does his 'stock' really go down
if i was promoting him i would be scratching n clawing my way to making the fight.
the possibilty of rematch(s) could equal more $$
how is it not 'win win'
Pacquiao would get exposed lose all of endorsements and would go back to his pre DLH status
Mayweather fight would be his last fight thats why they passed on it on March last year
If Pac loses? It's more like WHEN Pac loses. The world is not going to be surprised. The shock value comes if Floyd loses. Does Manny's stock go down? No, I don't think so. The status of P4P king goes right back to where it has rightfully belonged for as long as Floyd Mayweather is an active fighter.
He'll still be able to make crazy paydays and the pressure of being the best doesn't weigh in on him. He can fight weight drained fighters, fighters coming off of losses, fighters who have suffered career setbacks, fighters who have been brutally knocked out, and older fighters without anyone criticizing him. Losing isn't such a bad deal when you think of the pressures that are relieved from his success or failure. If he wins, he's the effin MAN. Hands down. He will also be able to win the lawsuit, if he continues to persue it. Proving clean by OSDT and dominating/KO'ing Floyd will win him the case and solidify his spot as this generation's best fighter, period. I will admit that I was wrong about Manny and PEDs. I'd admit that I was wrong about his ability to defeat the most technically sound fighter EVER, and his determination to win overcame the best skill set ever to lace up.
It's a dream match and me, the fan, wins no matter who wins the fight. I'm picking Floyd by late round stoppage. With all things considered, Bob Arum might put a damper on the fight. He's already acting up and it doesn't look too promising. I know that it's all over the place that Floyd Mayweather is looking for Manny Pacquiao to meet him in the ring on May, 5 in the MGM Grand. Bob Arum needs to cut it out. Manny fights in May, at the MGM Grand. Acting like Floyd's trying to control things is not going to help. He knows when's the biggest weekend in boxing is. He knows where the hottest venue in boxing is, so he should stop acting like a grumpy old prick and give the fans what they want, or your PPV numbers will take a mega hit.
So help us GOD, if Bob stalls this fight, he will be public enemy #1.
1. if he doesn't fight him he will be remembered as a great who never proved himself against the best in his era
2. if he fights and loses he will be remembered as a great fighter who lost against the best in his era - is that really so bad?
3. But if he fights and WINS he will be remembered as not just the best fighter of his era but an ATG and people will talk of him in the same breath as the very best to ever lace up a pair of gloves.
so really its a no brainer if he believes in himself he should go all out to make the fight happen. Same goes for money only much much worse people will just say he cherry picked his way to a perfect record and avoided the one guy who could have beaten him.
I think a loss for floyd would destroy his legacy a loss for pac and he'd still be remembered as great. I think the fight is more make and break for floyd. If he wins he confirms his status if he loses its destroyed.
If Floyd loses then people will discredit every win from Genaro Hernandez to Chico Coralles to JL Castillo to Zab Judah...
Floyd's entire career will have been perceived as a cherry-picked joke which was brilliantly navigated by Floyd, his uncle, and his daddy (even though he fought for Bob Arum for a decade)...
If Pacquiao loses then the question will be, what's next for Floyd Mayweather? Will he take on tougher tests? Young up and comers like Amir Khan, big guys like Sergio Martinez...
The reason I know this will happen is because after Floyd beat ODLH, Merchant started asking him about Cotto and Margarito (Pacquiao wasn't relevant yet)...
The thing is, most people think Floyd will win, think that Floyd is supposed to win... They just wanna see how he does it and be able to say they saw the best boxer to ever lace em up...
The way he lost would have a lot to do with it. If he was KO'd in a few rounds (better chance of winning lotto) then yeah.
But if it's close UD like the Floyd vs. DLH then I say no.

Manny would be the underdog going into the fight (if made). Floyd would be picked by most to win anyway. IMO.
Should be no rematch clause, so both leave it in the ring that night.
if floyd knocks him out or totally school him then yeah, i guess his stock will go down.
this topic is too premature though since they can't even get their acts together to make the fight.:nonono:
Its tough though because going into this fight, Mayweather will be the favorite. Resume's are what makes a fighter great and, well, even with a win over Pacquiao...
I agree.
A win over Pacquiao takes Mayweather's resume ahead of Pacquaio's. IMO.
PaC IS NOT ALLOWED TO FIGHT FLOYD..WHY DO YOU THINK HIS TEAM IS PISSED OFF ABOUT FLOYD ACTUALLY WANTING THE FIGHT?? THEY DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT FLOYD THEY KNOW PAC WOULD GET WHOOPED..AND IF PAC GETS WHOOPED THEN TOP RANK LOSES...EVERYONE WOULD LOSE..IMAGINE IF THE CONGRESSMAN GETS BEAT..IF HE HITS THE CANVAS..NO ONE WOULD SUPPORT HIM ANYMORE..HIS PATHETIC POLITICAL CAREER WOULD DISAPPEAR TOO...THAT'S WHY ARUM KONCZ AND THE REST OF THE CREW ARE COMING ALL OUT AND CLEARLY STATING THAT THEY DON'T WANT THE FIGHT.
THEY RATHER HAVE PAC FIGHT THOSE TOP RANK BUMS AT CATCH WEIGHT...AS LONG AS HE WINS EVERYONE IS WINNING...ARUM,TEAM PACQUIAO AND OF COURSE THE PACTARDS...THEY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BOXING SO THEY WOULD PAY FOR ANYTHING AS LONG AS THEY CAN WATCH PAC AND HIS JUICY CALVES MOVE.
ps: junior gong is a emotional pactard so don't diss pac when he's around :lol1:
His stock doesn't go down but it concludes who the greatest fighter of this era is.
So a lot is riding on the fight. Especially for Pac who is generally considered the greater fighter currently.
