Good movement and effective counter punching cuts your output down by ALOT i remember posters saying"how can floyd beat manny when he throws 1000 punches a fight" wont happen because accurate counter punching makes you think twice before you throw and great movement keeps you thinking, To the educated fans this is boxing 101 but alot of posters on here are really new and green to this sport and thats ok if they were willing to listen and learn
Well what about margs the brawler who throws a ton of punches against the boxer in jotto?
That's because Cotto doesn't know the definition of clinching and how to consistently go to the body. He's going to be too gun-shy to ever unload like Mosley did. Margarito already has Cotto beat mentally, having that win over him.
true i agree but manny doesnt have the skill to adjust, punch and move effectively,he looks great when you are right in front of him,but once you present movement and angles he looks down right sloppy to be honest, roach didnt even have any info to offer him in the jmm fight, its like all they teach is throwing punches...he has good footwork but it isnt effective if you cant utilize it when another fighter shows movement, how can he not know how to use his great footwork to cut off the ring??i dont get it,he has extremely fast feet but all that speed is useless if you cant use it when needed
I get your points but I sometimes think Pacquiao isn't that patient as well, technically he isn't as good as Mayweather still but Pacquiao could be the better fighter I think you get what I mean. We will only know if they fight though
Al Bernstein himself said that. :lol1:
I like Al, but sometime's he say's some strange things.
But yeah, I agree mostly. It's not necessarily a given that a boxer/counterpuncher will cut down a pressure fighter's output.
Some counterunchers struggle with pressure and of course vice versa.
But in terms of the Pacquaio-Mayweather fight, I personally have been saying for years that it's inevitable that Mayweather at the very least reduces his output quite drastically.
lol school???lol most say he lost.this is schooling
Manny did not beat Marquez. As for floyd he had all the advantages like he likes to have. Case in point when he sucker punched Ortiz. Di wonders for Victors career though.
Against Joshua Clottey, Pacquiao threw 1,231 and landed 246.
Against Antonio Margarito, Pacquiao threw 1,069 and landed 474.
Against Miguel Cotto, Pacquiao threw 780 and landed 336.
Against Shane Mosley, Pacquiao threw 727 and landed 224.
Against Marquez, Pacquiao threw 578 and landed 176
floyd is doing the running scared style schooling
manny does the moving forward schooling
expect the moving forward one gets hit more than the running scared
You dont know much about boxing dude; but go Manny right bahahahaha he doesn't stand a chance against the Money Man
there certainly seems to be a lack of appreciation for highly skilled counter punchers like JMM and FMJ, this to me is what been a great boxer is about, hitting and not getting hit and to me this can be just as exciting to watch as an out and out brawl, JMM showed Pac aint the untouchable god many of these kids think he is and when he faces the best in the world you will see he aint nowhere near the the best, personaly i think this is why Pac is doing all he can to avoid this fight as the shattering of this illusion would spell disaster for how he is precieved.
people would always say that dumb s hit.how can you stop manny when he throws so many punches? yet we just seen mannys last 2 opponents cut mannys punch output in half, i guess it wasn't as impossible as alot of people thought
Pacquiao will school Mayweather
Pacquiao counterpunched Marquez a lot more than Marquez counterpunched Pac
it will be the same way with Floyd
You, UmissUpay, and skip bayless should all get together and have a great discussion about your boxing expertise!
:dunno:
Yes this is true. However it took JMM 3 fights to really have Pacquiao fully timed. People are mistaken if they don't think Mayweather is going to have to get comfortable adn adjust to the way Pacquiao attacks and his speed/ strange punches.
Mayweather will begin the fight with zero prior experience of Pac's speed. Marquez had a huge advantage having already fought 24 rounds with him.
Marquez had Pac timed after the first round in the first fight. In my eyes he's 3-0 vs Pacquiao
do you know what cutting off the ring is?
i wonder
of course i do ive been boxing for over half my life..amazign a world class fighter like manny cant do it...and his world class trainer aint caught on to this...he needs to learn a thing or 2 from margarito about cutting a ring off

@2:50 Says it all really. ^^^
Pacquiao is going to be utterly frustrated. He was frustrated with Mosley and Cotto backpedalling, he looked frustrated with Márquez at times and has difficulty cutting off the ring effectively.
I've always been confident of Mayweather beating Pacquiao, but with Pacquiao's last performance, I could see him becoming more and more frustrated if he doesn't get Mayweather's respect early.
Mayweather will make Pacquiao pay for all his mistake. Marquez is slower and he made Pacquiao paid.

Al Bernstein picked Pacquiao to win a decision simply because of his activity, he didn't even make a complete analysis. There is more to winning than just throwing punches.
If Marquez and Mosley made Manny miss that many times, how the hell does he stand a chance against Floyd? To top it off Floyd is also gonna get in the pocket, smother him, tie him up and work the body.
But that theory does not apply to all fighters. There are a few fighters who's punch output does not drop, Pacman isn't one. He gets confused & frusterated by movement & counter punching. But that does not apply to all volume fighters.
