to be a Sergio hater but the way he blasted through Williams, beat the MW King Kelly Pavlik, and destroyed Dzinzuruk he earned this haters respect. I use to speak of Martinez like I do about Cotto, but Martinez just left me no choice but to respect him. He's the real deal. I use to hate Sergio and thought he was overrated, and I thought Williams closely but clearly beat him the first time and he beat Cintron but was outright robbed, straight up.
I dont think Sergio is a D clasx fighter at all, but he aint This élite monster people says he is.
And I agree with punch thing, even though in wasnt a Lucky punch, people think high of Martínez because of it and they overrate the hell out that win.
Martinez just took advantage against the SLOW FLAT FOOTED FIGHTERS in his division (Williams and Pavlik) and made himself somewhat of a star at a late age
he fights anybody with a little speed, then I think he gets picked apart especially the way he leaves his hands down
Love the sig. Rigo is special. And I mean it in a good way.

umm I think the main reason he believes he is a great fighter is because he is. he started boxing at 20 and started beating top level fighters in his mid 30s, so I dono what book you guys read, but in my book, thats called great. He can bang with floyd, cotto, pac, whoever is on top. not saying hes better than those guys, or worse than them, but the fact remains, sergio IS a great fighter. deal with it :boxing:
Sergio fans have endless excuses.
Like when he lost to Margarito "It's not fairrrrr!!! Margarito was cheatinggggg! Waaaahhhh!!!! Waaaaaahhhh!!! "
Margarito had 4 or 5 losses it's not like wraps turned him into a welterweight version of a Muhammad Ali / SRR hybrid monster cyborg.
Like when he had a draw w/ Nieva who is 7wins - 34losses "It's not fairrrrr!!! Sergio was just learning to box!! He was a soccer player!!!! Waaaahhhh!"
Whatever.
Meanwhile, when they beat Pavlik who had drug issues-- nope. No excuses are allowed. Great win. No room for the drug issue, or a crappy training camp. Nope. Not allowed to talk about that.
:rofl::rofl::rofl:

you really need to watch more fights if you think that punch was lucky...Quintana was landing that punch in his first fight with Williams and Martinez couldn't miss with that punch in the first fight
