I still feel this is a mismatch.
Kirkland is wild and chinny. I see Saul systematically breaking him down and stopping him late. Saul is the better boxer, faster, stronger, more polished, more accurate, more intelligent.
Kirkland gets a bad boxing lesson if he ever fights Alvarez. This kid aint fuccin Angulo.
Really? People still believe in Kirkland?
I mean he puts on entertaining fights, but the only thing he has is power and an aggressive style. I originally thought the Ishida fight was a fluke, then him getting dropped so quickly in the Angulo fight proved me wrong.
People saying who has Canelo fought... who the fuck has Kirkland fought? He got waxed by a scrub, then he almost got waxed by Angulo, the only reason he did it is because Angulo gave everything he had in the first round.
Canelo has looked really good in his past couple of fights. And he looks better in every new fight. I would put up all my points that Canelo beats Kirkland
Yeah I think its because canelo is younger than a lot of the posters. So naturally theyre jealous.I'm a big canelo fan as well as Kirkland but canelo stops him. I have faith in gbp making that fight if Kirkland beats Molina. Maybe for the summer or fall.
lets be real though...canelo hasn't fought a guy as strong as kirkland, and I just think kirkland will be able to pressure the **** out of canelo and land some bombs. kirkland will drag canelo into a war and will test canelo's will power and chin...
they would end up slugging eventually
which might not bode well for a 22 year old canelo
GBP wont make the fight. i think there's too much to risk at this stage
shane mosley is shot to pieces. he's the safer bet with a cash cow like canelo.
the worst case scenario would be for canelo to try and outbox kirkland, fail, end up in a slugfest, and then end up taking a sustained beating late in the fight
Wow great question burner, am surprise too with a lot of people backing Kirkland for whatever reason, I expect canelo to stop a wild and wide open Kirkland by the 7th round, And even if the fight ends on a UD canelo is taking it home.
If Canelo can beat Kirkland he will either have to catch him early (1st round) or walk through hell.
No one knows if Canelo can handle power puncher yet.
So its a toss-up for me.
I would slightly favor Kirkland.
I still feel this is a mismatch.

I agree, I think that Canelo beats him. I think Canelo knocks him out. Although I don't feel it's a mismatch, it's a fight I would really like to see.
Kirkland wins big if they fight. I hope they make this happen, but i doubt they will want to do it after James polishes off molina next month. It's funny how people think James is an easy out. He's been knocked down in a fight three times, two of which he came back and scored to knockdowns in the same round, one which was a KO... But everyone still see the ishida fight only. It's all good just wish Vegas believed in molina more....
i agree with this. Besides that one scare at 147 canelo has showed a good chin and his boxing skill is much higher than angulo and a lot of refs would have stopped that fight in the first round. Kirkland was lucky the ref didnt stop it, then he was able to capitalize on a somewhat punched out Angulo.
I see Canelo catching him with too many clean shots and putting him away in about 5 rounds. still would love to see the fight though
I laugh when people say Canelo has shown a good chin and boxing skills. Who exactly has Canelo faced to show this? If Canelo was as good as many of his fans think he is there would be no reason for his padded record and reluctance from his management to put him in with live opposition.
Canelo's team wants no part of Kirkland right now and there is a reason for that. If they were as confident as some of the responses in here that fight would have been made.
I also think it's lame to imply that Kirkland was lucky to beat Angula. Kirkland had the better stamina. That's not luck.
I still feel this is a mismatch.

Whats good Burner? BTW the boy Canelo never fought anyone remotely as good as Angulo. Kirkland wins this bout in 5
There wont be no systematic breakdown lol.
Either Canelo wins in the first 2 rounds or Kirkland any round after that.
Pretty simple.
i agree 100%....LEFTY
I've seen Canelo polish off small fighters or shot to ***** fighters. I have yet to see him fight someone his size that has genuine power & not shot or small, that's why.
what he lacks in skills he mmore than makes up for it with his NEVER say die mentality....everybody have their own lil' reasons for picking Kirkland to hammer Red....I'm a believer in Anne Wolf....something about that combo of her and Kirkland makes me comfortable picking him to beat MANY of the so called more polished cats at '54....don't know about him being chinny....what qualifies a fighter as chinny?!?...he has 1 lost...we ALL are grown enough to understand the circumstances surrounding that...not an excuse...its just the way it is....again, what makes cats think Kirkland is chinny?!?....I don't get that label cats have put on him...knock him down and he gets back up :dunno:
