Ben Thompson asks Shane Mosley what he thought of Marquez-Pacquiao
I think that he's too small. He might be able to, because Pacquiao, to me, is not technically all that, so he might be able to catch Pacquiao with some stuff, but when Pacquiao catches him, if Pacquiao has the same stuff that he had with me, if he catches him with a touch, then Marquez is going down. If Mayweather can drop Marquez easily like that, if Katsidis can stun him like that at lightweight, Pacquiao, when he hits him, because I don't have a light chin, you know what I'm saying, I don't have a weak chin, so when Pacquiao hits him, he's going to hurt Marquez. The thing is it probably would have been better when they was at lightweight because they're both smaller and Pacquiao was smaller, but now Pacquiao is a full-fledged welterweight, you know. His ass is almost a jr. middleweight. He's full-fledged, his legs are big, he's built up, so Marquez is going to have problems.
Marquez said he's not going to run like Shane did and he's going to fight and all that other bull****, so he's asking for it. He's gonna get his ass knocked out. He's asking to get knocked out by what he's doing. Like I said, he didn't feel that strong to me physically. Maybe that's because I'm physically stonger anyway, but as far as punches are concerned, he just touches you and you're ****ing bruised up. My whole face was bruised up and he really didn't hit me that much.

He doesn't owe anyone money...I don't know why anybody expected more from a shot to pieces fighter.
personally i expected him to at least try to win.
shot or not, try.

You have a very good point. We all knew Shane was losing, but I don't think anybody expected him to lose that badly and in full retreat mode...
If that wasn't a sign that Shane has to hang 'em up, I don't know what'll convince him to retire.
When JMM said "He wasn't going to run like Shane," he pretty much said "Shane fought like a bitch." Which quite frankly I agree with as far as that particular fight was concerned.
2008 was not that long ago.
manny has changed a lot from 2004 when they 1st fought but not that much since 2008 in the rematch.
maybe a little bit bigger and stronger.
i think jmm will surprise people how competitive he will be.
he might still get koed and he'll probably lose but i think jmm will have his moments. he just knows how to fight pacquiao.
Tua, I usually don't agree with your posts, but I'm agreeing with you on this.
Shane just wants to see JMM knocked out because he peddled his bike backwards all night to avoid being KO'd for the 1st time in his career.
Like some of you guys have already said, I think Pac has decent punch power but add into the mix the speed and angles and combos and the sheer volume of punches he throws and you are eventually going to get caught with combos and be in trouble
Dear Marquez...
Manny has changed A LOT thanks to the Ariza shakes. You have NO idea of what you are getting into in 2011. You will be hurt bad.
Sincerely,
Reality

I was thinking the same thing about how Pacquiao may load his gloves in someway because he beat up Cotto's face as bad as Margarito did with plaster.
..and Cotto had been in many wars but his face had never looked like it had been beaten by a baseball bat like it did aside from the Margarito(we know he used plaster) and Pacquiao fight(so what does that tell you?).
i wonder what all the cotto stans are gonna say after cotto gets his ass kicked by marg again.....
Not really. By him saying "the same stuff," he's using a cop-out and saying that Manny may have beaten him, but something wasn't right about him. He's not directly accusing Manny of loading his gloves, being on performance enhancers, etc., but he's rationalizing his own behavior in the fight by passive-aggressively taking away from Manny's abilities.
Manny Pacquiao "doesn't hit that hard" in the same sense that Mike Tyson "didn't hit that hard," as Larry Holmes once insinuated. Manny is a smaller guy in a heavy division, as was Tyson. His punching power isn't derived from brute force (George Foreman, Sonny Liston) or leverage (Thomas Hearns, Julian Jackson) but from explosion. He doesn't sit down on his punches at all. He's entirely mobile while he's punching, contorting his body into so-called "awkward" positions. He's an "awkward" puncher because he's not following the same punch path and pattern as a boxer "should," so his stronger opponents (Cotto, Mosley, Clottey) don't see the punches coming at all.
They don't see the punches, added to the fact that Pacquiao has an enormous amount of explosive velocity on his shots and an awkward style.
If his power was derived simply from speed, then every boxer with good hand speed would have a high KO ratio.
Perfectly said! But its in vain, Hugh Grant is beyond help. He actually really believes that Pac is better than Leonard!
Pacquiao's ability to bruise and batter faces is impressive.
Mosley still doesn't understand what he didn't do and thinks being negative was his best option. JMM will show him what he didn't do; if he gets stopped in the process so be it, but he is going to be competitive as long as he's in there.
yes, think so too...
Mosley speaks the truth, Marquez is going down and he's gonna stay down.
but even if that's the case JMM will probably garner more respect even with a stoppage loss because knowing him he will go after Manny until the end
once Mosley felt Manny's power he backed off the gas and coasted
IMO he has no room to talk
So you were stronger than him.
He doesn't hit that hard.
He just touches you and you get miraculously bruised.
Yet you ran from him, and say if JMM doens't he'll get knocked out by those touches.
Can he contradict himself any more?
SSM has confirmed once and for all and quite eloquently that Pac really does hit mammothly and mightily hard and is not just speedy and quite a hard hitter. Tecnically Pac is probably rather good, and much better than given credit for, but when people cant handle the power, Pac dont need to be so tecnical.
Some people have to be tecnical to win their fights like a famous boxer who dont fight that much.
But i cant see JMM going more than 3 rounds.
Yeah when you get old and shot things that didnt bother you in prime will seem so much more than the old days when you were a lion , Shane would have flogged Manny a few years back , you know when Manny was too scared to fight him even at a ridicules 144 CW , you guys are pathetic how you pump Mannys tyres up while he cherry picks the division into CW rorts .

The way I see it SSM is sore
but at the same time he tried to bully manny got stunned and started to box
had he thrown more punches he would have boxed circles around manny
but instead he did infact avoid the KO
Manny cant deal with a puncher with power and speed
Mosley had the power and speed to give manny fits but he didnt have the balls to throw
and that hurts me to say cause he is my Fav all time fighter but im keeping it real
