A quick question. If Floyd does fight Martinez and he wins, will it end there?? Or are people going to wonder what's next and tell him to fight Andre Ward?
Your trying too hard to protect Floyd & the reality is that he doesn't need it. Floyd beat Oscar at jr middleweight when he was still a decent fighter, remember?
That version of Floyd was actually smaller than this one. Now while I think Martinez beats him, make no mistake that the fight will be close & can go either way. Martinez is a far greater challenge than absolutely anyone at welterweight right now, period.
Im not protecting Floyd...I said no one is begging him to go up in weight other than to fight Sergio....Floyd WANTED to fight Oscar....he always wanted gotti and oscar, and then to retire....why would I protect Floyd from Martinez?...He cant adjust, and quite frankly he's just another opponent...all of them are the same..but the reality, is Floyd isnt obligated to fight Sergio cuz NO ONE Expects him to, cuz EVERTYONE thinks he's too big...its a bonus fight...Im not giving him an excuse, just in case he avoids Sergio....Im just saying if he never fought Sergio, no one would care cuz everyone would say "Of course he wont fight Sergio cuz he's too big"...no big deal bro calm down
No one ever asked Floyd to move up in weight besides, Martinez and really thats a bonus fight...Floyd is only obligated to fight the best in is weight class..no one's gonna judge him if he refrains from fighting Sergio, cuz most people already think Sergio is too big...Floyd can get away without having to fight him

My point is, eventually if he keeps winning, we are going to want him to move up to the next weight class right? He just beat the best guy in this weight class, who else is there to right in this weight class? And lets say he does beat Andre Ward. Whose next? Bernard Hopkins? Hell, eventually the K-bros.
My point is, there should be a limit. I'd love to see a Martinez fight. But after the Martinez fight, does he really have to prove himself at a higher weight??

Dont u get it man?..Pac's career is over....in boxing, its all about what u've done lately....and getting humiliated by a washed up Marquez, getting knocked down by a shot Mosley killed Pac's career...Floyd still has that aura of invincability ...Pac is just about shot, and now even tho he needs to retire, he keeps fighting so he can make easy money with his bum of the month club...He's past that point that Joe Lewis went....in a yr, Pac will SURELY be an espn fighter...get over it bro
Floyd can fight at 147-154lbs, I would be very surprised if Floyd fights Martinez at 160lbs.
Hell I would be surprised if he fought Martinez at 154lbs, because for a very long time Floyd has avoided the tough fights.
People called for Margarito, Cotto and Williams. Floyd decided to retire than take on the toughest challenges.
Then he came back and Pacquiao was the man, and Floyd for the first time asked for blood tests, and then when Pacquiao conceeded to the demands, Floyd took another year and a half off.
Now people are saying Martinez will be a tough fight for Floyd, do we really think Floyd will break a habit of a life time and take a tough fight, even at 154lbs let alone 160lbs.
If Floyd step up to the plate and beats Martinez next year at 160lbs then fair play to him, but I doubt it will happen.
And he will still need to beat Pacquiao who is the man at 147lbs and the p4p No.1
Mosley has been really the only fight fans demanded which he took, and he only did so when he had no other option and Mosley was 38 and coming off a 15 month layoff. Oh and Hatton, but he made us wait 2 years and made Hatton fight him at 147.
He never fought the most established guys in his divisions (140-147) since he moved up- Tszyu, Cotto, Margarito, Pac, or Paul Williams who was a 2-time WW champ. History says he won't be fighting Martinez.
He's only faced Golden Boy fighters since 2007, his last 5 fights. I expect him to continue doing so and i see him fighting either Ortiz again in May should Ortiz beat Berto, or if Berto beats Ortiz it could be Guerrero or the Maidana/Alexander winner. Eventually he will face Khan and then Canelo and retire. Mayweather and GBP are going to cash out on all they can get from each other.
He's the most skilled fighter in our generation, of course we will want him to keep challenging himself. Imagine if Floyd fights and beats Pacquiao, Martinez, Cotto, and Canelo...He could end up as the GOAT.

Fight Pac and Martinez in 2012, then he can do whatever he wants.
