Richard Schaefer told me he's holding May 19 at Staples Center for @kingpete26-@AmirKingKhan 2. Said he has made offer to Peterson today.
Staples would be a terrible location for this fight.
Yes, Oscar territory. He should take a few lesser money fights first, give him more confidence, let him grow into the role, Khan will still be around trying to regain his tarnished glory for, say 2 more fights anyway.
Then again, if he lost before he fought Khan, he'd miss a big payday. Yet, it would take a very good fighter to beat him.
What gives you the idea GBP would offer him a crap deal now that he's the champion? They're not stupid.
They're NOT?? Well...when it comes to dealing with trying to outdo Top Rank.........

Yes, yes, yes! I will attend this event in Staples!! :boxing:
Should put it on the undercard of Mayweather's May 5th fight.
Nah, the fight's big enough to warrant it's own card. It would get plenty viewers on HBO and Sky Sports on it's own.
F*ck that. They should make the fight for March/April. May is too far away. If Khan wins that fight then he should fight again in July as opposed to November/December if the rematch is in May, because he has Ramadan in August.
At his age he should be fighting 3-4 times a year. No offense to any Muslims out there (some of my best friends are Muslim), but Ramadan gets in the way!
Khan will always be there for him now or later. If they give him a crap deal I don't think he should fight him. Last time he held out on negotiations he made more than double what he would have made if he took the fight initially.... if Khan doesn't offer Peterson anything good, I don't think they should accept a fight until they get serious.

Unfortunately for Peterson, he really has no other options that will pay him near what he could make in a rematch against Khan.
