Ever since Cotto lost against Pacquiao, has he ever lost? Was his performance bad? Because although he was fighting bums, it's not like he performed horribly against them. In fact, I believe he was dominating them like he was supposed to. It's not like you can say "he did bad against a one eyed Margarito." So what are you guys seeing? Someone please tell me since the Pacquiao fight where Cotto looked bad or shot against an opponent?
I'd never give floyd better credit than pac...
Manny gets more for doing it first, but Floyd still gets his due.
Same as Hatton, only vice-versa obviously.
I thought cotto looked great against pac until he started exchanging and pac thumped him.
All that 148-145 is whatever to me. Freddie roach has some kind of guage that knows the exact weight that destroys cotto?
In general, i think cotto is a better fighter at 147 than 154.
I too in general think Cotto was a better welterweight................when he was there. But he never fought Pacman at 147 is what I'm saying & now team Pacman wanted him at 147 when he's been campaining at 154.
I'm saying he's the same fighter now that he was at 145 against Pacman, that's really all there is to it.
Cotto had 1 ass kicking on him going into the Pac fight
he now has 2 on him after the Pac fight
Cotto isn't shot anyway, maybe faded, but not shot altogether
he's just lesser now than he was in late 09
Cotto is past his prime-still good. Has been since 2008 when he lost to Margarito. He's not "shot". Mosley, Margarito, Jones, Castillo, they are shot.
Cotto at 154 is a B+ fight. He's never going to be in his absolute prime anymore, but neither are Floyd and Manny. Floyd getting Cotto at 154 on his resume is actually important for his career. It's a HOF fighter that he is moving up in weight to fight, while he's still pretty good and not past it completely. Cotto has more left than Mosley when Floyd fought him, that's for damn sure. And even though the Mosley fight was legit because of what Shane had done prior to fighting Floyd, Cotto at 154 is still the better fight. Cotto is like where Shane was in 2005 or so, past his prime, but still a good fighter. Not shot.
How one could argue that Cotto doesn't look the same in 2010-2011 as he did in 2009 against Manny is ridiculous. What looks different??? His reflexes, ability, power, all look the same. He's basically the same guy he was in 09' when Manny fought him, only at SWW now. Manny gets more props for beating him first, but Floyd still gets his due. Same with Hatton, only vice-versa. If people are going to give Manny credit for beating Ricky Hatton when he did, they better give Floyd credit if beats Cotto at 154. It's only fair, because it's basically the same thing.
The biggest difference in Cotto was what we saw in 07-08, as opposed to what we saw in 09'. He's pretty much the same guy he was in 09', past his prime-still good.
Mayweather-Cotto at 154 and Pacquiao-Bradley....good with me.
I'll take the bolded further. Cotto has not looked the same since Margarito beat him to a bloody pulp with plaster. However he was forced to fight Pacman at 145. Now lets use gradeschool math here, recently team Pacman would not fight this very same Cotto that Floyd is fighting above 148, what does that tell you?
It tells me the same Cotto they fought at 145, is the same damn Cotto that they wouldn't fight above 148 currently.
Now that Cotto is bigger & had 3 easy fights & does not have to suffer any mannyweights, IMo opinion that evens out the playing field those facts considered. Is he better now? No. But he isn't much worse if he's any worse at all.

I know you said they were the same.
Miguel has not looked the same since the manny fight to me. One legged foreman fight? Hell no, nowhere mear close. Mayorga? Cmon, would cotto really get hit that much vs mayorga in '08-'09?

No I didn't I said they were around the same. Those other flomos defending Floyd has nothing to do with me or what I posted.
With sound logic to boot. Like I said i never said he is better now, go read that again.

Cotto was never a 154 lb fighter anyway. His best years came at LWW and WW.. Cotto's move to LMW was only due to old age...
And lol on his last 3 fights... He had a good run because he was fighting has beens (Marg), and mediocre to barely decent type of opponents (Mayorga, Foreman)...
The last 3 fights he had before Pac were better opponents (prime Marg, Clottey, and Jennings).. You compared to that to his ran, then obviously he is not goin' to look that good because those are tougher fights... The 3 fights he had after Pac were nothing more than recovery fights to restore what ever credibility he had left as an elite fighter..
And lol on complaining about at 145.. Cotto looked great in that fight..
Hatton had 1 fight after Mayweather and got his ass whopped. Then he fought manny. Go to google before coming on here.
You can't be serious. Hatton fought Juan Lazcano, winning a clear decision. He didn't look good in the fight. Then he beat on Malignaggi until McGirt threw in the towel.
Cotto is not shot just because he lost a few fights.
Was Pacquiao shot after getting Ko'd twice in his career?
Great fighters always have another great performance in them.
Mosley did it against Margarito.
GBP put out an issue of the Ring Magazine with Cotto on the front titiled "Is Miguel Cotto shot at the age of 28" right before Pacquiao vs Cotto in an attempt to discredit the fight.
Also 99% of Floyd fans have posted/stated that Miguel had something taken out of him and wasn't the same fighter going into the fight against Manny due to the beating he took from Margarito.
Those are both facts.....but some how GBP and all of the Floyd fans are back tracking, lying and saying they never stated any of this, and saying that Cotto is a new fighter now that Floyd is facing him.
I find all of this ridiculous.....especially when most thought Cotto vs Pac II was happening...these same guys were saying it was a cherry pick and a disgrace to boxing.
It was a legit issue at the time, but they didnt put out another issue after theamny fight saying he might be shot, because he clearly showed he wasnt
Lol, now yall assume bushbaby is a floyd fan. Idiots.
There is definitely an accumulation of utterly ridiculous arguments being made saying that cotto is better now than whenanmy fought him that are mind boggling and baffling.
You did insinuate that cotto somehow is a fresher andless shopworn fighter now.

Bro, if that's what you got from that post, I don't know what to tell you!:dunno:

The Cotto that Pacman fought came of a brutal beating & a worthless fight with Jennings, then engaged in another war with Clottey, then was forced to fight Pacman at 145.
This Cotto gets to fight fat & hasn't taken as much punishment as before due to level of opposition. They're around the same.
You flat out stated that the Cotto Manny faced took a bunch of punishment but againt Floyd he hasn't taken as much punishment.I can't even begin to point out how contradictory a statement like that is.
Cotto will go into the Floyd fight with the same damage he had from the Marg I fight and even worse, the damage from the Pacquiao fight.
How does any of that go away due to the opponents he faced at 154........never mind, don't even bother answering as it's clear your biased and don't know sh1t about boxing.
Damage is damage regardless as to when it happened in a fighters career....just ask guys like Roach and Ali as they are still feeling the effects from fights that happened several decades ago
Where did I say that the punishment against Pacman & Margarito disappeared? Never said that why don't you go back & try reading & comprehending again. I also never said that the Cotto Floyd is fighting is better.
I never said any damge simply went away either. What you're doing is piggy backing of Walt who didn't understand my post either & don't even realize your assumptions are dead wrong.
Please point out exactly where in my post I said his punishment has disappeared or he's found a fountain of youth,(meaning he's better now). Don't worry, I'll wait.

I never read anyone call him shot.
The foreman fight was a less than impressive performace. He let a 1 legged fighter with absolutely zero pop hang for about four rounds.
Cotto is without a shadow of a doubt faded a bit from almost 3 more years of wear and tear and the sustained beating/loss to pac.
It was much more brutal ko loss than hatton's loss to floyd.

This has got to be the dumbest thing I read in a while.
So his punishment just disappeared after facing 3 soft opponents at 154?
You dickriding stans kill me.
At least guys like Phenom and a few others keep it 100 and say he was shot in both fights.
However, idiots like you say he had damage leading into the Pac fight, but found a fountain of youth against Floyd.....gimme a fvkkin break.

The day Cotto is shot is the day he looses to a mexican named Alberto De Los Zapatos.
Until then he is past prime and right now on a three fight win streak.
So all that accumulated punishment completely disappears from existence with a 12 rd ko of mayorga?!?!?
Holy shi t! You guys might be right! We found the fountain of youth! We'll make kazillions of dollars. Plus add a few more years and back to new.
As soon as someone shows me a rebirth in the ring for cotto, besides just saying 3 ko victories in a row, then maaaaaybe theres a convo.
Seriously, mayorga had 1 fight in 3 yrs, we all know what yuri is and how cotto looked, and margs....do i even have to say it?
I give cotto all the props in the world but no was he's better now.
How many trainers since pac? I even see people saying he'll have a better training camp now...how the fuk do you know that? I mean talk about grasping for straws.....
Bro, if that's what you got from that post, I don't know what to tell you!:dunno:
