Bute is a solid fighter. I just think he should be tested against better opposition before he can be called "great"..
But in the end, why should he? He's making millions in Canada, fighting nobodies and lesser names. Every time he fights in Quebec or Montreal the venue is sold out.
I don't question his willingness but he's an investment, a very good one, and he will remain protected until the pressure is reaching its limit. They wont let him in with Froch or Ward. Not now.
Andrade kicked his ass and got robbed in their first fight (but got careless in the 2nd), and it would really surprise me if his next opponent isn't a fighter who's either past it or less known.
Huh??? He just fought glen johnson so he's willing to step up competition. Cmon bro.
Honestly, I don't think beating Glen Johnson is enough to earn him a shot against Ward.
He should fight at least one other Super Sixer first.
Kessler, Froch, and Dirrell would all be good opponents for him to step up against. If he fights one of them next he can erase a lot of the criticism against him.
He should fight Ward now, Bute is more than ready. I'm just afraid we might be looking at a Chris John type of situation where because he's so marketable in Canada he opts to take safe fights and still makes big paydays. I sure hope that's not the case because Bute's a considerable talent and Ward is now p4p #6 on my list
