When I say prime Roy Jones, I mean a few years before he lost to Tarver, when he still had all his muscles. So say 28-30 years old. Before jumping the gun, I'd like you guys to consider these things.
1. Chad Dawson will bring his A game, he thought Pascal was easy work and highly underestimated him. His mind clearly wasn't there, or whatever excuse he has. If he knows he has a fight against the great Roy Jones, he will not be careless and screw up an opportunity like that.
2. Roy Jones clearly has the faster hands and is more athletic, but Dawson is no slouch, he's up there as well.
3. Dawson has the height and reach advantage. He is slicker and has the better defense and combos.
Personally, I think this will look like a draw if it were to happen, but most likely Roy will get the nod in the end.
There is not one fighter I favor over prime Roy Jones. In his prime he was damn near unbeatable. Ya'll must of forgot.
Post of the day. In fantasy fights, prime Roy Jones doesn't lose to anyone. I don't care what anyone says that was the definition of untouchable.
Roy Jones would kill chad and then play wit him till the 12th round. When roy fought the refs loved him soooooo much they didnt stopped his fights so fast.
It is no hasty prediction to say that prime RJJ was entirely and completely beyond Chad Dawson.
It's just not.
Maybe ur a Margarito fan trollin' doin' some damage control?
Ok...carry on...
Not at all, the man in your avatar made me some good money tonight. Cotto wins in round 7-12, cash it :beerchug:. Remember Tarver was considered a big light heavyweight, and Dawson is even bigger than him. The size advantage can not be negligible. Jones is going to be cautious. Contrary to popular belief, this match will be close.
I'm not saying Dawson will win. I was just pointing out a few things to consider before making a hasty prediction. I think it is foolish to think RJJ walks through Dawson. Dawson would be the toughest opponent that RJJ has faced.

1.whatever excuse he had with pascal he'd have for this matchup.
2. he might be up there but not on the same level as roy.
3. he has like 2 inches on roy, that wouldn't make a difference.
i think dawson would be a tough opponent but roy would win a clear decision in this one.

Blah blah blah blahbedy blah...1998 RJJ beats Chad down like a termater can. Even tho Chad is no termater can. Roy was just that good. /thread
Another factor to consider, what boxer did Roy Jones face that was comparable to Chad Dawson in size and talent? I really don't see it on his record. Not to discredit RJJ.

Jones by clear decision. Chad would fall behind early and Jones would be content to play cat and mouse with his using his better speed and movement. I like Dawson, but nothing suggest to me that he beats a prime Jones.
