Emanuel Steward's face says it all.
The experienced coach can not hide the disappointment he feels when asked about the fight between his former protege Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito, which will take place next December 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
But though no longer in the corner of the Puerto Rican champion, Stewart did not think twice predict that Cotto will win the rematch against Margarito.
"Cotto should win without a doubt. He is much better fighter than Margarito in all facets, has more power and has taken much better care in the past two years, "said Steward to Primera Hora yesterday after attending a training seminar in Puerto Rico.
"Cotto has not received the punishment that Margarito has in the past two years. Cotto is also stronger and will benefit from having the puerto rican fans support in New York "he said.
However, if Cotto meets with the prediction of Steward, the veteran coach will miss a great celebration.
"That is a moment I dreamed of, being inside the ring and celebrating with Miguel. My mission has always been to be a part of its rebirth as a fighter, but is not going to happen, "lamented Steward. "The Puerto Rican fans is the best in boxing and that moment is going to be great."
Cotto replaced Steward and instead appointed Cuban coach Pedro Luis Diaz last September due to schedule conflicts between Steward and Cotto as to the date to begin training as the coach said.
"I had to finish my commitment to Andy Lee and had a conflict with the wishes of Michael who wanted to train for eight weeks. I told him that six was enough as we had done before. But we could not reach an agreement, "said Steward, who did not rule out returning to the corner of Cotto.
"I really could not tell now If I will ever return with Miguel. Who knows? I'm still hurt, "he said.

Steward is really disaspointed and hurt beut hey he should have packed his bags and goten a ticket when Cotto asked him too.
The problem with your logic here is that not once did Pac take a step backwards against Cotto. Cotto was the one doing the moonwalk and was practically begging for the fight to be stopped whereas in the Pac-Marg fight, Pacquiao was backing up and using lateral movement meaning he was more hurt.
Pac's face might've been messed up but he was never hurt vs Cotto hence the walking Cotto down. He WAS hurt vs. Marg hence the circling in the later rounds.

Marg's chin is the best in boxing, period. Manny was no more or less hurt against Marg than he was against Cotto. The difference is their style it doesn't have sh*t to do with their power. Margarito only threw 25 or so punches in the last three rounds of that fight. A guy who normally throws 75-100 down that low means he was DONE. Manny wasn't afraid of Marg he was tired, Margarito is a hard fight he was also 20 pounds heavier and 4 or 5 inches taller than Manny. You're going to tell me that Manny is going to be "walking him down?"
Manny was far more sore after the Margarito fight. He spent at least a day or two in the fetal position on his bed. He could barely move at the post-fight press conference. Margarito goes hard to the body and he did in that fight. Manny has himself just said recently that Margarito "hit hard".
However, Ariza did note that Manny was at his peak condition vs Cotto whereas he took the training fairly lightly against Margarito. Ariza even threatened to quit after the fight because Manny was following the training regiment as he should have been and it was going to cause a serious problem.
Anyway, just a thought.
A big part of the fact that Paq took more punishment is that Cotto skated backwards from round four on vs Paq, whereas Marg stood his ground and kept throwing back, just like anyone familiar with Marg's history knew he would.
You also have to consider styles and circumstances if your gonna bring in other fighters. Its irrelevent when you consider that they don't have Mosley's chin, Clottey's high guard or Pacquiao's head movement.
Just look at the Cotto-Marg fight for the answer to who has more power is obvious.
Does Cotto have the power to hurt Marg? No. Not based on the first fight.
Does Marg have the power to hurt Cotto? You bet your ass he does.
Still is interesting to me how Cotto had never been broken down like that before Margo, and Margo was caught with loaded gloves in his very next fight.
Too bad they couldnt have worked that out, Lee and Cotto might have even done some sparring with each other, Lee might be the kind of sparring Cotto needs to get ready for Margo.
Lee seems like more of a boxer,I don't know if ya want to use him to simulate Marga's...
I agree with the point of Lee being more a boxer than Marg, just was thinking that he could get Cotto used to dealing with the height and reach.
To be completely square, Margarito had bricks in his gloves when he fought Cotto.
Not so when he fought Mosley and Pacquiao.
I say Cotto hits harder when Marg's doesn't have plaster wraps.
Link that he had brick or gtfo
I could say the same about Cotto loading up for that fight but it would be bullsh*t without proof. Look at the pic I posted of Marg with his gloves off and tell me where the bricks are
If Cotto was such a priority Steward would've treated it as such and put back other plans to make sure he got the training camp he wanted. Like Roach does with Pac, and I'm sure Steward would do with Wlad. Cotto at the end of the day is the guy getting in the ring and risking his life, he deserves a trainer that will give 100% of his time and attention when he needs it.
Steward is 100% wrong when he said that Cotto has more power than Marg. Marg was taking Cottos best shots like they were nothing.
Shane Mosley
Joshua Clottey

Pacquiao face after Cotto
Compare that to pacquiao after Margarito fight.
There is no doubt Cotto hits harder.

I say Cotto hits harder when Marg's doesn't have plaster wraps.
Anyone can hurt anyone to the body if they land it on the right place and get the opening to do so. That means nothing since Pacquiao faced look like crap after Cotto compare to his fight against Margarito.

Steward is opening and telling it like it is. Very honest about his emotions.
I believe Cotto has made a mistake here, just like when he picked his trainer for the Pacquiao fight. Some journalists have also pointed out that 'the Cotto people' are kinda cheap and so finances factored into the equation. Steward himself mentioned something of the sort in another article. I think the number was 50, 000.
Margarito will be a tough fight for Cotto. The outcome really depends on Cotto's power, Margarito's chin, and who has the left in the tank.
Cotto would have to hit himself to answer that question dumbass:lol1:
Have you ever boxed before? You can tell how hard you hit someone compared to the power that you are hit with.

Interesting than how you left out Pacquiao who was seriously injured for the first time in years against Margarito and was not once hurt by Cotto

WTF? that got nothing to do with this that got everything to do with their chins.
But hey believe with you want the facts are there for you too see coming from the guys who faced both of them. I am not making **** up or expeculating I bring facts from those who can actually give their opinion.
How does cotto not having the power to hurt Marg in the first fight "all about their chins?" Its more about Cotto's power than Margs chin
