I was chilling at home and I started watching the current promos for Cotto/Marg 2 and I came across the interview Cotto had on SalSoul after Marg's. He admited that no one from his camp was in the locker room when Marg got his hands wrapped, because Margo's camp didn't send anyone either. This shiet blew my mind when I heard it, He basically stated that everyone was at fault. Anyways I just wanted to make it clear this is by no means evidence but damn it fuels that fire.
I asked Ariza after and he said Manny was in a messed up state. He said it was the hardest Manny had been hit and while it was a one sided beat down they still worried about the power Tony was throwing that night
Margarito's not a pushover, I agree. People thinking that Margarito's going to be taken out easily are mistaken.

^^^Post-Margarito...when we think of the Pacquiao-Margarito fight, we think of Margarito because he was the guy that came out of it with unbelievable facial damage. To Margarito's defense, it's not like Pacquiao came out of there unscathed, either.
This is incredibly awkward...
The arguments basically boil down to "Cotto said..." and "Tony's manager said..."
It's just best to let it go and concentrate on the fight. I for one expected this whole affair to be an open-and-shut case and now am looking it from another perspective, although to be honest I've been avoiding the plaster debacle and doing my best to avoid bringing up the "wraps" issue when discussing the first fight.
I'm Puerto Rican, and I enjoy fights and discussing fights with my fellow countrymen and Mexican posters, there is writing on the wall and a lot of suspicions that emerged in the wake of the plaster scandal. Having said that, nobody can say 100% (WITHOUT A SHRED OF DOUBT) that Margarito went in that fight with loaded gloves. Did Cotto look busted up? Yes. Did he take the worst beating of his career? Most likely. Did Margarito have a motivation behind loading wraps for this fight (if he did)? Yes. But at the end of the day, it's only that...pure speculation on our behalf.
It's kinda' awkward talking about the fight with casual PR boxing fans as they tend to IMMEDIATELY stray off to say "Cheater" as if it's been proven he was guilty in that fight. He was guilty for trying to load his wraps for Mosley, but for Cotto? No.
Yesterday, I was talking to my friend about not making any arrangements so he could come over to my house for the fight and he suddenly trailed off and went on a rant on how Margarito is crap this, crap that...and I'm like... :nonono:
So I just have to nod my head to their whacked out opinions because they'll just say that I'm a Margarito nuthugger or something like that. I was shaking my head after the Pacquiao/Margarito fight with people posting stuff on their status like: "Margarito's nothing without his wraps..."
I'm like, "C'mon, man...don't look at this as black or white." People now think that after Margarito's performance against Pacquiao, that he's powerless/featherfisted...
Feather-fisted=Yuri Foreman, Paulie Malignaggi, Ivan Calderón...
I tend to give Margarito a pass for that performance. He gave a good honest effort despite his dangerous, face-first style. He pushed Pacquiao's head back several times with uppercuts, hurt him good with a body shot in the sixth and endured punishment for 12 rounds. If he were a bum without power, he wouldn't have made it out of the third or fourth round. Pacquiao would've tattooed him even worse. So...
Anyway, looking forward to the fight, everybody sit down, have some chips/pizza, get your drink on (or so-da :rof:) and don't hope for a quick ending. Hope for a back-and-forth, edge of your seat, "I almost shat my pants" kinda' fight.
That is all...carry on!

you seemingly questioned the integrity of which I approach my job. If that was not your intent all good
for the record
I take my job very serious and with great passion regardless of who it is
I actually like Miguel a lot and have been a big fan of his before and after the Margarito fight. I don't play that game I like just about every fighter for the most part even ones I do not work with. I have fighters I really am not a fan of who I support but one would never know by the way I treat them.
and to be honest I don't I ever defended Margarito in here more than his manager who I will defend at length
anyways all good
Then is all good dude.
Huh????????????????? Did i offend you? if so it was not my intention.

That right there makes your opinion mean nothing. Me? yes I like Cotto as a fighter and right now is my fav but it stops right there I have no emotional ties to him because like you said i don't know him on the personal level he is not my friend. So I could easily make an argument for him or against him and it would be valid. You? obviously have feelings for Margarito manager and a lot of respect so you will believe anything he says. Your situation goes beyond some poster who nut hugs a fighter you are completly blinded by your feelings for your friend.
But let's end the debate because is not going to go any farther you believe what you want and I believe what I want. December 3rd will answer some of this questions and in the future many more asnwers will come out.
BTW I hope you don't let your personal feelings get involved with your job. I believe you are making Cotto's gloves for the rematch and you should put as much effort in to those as you would for someone like Rios or Margarito.
are you fukking serious?
this all translates into nothing more than a Cotto fan who wants to believe that the groundwork was there to allow Tony to cheat
again where is your non biased approach to this? hell not for nothing but I have one up on you
You? have no idea how Cotto is in real life and he knows probably less about you so in essence you're trusting a man you don't know very well
me? I believe a trusted friend who I have known for years and has been honest with me in everything including stuff that was hard for me to take.
and don't you think Cotto and his team will allude to anything that hints of misconduct just so their side could look like a victim to this alleged cheater? don't you think that if the heir of Cotto believing he was wronged is out there it makes the first fight in doubt thus making Cotto out to be the one avenging this?
it works both ways man only you want to see one side and one side only
I at least understand where this is coming from and largely do not debate this (you can check I rarely talk about this subject anymore)
however, I will go to bat for a friend of mine each and every time

1) Again i don't know if he witnesses every Margarito handwrap or not and I doubt you know that either because i doubt you were there for all of Margarito fights to answer that. If you give me some proof I will give you a different asnwer.
2) Again i can't answer that question but from reports Diaz was supposed to be there but he was busy and Cotto said nobody from Margarito's camp was send to check him either. Why would Cotto lie?
Again is a he said/she said bs and one side doesn't get the benifit of the doubt and is the way it is. If you ask most fans and most boxing experts they would go with Cotto's side of the story and not his manager or the vegas commision who clearly screw things up and are trying to save face.
um I have been there for every one since I have known his manager including Dallas and he has been at every wrappingof a fight I have attended. It's his role it's what he does while the other co-manager stays with Tony
sorry I respect the hell out of Cotto I am not like some here calling him Kneeguel etc
but this tinges on trying to save face just as much as you think Tony's manager is as well
Cotto fought his heart out but let's be honest, he took a knee to his nationalistic rival. There hadn't been a fight of this magnitude involving this rivalry since Vargas Tito so the build up of this was huge. Making this fight suspect saves Cotto a bit because now he can allude to this loss being tainted because of dirty tactics.
again it's fine I really don't care if that's what people believe I am done debating that merit just won't let my friend be discredited
oh and don't believe a word Diaz says
trust me on that one
and yours doesn't?
with all due respect....GTFOH with your alleged no bias approach to this we all know you are a fan of Cotto
you're angry your fighter lost, I get it, and the circumstance given by the Mosley fight allow you an avenue to have an excuse
fine again I care less
but again you call my friend a liar I will rebut. Simple as that.
let me ask you some questions please answer accordingly
1. IF Tony's manager witnesses EVERY handwrap of EVERY opponent Tony has had why would he all of a sudden not pick this opponent to witness considering at the time this was Tony's biggest fight of his career?
2. once you get past question#1 why in the world would Cotto's team allow Tony's manager in WITHOUT sending someone to witness Tony's hand wrapping?
didn't happen man you may want to wish it all you want but Tony's manager was present at Cotto's hand wrapping and vice versa
Cotto and his fans can whine all the want but that's it point blank

No I was not ther and neither were you.
Is your friends word against Cotto, Arum, Diaz and everyone in Cotto's team. They didn't check and it was one of the reasons Cotto fired his uncle. Again i rather believe Cotto than the manager of a convicted cheater who obviousy will do anything to make the guy that makes him money look good. I got nothing against you and nothing against your friend but they don't deserve the benefit of the doubt IMO. Is a case of he said/she said and Margarito's side have no integrity anymore and if your friend was a honorable man he would have dumped the cheater because that is what honorable people do they go away from people who do bad stuff.

talk sh1t about Tony Capetillo etc I care less

With all do respect this post makes you look really bias and anything you say regarding this matter should not be taken into consideration when talking about this topic. You work for the dude and you obviously have very strong feelings and admiration for him.

Guys most states do not supply with hand wrapping materials. The trainers and the boxers are responsible for taking all the materials needed which includes surgical type gauze and surgical type tape, which is what all major boxing organizations allow. Besides those materials, some states will allow pre-wrap, which a roll of foam like material used before taping and dress the hands. The trainer is or was allowed to pre-make the knuckles pads before a fight, however they are checked along with the gauze and tape by the state athletic supervisors at the time the boxers are getting their hands wrapped. This is or was allowed to cut down the time it takes in wrapping a fighters hands. However, in some states and some fight supervisor will not allow pre-made knuckle pads. You must make them in their presence.
The picture where Tony is holding up his hands showing a little bit of discoloration on the wraps could be from the inner lining of the gloves. If you ever boxed before you will know that some of the Reyes and Grant gloves use different color satin type of material in the inner lining of the gloves, which after using for a while and with the sweat of your hands causes the inner lining material to bleed. This discoloration of the material will stain the white gauze of the hand wraps from the frequent rubbing against the hand wraps while punching. Sometimes, the same gauze causes blisters around the knuckles, which also bleed due to repetitive punching. The picture means nothing.
among my many roles in this sport I still work for Tony's co-manager upon occasion finding sparring for Tony's fights (I am the one who got Henry and Love in camp)
I have known him since the Lujan fight. He is the one who goes over to the opponent's side to observe every hand wrap taking place. He was there in Mosley's room when the controversy surrounding Tony happened. He told me he literally walked into a storm of accusations and anger when he asked Tony what happened Tony shrugged and said it had something to do with the wrapping. From that point Sergio advised everyone that they will re-wrap and go forward
the man is literally one of the more honest people in the sport to a fault.
if he has been there for every hand wrapping of every one of Tony's opponents why wouldn't he be there for Cotto too?
people are grasping at straws trying to find every reason to point and go "aha!!!"
people can speculate all they want it's not like the actions in 2009 didn't warrant it. However, I will never allow the integrity of Tony's manager to be questioned without debate. It's fairly impeccable even among on the other side of the coin

Liying? that came from Cotto's mouth. Again i ask were you there in the locker rooms the night of that figfht? If not don't call me a liar because everything i said came from Cotto's mouth dudring interviews, a men who is one of the most respected in boxing.

Kizer looks like a complete idiot in that second article. He first talks about how hands on Evangelista was with Margarito but then says he was not there and is going by what he was told. By the looks of it kizer knows he ****ed up and trying to save face.
Evangilista wasn't he was busy tending to Cotto
neither was Brian or Phil, they send someone Tony's manager didn't recognize prior.
stop lying man
Tony's manager was there to witness Cotto's wraps like he does for every fight Tony has

I'm quick to confess that I'd take Cotto's word over Tony's manager as well, but Eaner's a solid poster with inside knowledge (and I THINK he makes trunks/robes/gloves for fighters)...so, I wouldn't be surprised if what Eaner said is true. The guy's knowledgeable. Kinda' bummed if it were true, though. It'd mean that Cotto's making things up (the issue being that he DIDN'T send anyone to Tony's dressing room).
