who are the universally respected (or liked) fighters of today?

Marquez, Martinez, Maidana, Morales

Well the list here would be quite short because there is a lot of idiots on here who seem to discredit even the best fighters and the humble fighters anyway it's pathetic. The fighters who are either respected or liked are: Donaire, Mayweather, Adamek, Chavez Jr,Marquez, Alvarez,Cotto,Mosley, Bute, Martinez, Ward, Tua, Vitali, Wladimir and Pacquiao. The fighters I listed are either respected because of their skills or liked because of their personalities or even both. I know there is more I'm just listing who I think would be respected or liked.

While no one respects Mayweather as a person, I think everyone respects his skill in the ring

Froach certainly isn't liked by everyone, but he is well respected. Morales gentleman Glen Johnson JMM Donaire Ward in the respected catagory

I think there are VERY FEW current fighters that are both RESPECTED and LIKED by all people. To be honest, Shane Mosley up until his fight with Pacquiao was considered as a guy who ALWAYS came to fight and was humble. But then he ditched Golden Boy AND fought pathetically against Pacquiao and all respect for him went out the window. So, respect and affection can change on a whim... BUT AS OF RIGHT NOW: Erik Morales Juan Manuel Márquez Sergio Martínez Jermain Taylor (not sure if he's still respected, though) Nonito Donaire I honestly can't think of anymore. I can think of a complaint that people have about A LOT of boxers but I'd be hard-pressed to find people that genuinely dislike or have no respect for the aforementioned fighters. I'd also mention Margarito. If it weren't for the controversy surrounding Antonio Margarito, I'm sure he'd still be respected and liked by general boxing fans. However, that's not the case unfortunately.

Pacquiao very favored in this sport

in the past I would have never questioned Morales, but then he went along with those crooks at the WBC and accepted one of their "championship belts" by fighting a nobody. Now I'm on the fence about him. I just can't accept the WBCs championship policy of he's mexican so give him a belt for defeating a bum then let him defend it against a bum. Its pissing on this great sport
