Cotto has been training at sea level and Margarito on high altitude if the fight goes to Denver who has a high altitude Cotto will be at a huge disadvantage against Margarito.
He cant control my ass. Cotto says I wont fight you there... - controlled
Then he'll lose the biggest payday of his career ... Cotto isn't fighting Margarito because he thinks he's a good guy and it's going to be a good fight, Cotto is fighting him because there's a lot of money involved.
I was a denver fan back when my boy A.I. got traded there but I actually didn't notice/know that. Interesting.
you wouldn't notice unless you look for it. it's not like you can tell if they play the 1st 15 minutes or 1st 18 minutes.
i only noticed because lakers announcers always mention it.
in fact every denver game almost they mention the elevation.
Wow, you're an idiot. Its well-known throughout the nba and fans that players don't like playing there solely because of this. Infact, it was part of choosing denvers run-N-gun style the last few years.
visiting nba teams actually change their substitution patterns when playing in denver.
usually starters play shorter minutes at the start of the game and go to the bench sooner than usual.
I agree that the altitude could present problems for Cotto, but then again this are circumstances that he can't control, so he should focus on training as hard as he can to be in the best possible shape.
Then again I found out a couple of weeks ago what you said, that Cotto was training at sea level, if I'm not wrong I think he was training in Florida. But then I found out also that Margarito is training in Toluca, one of the cities with higher altitude in Mexico (8,750 ft above sea level). Every boxer decides where he wants to train, and if Margarito is training in Toluca and Cotto in Florida well that's their decision, there are no excuses at the moment of the fight.
Margarito is having a hard training that's for sure, the guy lives in Tijuana which is at sea level, so I'm sure he had a hard time training at almost 9,000 feet, but he did it and he's going to have a lot of stamina on fight night that's almost for sure. Also Marquez trained in Toluca for his fight against Pacquiao, so you can tell if training at high altitude is an advantage or not, but if Cotto gets tired at the end it will be most likely because he wasn't at good enough shape to beat Margarito.

Very true and also not many from or around denver will appreciate this fight
Denver metro, 3.1 million, is over 1/3 (33%) Latino, mostly Mexican, and they would most definitely come out to support Margarito. However, the altitude thing would f**k with Cotto for sure.
However, people don't seem to realize that even Vegas is 2,000-3,000 feet above sea level, dry climate. Denver is 5,000+ feet above sea level, dry desert like climate, and it would effect Cotto for sure.
There's a reason that besides Las Vegas, not too many fights happen in Reno, Salt Lake, Denver, Colorado Springs, Albuquerque, El Paso, Phoenix, Tucson...the altitude in the SW states is no joke.
When's the last time basketball players complained about altitude while playing the Nuggets?
:pat:
didn't you go through this on another thread the other day?
just because it's indoors doesn't mean high altitude doesn't matter anymore.
Yup, is known by everyone in sports that unlles you are accustomed to the high altitude once you get there it has a big effect on your respiratory system.
The Nuggets have been one of the best home teams on the NBA for years and that is one of the reasons.
So, why does the Nuggets suck so bad at basketball outside their own court?
Don't tell me they have to get use to lower elevation while playing the majority of the NBA teams?
Actually they mention in the NBA2K11 commenting that visiting players complain fairly often.

sounds like a persoanl problem for cotto, they all get to choose where they train at. Cotto choose where he wanted to and Margarito choose where he wanted to.
