I am reading hajime ippo where ippo is fighting a cannabilistic counter puncher that has a corkscrew jab called the bullet which got me interested in counter puncher fighters...
I am wondering which fighter/fight had the best counter punching skills???
If I'm not mistaken, the ts didn't ask who the best counter punchers were. He asked about the best display in a fight.
The guy that said Floyd-Gatti had a good choice. If one were to just see the fight. But the trained eye knows that Gatti & Floyd are leagues apart in terms of skill.
However Marquez countered Pacman in the 3rd fight to a "T", and Pacman's punch output all but evaporated. Also when we consider Pacman's standing in boxing, that makes Marquez's display that much better!!
Yeah, I thought people just couldn't read. Hahaha
Kell Brooks? Really? Really? Bouduani? Really? Really?
The best counter punching I've seen in one fight is Sal Sanchez putting the hurt on Wilfredo Gomez!
Overall great fight IMO. Wasn't anything special in the counter punch department though. Sal lead a lot, got most of his work off first. Wilfredo was a tough dude though.
You're bang on about Brook m8. Galarza aint nothing special but Kell did show real class in that one.
Appreciate this bro! Just as I remembered it too. Real good counters here, made his man pay every time he missed.
I think a lot of people misunderstood the OP. Naming the best counter punchers/fighters and not the fights that displayed some good counter punching.

I may be flamed for this, but that's fine. But watch Martinez/Bunema for a ridiculous display of counter punching.
Or most recently, Kell Brooks last fight. Not saying these guys are any better than the above mentioned, but its just relevant to the OP. Kell put more Pull counters in a single round than I've seen floyd put in in an entire fight. It was pretty funny to watch, actually.

Did JMM speed up for Pac??Because he counter him at will....
Keep it real
Marquez was fat as ****, he was heavy in a bad way, fighting the p4p best with a muffin top. Naturally smaller and putting on bad weight.
He looked in better shape against Pacquiao, thats undeniable.
don't twist it.
Skills pay the bills, but you need a healthy body to do it.
F. Mayweather-Chavez
Hopkins-Trinidad
Toney-Barkley
Toney-McCallum 1
Sanchez-Lopez 1
Duran-Dejesus (watch how Duran makes Dejesus pay for his misses in the last 2 fights)
I still stand by Kell Brooks last fight. He seriously had like 50 pull counters and they were with jabs, hooks and uppers, not just straights. He also responded to parries and a large variety of other missed/blocked punches.
Real good display of counter punching.
James Toney, simply because he made it look so easy.....JMM generally eats the punches before deluivering his own...while Toney would make you miss and in one action deliver his own punches
I suppose that's why he is now regarded as being at least in the beginning stages of Dementia Pugilistica- because he "slipped" so many punches...........
