Firstly, I have wanted Cotto to whoop Margarito since their fight in 2008. Also, if you check my bets thread, I was waging on Cotto winning this bout. I am very happy for Miguel and happy for myself as a fan that Cotto defeated Margarito today but...
... It is obvious that Margarito's eye played a huge factor in this fight. If Margarito had 2 perfectly fine working eyes, would he have been more successful in his aggression?
1. His eyes started to close from the second round.
2. His vision obviously was gradually impaired enough not to see shots coming
3. I would have been harder for him to hit a target he couldn't see
Or was this all dependant on whether Marg could still 'punch' with no plaster in his hands?
How,why? because the fight got stopped? lol, Margarito will always be Cotto's pops, who knows what would've happened if Marg had both his eyes. :bottle:
Not tonight holmes. The Margarito who showed up tonight looked like the one who fought no name Garcia to a UD.

Pretty sure the fact that Margarito's punches didn't do near the damage as they did the first time around proves.
Quite making excuses for your guy, Margarito fans didn't think the eye was gonna be a problem nor did his team or several top of the line doctors.
Stop making excuses and take your fighter's defeat like a man, it's not like you lost in the ring tonight.
Dude, your man was exposed as a cheater and a fraud tonight. Live with it.

What point in his career was he ever fast?
Jesus dude seriously?
Stop posting tonight, you are clearly delusional?
Margarito would've won? Are you serious? Did you even watch the fight?
It would've been close, prob majority decision/UD for Cotto. Margarito further demonstrated why he's a one dimensional bum. Cotto trained to exploit Margaritos flaw, maybe a rematch against the fabled warrior he fought in '08 would boast different results, and cause for Miguel to train a little differently. I didn't see Cotto hurt once tonight. If only Margarito was a complete fighter.
To me, Margarito followed Maussa's idiotic gameplan tonight and completely blew the lotto. It's the same fight lol. Skip to 6:00!
Cuz Cotto didn't lean on the rope and Margarito moves at snail pace now. By the time Margarito catches up to Cotto, Marge's head is tagged multiple times. Repeat sequence 30-40 times and there is your fight. Margarito did not have speed or chance to trade with Cotto.
Agreed.
Cotto fought a much better fight this time round with movement (turning) and switching directions. He wasn't as predictable as the first fight also. Planted his feet a lil more when throwing his right hands too.
At no point in or before the fight did I feel Margarito would defeat Cotto.
On the other hand, as a Cotto fan, I would have loved to have seen him destroy a good and healthy Margarito. His eye was definitely a huge factor.

We saw the Margarito in the first fight with 2 good eyes have the same thing done to him.......so the answer is NO.
The only real difference in this fight was that Margarito's shots in the first half didn't have the same damaging and stamina draining effects it did in the first fight.
I think we can all agree that Cotto can outbox Margarito any day of the week. The question was really can Margarito inflict enough damage to slow Cotto down for a late round stoppage.
The answer was that Margarito hasn't broken anyone down of note since getting caught with the plaster raps.

He is MUCH slower now. Looked at his movement in his last fight against Cotto versus tonight. He ain't doing sh1t. Plus, Cotto did not stay and lean on the rope like last time. I don't think result would be different.
Tony would of won like he did on the 1st fight.
Tony clearly has his power as you could see from the very little he landed, he did damage.
Cotto had a decent fight, let's be serious. Yes, he worked on the movement, but he was basically going backwards. He did a quite amount of errors but is lucky Tony didn't make him pay for it.
Tony did a bad job at cutting the ring off but yet again, his vision was practically gone midway round 2.

the reason he lost is because he is a finished fighter. he got outboxed the entire fight, if his eye wasn't messed up he would've just gotten outboxed for the last couple rounds and lose a clear decision.
