I think people are thinking this is a lot easier fight then it really is for Floyd..people seem to be forgetting that this isn't the same Floyd. He is still a fantastic fighter, but imo he is on a slow decline. Compare his fights prior to his first retirement against Oscar and Hatton to his last 2 against Victor Ortiz and Shane..in the last two he seems to be standing his ground, now he claims its to prove he can do it..but I think his legs aren't what they used to be..he's also been hit in the last 2 fights that he wouldn't have gotten caught with prior to the first retirement..so a pretty good technically sound, strong, athletic and accurate fighter with a good jab is a cake walk for this version of floyd? I think that is absurd. Victor Ortiz was making for an interesting and competitive fight...Canelo is better all around then Ortiz..just my opinion.
Thoughts?
I agree that Floyd is by far the better of the two..but all I'm saying is at this stage of his career canelo is a tougher fight for him then most people think..most likely the outcome will be a Floyd UD. But canelo does have the tools to make it competitive and worth buying..it is the only fight that makes sense right now if Pac vs May doesn't happen..and as for canelo not being ready..we all know that he's young and not fully developed..but give the kid credit, he's beat everyone they've put in front of him..there's not a fight right now that could be made involving him to prove he is a top fighter..he can't fight any top rank fighters..him fighting Ortiz, or khan would be to risky for Golden Boy to make..so who's there for him to fight to prove himself other than Mayweather?
Why is there so much hype with Canelo? Who has this guy fought? Better yet why is he world Champion? Who did he beat to become a world Champion? Was this guy a legit world Champion when Canelo beat him? Now people think he actually has a chance to beat Mayweather or even Cotto? Please stop.
I agree with everythin you just posted. Isn't Martinez fighting Macklin though? Really, Canelo is the only one available.
Available?...Like Martinez wont stop his plans for a Mayweather fight...Thats not an excuse...Cuz he's fighting Macklin...and its a long time between now and March....I wouldnt be surprised, if allot of things change in between now and then,...cuz Canelo is a hoe and I think at some point Floyd will think twice about fighting Pacmans leftovers..cotto
Floyd wants Pacquiao but if that fight can't happen for whatever reason like always, then why not Canelo?
Berto or Ortiz vs Floyd would have been the next logical fight for Floyd after the Pac fights fails vause they're the 2nd and 4rd best welterweights, but they're tied up and Floyd wants to come back in May.
Khan just lost and even if people thought he won, he just barely won, he's not ready for Floyd and he himself doesn't even want Floyd until 2013.
Maidana and Devon are easy fights to make because they're in GBP, but they're tied up and the winner should fight the winner of Ortiz-Berto II.
I don't see Guerrero as a worthy opponent until he actually beats a top 3 fighter at 140 or 147.
Bradley, Cotto, Jones all of these Top Rank fighters, Floyd wouldn't fight any of them, imagine, if Pac talks fall off, how the hell is he going to fight a lesser TR fighter. Not gonna happen.
Saul Alvarez is the most logical big money fight for Floyd, and Saul says he's ready now and wants Floyd now for May 5th. The fight should happen, Canelo has an exaggeratedly huge fanbase in Mexico, the fight is in a Mexican holiday week, they can sell it as a high profile fight of undefeated champions.
But with that said, the best fight out there for me is Mayweather vs Martinez. That is the fight between the two best fighters right now. Pacquiao is just a fighter I want to see get his ass kicked by Floyd to calm the hype, it's not a good fight for me, and it is not the "fight of the century", it's a mismatch that would end in a shut out in Floyd's favor. Pac should continue piling up his easy wins or keep trying to beat Marquez controversy-free, he is not on Floyd's league, and he is not a great fighter like many people say. He is a huge draw, i'll give him that, but he gets his ass kicked by Floyd.

Shane hit Floyd cuz His arms are WAAAAYYY Longer than Floyd's, and a little bit shorter than Martinez...Floyd was very wreckless against Ortiz, and Ortiz barely caught him....I dont buy that "losing legs" crap..If u do jump ropes with 10lb ankle wieghts and u loser ur legs, then the next training camp, u do 15lb ankle weights, and it will equate to what u used to do....The older u get, u train harder so all the aging stuff can be worked around...u can lose timing, but I dont think Floyd has lost it yet

he doesn't have the same legs but he's stronger now and has a hell of a lot of experience.
I agree Ortiz was giving him all he could handle untill Floyd got 2 free punches.
But Canelo will just sit back and lose a counter punching war. Floyd is longer, still quicker - and generally a better counter puncher than Canelo.
Canelo has a **** poor workrate.
Stop being so defensive.
Canelo is nothing to envy...
He had his hands full with Mathew Hatton...no way does he trouble Mayweather.
He was only 20 years old then, and has gotten better every fight since. meanwhile, Mayweather is getting older and older(although he doesnt have much wear and tear on his body, so his ring age isnt too bad.)
Im not saying that Alvarez beats Mayweather. but its possible that it could happen in the future, of course depending on how both of their careers progress.
no fan boy but people spouted off about mayweather riding a bike for 12 but then he walks mosley and ortiz down and all the sudden he doesnt have it...lets keep it real mayweather is giving everyone the style they wanted to see for 5 years so enjoy it
every fighter has to step up in competition sometime.
I would interested in this fight happening, for sure.
Id rather Floyd have an 'easy' fight then not fight at all.
its pointless to try and get some good thoughts on canelo on this forum every one hates and envys him canelo will prove them all wrong its a really tough fight for floyd.. i swear canelo is the 2nd most hated boxer him and floyd
Floyd is too fast, too skilled, too experienced and too polished for Canelo.
From Matthew Hatton, Rhodes, Gomez, and Cintron to Mayweather?
You gotta be kidding me.
