I said just a tad over 1 million. Dont know how much you can trust a company when they are trying to keep their money maker on a pedastool, but if true, very good numbers i think.
Maybe its different in America, but I am football mad like most of this country and I can honestly say I have never heard anyone boast about how much a player earns.
really?? transfers fee's??samuel eto'o??
you never heard any of that?

I live in England and as I said things are this way in the UK because people support the club and have passion for the game. They don't boast how much a player earns because the individual players are not their reason for watching the sport.
With boxing, the majority of fans support a fighter and not the sport itself. It's not exactly surprising as the majority of fans have less exposure to the sport. Most men in this country kicked their first football before they could even walk, the majority of adults have never laced up a pair of gloves so their love for the sport is more vain/superficial.

Thats because NFL/NBA/NHL, ect.....all have a code of conduct. Boxers are in sense, their own bosses, and dont have a centralized structure like other pro sports do.
there's probably been more threads on that subject than buys...
i seriously dont understand the obsession with ppv number on here
i agree...none of us are getting paid 1 red cent...well at least most of the people on here...I do pay attention to them because it does hold weight when negotiating a fight...as in who gets a bigger purse and how fighters can price themselves out of fights...
you got a link that a HBO exec said this?

I don't disagree with what you're saying I just think it is faulty comparing the fighters to football players. In boxing people are fans of fighters, in football people are fans of a club primarily.
The football fans I have come across that support players instead of the clubs do actually boast about how much a player earns. It is a rarity because as I said before most football fans have affection for the club and what passing players contribute to it.

I have to disagree with you about that, I think bragging about another mans earnings to score points off the other guys fans is pretty grotesque and embarrasing whether its a team sport or an individual sport such as boxing.

Understand where you're coming from but you are comparing apples to oranges. Football fans primary support is directed at the club. If a club is bringing in 100s of millions a year and has a 60k+ stadium those things will be mentioned when speaking to rival supporters.
Of course silverware and quality of players comes first in arguments.

Good post, I dont get it either. Here in England it just wouldnt occur for a football fan to brag about how much their teams striker was paid, it just wouldnt happen, and to be honest, people are generally disgusted with some of their wage deals and its made worse when the player doesnt entertain.

No you guys are way off. It's largely an american thing o brag about pay days and fame. Whenever those american eggball vs football arguments start up they always brag about pay days and TV ratings "dur superbowl is most watched event in sport durp"

It's pretty hilarious actually. You never hear anyone talking about Tom Bradey's superbowl ratings. You don't hear NBA fans b1tching about who has a more lucrative contract. I've always thought talking about someone else's money was chick sh1t. If you have a sack hanging between your legs, putting another mans money in your mouth just doesn't look right to me. But hey, boxing has degenerated into a kind of sideshow type sport. I guess everything should be expected when your relegated to the fringe...
