he is officially a b!tch. I tried giving the guy a chance, I gave him props for fighting ortiz, but this would be the last straw.
So...he's ducking pacquiao (pac/arum is also ducking, but that doesnt negate the fact that mayweather is too), he's ducking martinez, and he's ducking cotto. Best fighter, an atg my ass. The list of fighters he ducks is way better than the list of fighters he chooses.
Good thing for us, he cant duck bubba in the cell.
Smh
I don't know why people are bitching yall know you're going to pay for the fight anyway. Everybody says that... I've tried doing it before plenty of times but if you're a true boxing fan you're going to get an itch and buy it.
I won't be paying for this for sure I never do for Pac or Mayweather PPV fights, P2P streaming for me! :cool2:
there is no one else out there for may 5th besides cotto and canelo
it was always gonna be one of them if pac didn't step up. he prob chose canelo because he didn't want to hear that pac leftover stuff.
Oh plz. Shut up with this cotto ****. Cotto at this point is no better than canelo since losing to pac, he's done absolutely nothing to justify a claim that anyone's ducking him. Only a cotto nuthugger would say otherwise. Nobody cotto has fought since pac would beat canelo and its not even clear cotto would beat him. Both fights are equally ****ty. Get over that ****.
Yeah! You tell em!
Everyone throw rocks at Cotto!
Green k given.
people wont call it duck.lol a duck is only made if u chose a lesser competition... in this one, its just equal or even greater.
To the hardcore boxing fans, yes. However, Bob Arum would have used this as ammo in the media very quick. "Floyd wants no part of Pacquiao, he didn't even attempt to contact us"

At this point, anybody with two legs would beat foreman. Obviously those wins dont mean anything, but all in all, it means canelo is largely untested. Its mayweather cherrypicking a green guy who has a zero and a fan base.
What makes you so confident that alvarez would beat margarito? Margarito is a tough sob who is gonna take the shots and keep coming, throwing hard shots in return. Obviously he isnt what he used to be, but hes gonna keep coming.
At this point, its saying something by saying margarito would be canelo's greatest challenge to date....yet he's a legitimate contender for mayweather?
Delusions of a grandeur. Fans can justify just about anything.
this right here.

Cotto is the king of winning vacant belts. Let's not even bring that in the argument. The first actual champion he beat for his belt was Yuri Foreman.
He got his 140 WBO title when it was vacant, he got his 147 WBA title when it was vacant, he got his WBO 147 title when it was vacant. Finally at 154 he decides to fight an actual champion.
Canelo's only major title he won, is vacant against an outmatched opponent in Matthew Hatton as a kid. But that's just once. Cotto did it three times as a grown up.
Yes cotto won alot of vacant belts...then proceeded to defend them against the best (specifically WW).
Who the fuk has canelo fought?
His wins over Matthew, Rhodes, Cintron, or Gomez don't matter. Canelo is a better fighter than the versions of Mayorga and Margarito Cotto fought, and Canelo would beat Foreman right now.

If Mayweather chooses to go after Martinez after the Ortiz fight, then it immediately looks like he's choosing to duck Pacquiao.

So, cotto comfortably outboxed an undefeated boxer, comfortably outboxed mayorga (who isnt much, but better than alfonso), and completely outboxed margarito, cotto is now meh?
And, because canelo fought the loser of a fight, and alfonso gomez, and ryan rhodes (whoever that is), he is now more talented?
lol
But he did win a vacant belt against Luciano cuello. Thats gotta be worth something.

in terms of raw talent yes canelo > cotto's last three fights

Yes, his marquee win over alfonso f'n gomez proved that to me.

The cotto fight was on the table, and he hasnt even signed a fight yet, yet mayweather agrees to fight a young green dude. Sounds like mayweather doesnt want any part of cotto imo.
But nobody knows how the negotiation was so we can't really comment on that in this very moment. It's still possible that Cotto/Chavez Jr is made for late Spring/Early Summer with Cotto have some sort of new fight deal with Top Rank. And that probably looks better than whatever Mayweather and GBP were offering. Until more information is released, it can't be stated that Mayweather just chose to fight Canelo over Cotto because it wasn't as simple as that.
correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Martinez already signed on to fight Macklin on the 17th March?
So it would be a bit weird him having that fight and then fighting again May 5th wouldn't it?
Weve already discussed that. Martinez was calling out mayweather well before macklin was even born.
when I said "long time ago", I didnt mean literally. I just meant it wouldve been made a week or so ago
Well just have to wait and see how all the chips fall, it definitely sounds fishy tho. The cotto fight was on the table, and he hasnt even signed a fight yet, yet mayweather agrees to fight a young green dude. Sounds like mayweather doesnt want any part of cotto imo.
This convo isnt about that, but while we are on the subject, canelo fought a nobody for a vacant belt, and has yet to really defend it against any legitimate person.
