Crazy enough. This same JMM beat Pacquiao last night. 2-3 years older than he was vs. Floyd mind you.
Just wanted to know the thoughts on the JMM-Mayweather fight. Does he get credit?
Props to JMM. Looked amazing last night.
Poll to come.
Floyd Never tried to make the weight, he cheated Marquez.
Juan Manuel Marquez will always trouble Pac.
Theres a reason Mayweather has not accepted a fight with Pac, Mayweather will not trouble Pac as much as Marquez does. Pac vs. May will be a tough fight for both guys.
Sorry to say, if Marquez causes Pacquiao problems then Mayweather definately will! The only way to get to Mayweather is to the body and Pacquiao is not a body puncher. Pacquiao said in the interview that he struggled with Marquez's counter punching. Floyd is the best counter puncher in boxing. You do the maths!
Seriously people are you even paying attention to boxing? Floyd won a fight of counterpunchers that's all, and he gets credit for that (not that much really, since he forced Marquez to be the aggressor in that fight). Comparing that fight with Pac-Marquez III makes no sense at all.
Completely different approach by Marquez. Against Mayweather he played the aggressor role. Stayed in front of Mayweather, showed no respect for Mayweather's punches. Very little backward movement compared to his fight against Pacquiao.
If you watch his fight against Pacquiao, he was in constant backward mode, kept an unusually wide separation between himself and Pacquiao. That's obviously to try and nullify some of the speed by keeping his distance. Any forward movement by Pacquiao and he was on his back foot. Whereas against Mayweather he stood his ground for the most part and tried to exchange. This was the same strategy used by Mosley, the constant backward movement.
I think Pacquiao and his team got caught off guard expecting Marquez to fight like his previous fights. They got sucked in by Marquez' statements of going for the knockout, obviously as part of his strategy.
Not really. Floyd deserved marginal credit for that win and he still does.
It's just a styles thing with Marquez and Pacquiao. I don't think Marquez beats the other top guys at WW/JMW.
If you didn't notice Marquez was the Aggressor in the Mayweather fight. It would have been a closer fight if the bigger man was the one trying to walk down the smaller guy because JMM would be able to use his counter punching skills and measure the distance for his punches better. Against Pacquiao he is mainly in counterpunching mode. Marquez is a master counter puncher and good offensive fighter. However, when he had to take the lead in fights, he loses like against Chris John.
This makes sense.. Plus the pee drinking, medieval workouts of rock lifting jmm = loss to Floyd
did they? because marquez was the one with an eye nearly shut
....and. Who was hurt more times? Who landed cleaner punches? who controlled the fight? which team went back to their corner dejected after the fight..............??
i love this argument. so basically ur saying mayweather would get no credit for beating pac rite?
obviously he does since pacquiao is proven to have the physicality to take on bigger men
you can have two people who are in the same weight class
but only one guy that can take bigger heavier guys because of his power or speed
this happens alot in the gym
if you know anything about boxing i dont see why you morons cant see this
when it goes over pacquiao, the skeletol density and weight becomes to much for marquez, pacquiao is the same small guy with enlarged muscles and that's it, marquez can put on muscle and fight the guy his size(actually shorter) on par
notice how floyd hurt and knocked marquez down and even looked like he was capable of stopping marquez
floyd was much bigger, in ever way, height, reach, weight, size
but this is also besides the fact that marquez was fat vs floyd
yup!!...I agree with this^^^^^^^^^^^^^...it made Manny look like he should be fighting in the golden gloves tourneys....dude looked like he should still be fighting with head gear on :lol1:
Well they certainly scored the fight like both fighters were wearing headgear.......
nahh, it just makes pac look worse imo. floyd is by far the superior of the three in terms of boxing skills tho. i dont see how that can be argued.

was marquez 150 vs floyd? must've missed that
was marquez not fat?
he looked exactly the same clown.......how anyone can say otherwise is a joke.....i think he was also 142 at the weigh in, just like this fight. Get over it!!!!! It's a style mismatch!!! Manny will do better against Floyd than JMM ever could (against Floyd that is), but he doesn't want the FIGHT!!!!
Mayweather on fight night vs Ortiz = 150 pounds
What did JMM weigh on fight night vs Manny?????????????
Was it 150.......:fing26:
Floyd is a genius at putting on the right amount of muscle and making the weight.....Ortiz was a full 17 pounds heavier on the night, yet it didn't look like he was.
JMM did not win more than 30 seconds of any round at the same weight he just fought MP at, and he was 2 years younger. Styles make fights, and obviously a counterpuncher going up against a better, bigger, faster and smarter counterpuncher isn't going to end well.
Counterpunchers GENERALLY also do better in rematches.....this should be obvious to everyone even more atm, with JMM fighting better in each subsequent fight with Manny.
If Manny and Floyd fight and Manny doesn't land a massive shot or KO Floyd inside the first 4 rounds it's over......and he can forget about doing better in a rematch.....Floyd would be even more decisive in a rematch!!!!!

I've always given Floyd credit for the win. Plus he didn't even use his size advantage vs JMM or it could have been a KO. People just are very jealous when it comes to PBF.
ofcourse he used his size advantage you dipsht
he doesn't have a choice, not only is mayweather bigger framed with the heavier skeleton, marquez can't hurt someone that big and heavier, and floyds punches obviously have more of an effect when he's fighting someone so much smaller
if you saw the fight you'd have noticed the huge size discrepency
and this is not to mention marquez' lovehandles on fight night vs floyd as oppossed to pacquiao
there was really not that much difference in the jmm they fought. it was the difference in the two fighters fighting him. jmm wasnt that fast on saturday. he was sharp in both fights, but yea. i dont see ur point.
I think Pac clearly fought the better version. But yeah, my main point is that I thought JMM looked sluggish and his timing was off due to moving up 2 weight classes for the first time. I disagree with you saying he looked sharp vs. Floyd. He didn't carry the weight well.
Against Pac he moved up gradually, had a tune up at 140, and got a real nutritionist/fitness advisor. In addition he had the benefit of having experience fighting at the weight and knowledge of how the added bulk effects his speed/power/style before he got in the ring this time (sparring doesn't prepare you for the real thing in this regard). You're right there wasn't THAT much of a difference, but all the little things add up.
I think Pac's JMM (III) would have been slightly more competitive vs the actual version that fought Floyd. Do you disagree?

I want to vomit those whose saying Floyd didn't use his size against Marquez. You think the height and reach advantages was there for fun? And when Floyd didn't want to lost his 2 lbs size and just came in overweight is just for fun as well?:fest30:
Pac's JMM (III) >>> Floyd's JMM. Extra age and all. Yeah I said it.
But, I definitely give Floyd's win much more credit now than I did before. I still believe JMM didn't put on the weight properly in the Floyd fight while he did for Pac.
