Floyd booked the MGM Grand for his May 5 fight. We all know this place is too small if he really wants to fight Pacquiao. Mayweather vs Pacquiao, fight like this big, Floyd and GBP know this fight will easily fill any 40,000 or more sitting capacity arena. Why the hell he booked for just 18,000 sitting capacity if he really intended to fight Pacquiao.
De La Hoya vs Floyd
De La Hoya vs Manny
Tyson vs Holyfield I & II
Floyd vs Mosley
Manny vs JMM III
all these fights were at the MGM and part of some of the biggest events in boxing history. People may not understand, but they all had the hype from the media and fans that Floyd/Manny has with the exception of a few. To say the MGM Grand is too small is a slap in the face to boxing fans because we've witnessed some classic bouts throughout the years. The MGM wont disappoint and everyone knows this.
Its nice to play a basketball game on a navy ship or in Texas stadium, but nothing can match the history and prestige of playing at MSG or the old Forum & Boston Garden
The rationalizations and attempts to put some kind of blame on Mayweather are getting ridiculous. I don't really know what else needs to come out of Bob Arums mouth before people finally realize who doesn't want the fight. Just stop it. Now all of the sudden MGM isn't good or big enough? You really believe that?

gates dont make these guys tons of money anywya
the buildings cost a boatload to secure and use for a date
the money is made on ppv
the fight goes to vegas for the moneyt it will bring to the city
the hotels
the restaurants
and most importantly the casinos

Wrong....They had scheduled MGM Numerous times when negotiating for this fight..it wasnt an issue then, and its not an issue now...and as far as May 5th, GBP Had the date since last yr, Floyd just took it cuz its the closest, and he wants to be active...this is why he wanted to fight in frebruary before his birthday cuz he wants less space between his fights, but of course Pac needed time coming off his fight with marques so may was more fair, yet still close..get over it already, Pac doesnt want any problems with Floyd...I wouldnt either...Floyd is a mean jerk that comes forward, hitting u at will, making u pay for swinging punches....all u can do is get hit, and nothing else...its nothing u can do to stop him from opening that ass up...sux that he's so smart, yet so mean and cocky...it must be a nuttwister to lose to him, or to fight him period...yea I kno...and u do too
Oh come on now... really?!
Neither side have shown interest or have done anything to make anything happen.

......maybe they realized the fight with Pacquiao was probably not going to happen.
So they prepared in advance

no its not.
no arena has held more big fights in recent years than the mgm grand. its a small arena but it makes up for it i other areas. the betting will be through the roof for this fight and there will be lots of ppl coming to vegas for the fight who need a place to stay. this will generate bigger income than selling more seats in a bigger arena.
Cinco de Mayo - Mexican holiday
Guerrero - Mexican
Alvarez - Mexican
This sound the bell to you?

whats the big deal? so they cancel it, and get a bigger place.

I wouldn't say specifically Guerrero... but definitely a Mexican.
Also, when did Guerrero start talking about fighting Floyd.... IMO, it kind of came out of no where didn't it?
That or I just don't remember
You right about a Mexican for his next fight. Its so obvious that's why he book in advanced in May 5, a Mexican Holiday vs Guerrero or Alvarez both a Mexican. Just a coincidence isn't it?
The way I understand MGM grand garden arena is the biggest one in Las Vegas. They could make the fight at Cowboys Stadium in Texas but I doubt it would be so lucrative from financial perspective. Vegas is where the money's at, and they have lowest taxes for sports events also.
I think, that was intended for Guerrero all along.

You know..... arguing against the notion that by reserving May 5th, he was calling out Pacquiao.... is useless right? I mean, people took that reservation of the MGM as a fact! that Mayweather was calling out Pacquiao.
I do think if they fought though, they should get a place that has more seating capacity
