The only thing that was exciting about last night, was the fact that Kirkland was able to get back up and hurt Perro too. After that it was all Kirkland.
Perro was fighting back, but, dude had no strength left. It was all instincts on Perro's part and alot of toughness, his punches were no longer fazing Kirkland.
Do I wanna see a rematch, hell yes. Like many of you, I thought Perro's downslide began when he punched himself out in the first round.
But, major props to Kirkland, he just had that determined look and his demeanor right after he got back up from the KD, that it was simply gonna be his night no matter what happened in that squared circle.
I had picked Perro to win, but, really it was a pick 'em fight for me. Just because I ain't seen much of either guy prior to last night and I just felt that Perro was a better puncher, meaning he threw compact punches and Kirkland gets wild with his and Perro's chin was better.
For some reason though, I would be more excited if Kirkland's next foe is Canelo rather than a rematch with Angulo.
You know what, man. The Kirkland that fought Ishida and the Kirkland that fought last night were two different fighters.
Not to take anything away from Ishida's win, but, I just don't think Kirkland "got up" for that fight. I mean, just look at Kirkland's physique when the Japanese whupped his &ss compared to last night.
Judging from last night, I think Kirkland is back. But, I also think that Kirkland is gonna be that type of fighter who will have an inconsistent career when facing Top 5-10 contenders or World Champs.
Good post. I agree with your assessment of his last two fights.

I think its an exciting division junior middleweight to middleweight.
No war. It was an exciting first round though.
Not exactly sure if Kirkland is back. He'll always be exciting as hell and flawed as ****. I look forward to seeing who they match him up with next. You know what, man. The Kirkland that fought Ishida and the Kirkland that fought last night were two different fighters.
