According to @BobArum he is now planning (which HBO wants) is to match @Brandon_Rios1 & Gamboa on Jan. 28, not to wait until summer. #boxing
I think this fight would look like the first few rounds of Rios-Acosta but for 12 rounds
Ditto.... too much boxing ability against a crude come forward fighter
If Gamboa can keep the speed and power he has at 126 when he moves to 135, he should be ok. But 9 pounds is a lot of weight, and against a much bigger, stronger opponent. I would have preferref they move him up slowly or let Donaire make his way to 126lb.
^^^yeah I dunno, Gamboa is a freak of nature, but that 9 pounds is a lot to put on immediately. He might do like Manny and not actually hit the limit immediately, might weigh in at 132 so it doesn't slow him down too much. Good Sh*t nonetheless.
Gamboa doesnt have much in the tank, all of his decisions have shown he isn't nearly the same fighter late. Rios just gets stronger.
Aside from that, its a mismatch in everyway IMO, rios just too big, too strong, too powerful. Why isn't Mikey getting a crack at Gamboa? pffft
seriously, what the fuck is wrong with arum? that's the perfect fight to do.

this would be crazy to happen. i would favor rios on size alone but i'd be rooting for gamboa deep down. tough tough fight for gamboa, can't see him winning this fight in january.

These are major concerns. One would think something's gotta give. Gamboa's got amazing natural speed and athleticism. I believe he'll keep those gifts going forward. I don't see his power necessarily carrying, though. I'm sure he'll still be able to get your attention, but he won't have the same effect on 135 pounders as he did against featherweights. On the flip side, Yuri just might be able to take a heavier punch. We'll have to wait until "El Ciclon's" meeting with Rios to find out the answer to those questions. Looks like we might not have to wait too long!
