you cannot be serious dude, cotto would destroy that fool....
I don't know about Cotto destroying Hatton,he might win but he is not leaps ahead of Hatton..I would have bet on Hatton head they met prime for prime..Hatton was just a grity bastard had to love him,I don't know why he get's so much hate on this forum..
ATG? Probably. But i still feel like he needs to close his career with some good wins from his long absence. Probably one of the most talented in boxing today, his timing is just crazy, i like his fights(though his last one was a biter win). Hope he stays active for the rest of the good fights that are left for him.
its a great streak one that he gets no credit for, and that includes his opponent listing but he MUST FIGHT and most importantly defeat pacquiao in order for the public to see it almost as greatly as he already does.
This is a must, if fights manny a loss for floyd because of pac may get him more respect than his resume already does believe it or not..
you hit it on the spot very well.....
respect....
that is what is missing on floyd's resume....
so many people ignore floyd's very good accomplishments...
for they are not in a position to see much as their eyes are focused on who of the great fighters are still not in floyd's list of vanquished opponents....
so many other fighters are undefeated,,,but not even in the hof list
Undefeated records mean nothing except for promotional purposes. It's who you beat that counts. I'd rather see a fighter push himself to the limit than see him go through his career relatively unchallenged.

If Legacies and greatness were determined by an unbeaten record then Marciano, Calzaghe and Ottke would be the top 3 greatest fighters of all time. Floyd has pretty much trod water for the peak years of his career and he could have done so much more.
He is an ATG fighter, no doubt about that for me, but he simply hasnt fought the very best fighters around at the zenith of his career, in fact he has actually avoided them. Its only my opinion, but I reckon people will always take that into account when evaluating his standing 20-30 years from now, and the 'reasons' he gave for not fighting the likes of Cotto, Margarito,Pacquiao etc. will look pretty bad.
Its quite frustrating as a boxing fan because I would have made him favourite to have beaten all his contemparies, just going purely off his attributes against theirs. The only guy I see giving him a really hard time is Pacquiao, but I would still bet on Floyd winning that on points.
A great fighter he is, but could have achieved so much more if his hunger for glory was even half his hunger for money.
You just Mike Haynes'd this thread.
Great fghter but not an all time great. Welters who would have beaten him
Roberto Duran, Ray Leonard,Tommy Hearns, Pernell Whitaker Manny Pacquiao Ray Robinson , Wilfred Benetiez
Jr Welters who would have beaten him, Arron Pryor, Julio Cesar Chavez Alexis Arguello, Pernell Whitaker, Manny Pacquiao
Light wieghts who would have beaten him Ray Mancini, Alexis Argulleo,Roberto Duran, Julio Cesar Chavez,Manny Pacquiao Jose Luis Castillo beat him
Jr Light wieghts who would have beaten him Alexis Arguello, Julio Cesar Chavez Manny Pacquiao
WOW. Im used to seeing on this forum ppl giving Floyd way too many fantasy victories....didnt think I'd see all the loses.
I can almost see where Mayweather is coming from because if he were to lose he would drop considerably in all-time great consideration.

IMO IMO Cotto resume better than Corrales....
Judah, Mosley, and Clottey not saying clottey is this all time great win for Cotto, but Cotto beat clottey which Corrales lost to...
we could go deeper into all fights but just career highlights in resume comparison...
True..... Thats cool. I see your pov even though that was Corrales first fight at the weight he did take a L
If, after 12 brutal rounds ,after making M. Pacquiao miss, and hitting him with clean blows while circling around him until total exhaustion, floyd finds the heart to fight back in the 12'th(Remember sugar ray?) i'd say it doesnt event matter if he loses or not in a potential match,he is an ATG . Here is the catch: what if, just suppose, he cruises for 12 rounds (In the manner of Roy Jones in his 3'rd fight with tarver) ,scared, and in DEFCON 1 , while getting hit with hard shots. What if he loses by UD(himself, he wouldn't even admit he lost)? Where does it take him,? What if the judges wouldve given the fight to DeLaHoya(it was a split decision) he would have no 0, but would still be a very talented fighter. Its his marketing catch, as he claims to be invincible.
What do you even mean by "if the judges had given it to de la hoya" did you actually watch that fight?you know the one where floyd clearly wins 8 ROUNDS....
To me he sounded like hes bunching Cotto MAB and Erik Morales together and putting Diego under that. Guess i misunderstood. All is well :boxing: To me strictly off of resumes not styles or talent MAB Erik Morales > Diego Corrales > Cotto. What ya think?

he never said that cotto was on the elite level that MAB and Morales are, i don't think so either.... he said "hell.... even cotto" that tells you right there he wasn't mentioning in the same terms.
don't twist things to try and prove your point bruh...

I agree somewhat that he will be more remembered for his dickhead persona than for his accomplishments in the ring, which is sad but he in part brought that upon himself. On the other hand if he chooses to fight Pacquiao and beats him convincingly I think he'll take a lot of wind out of the argument that he's avoided tough competition. Manny is 10 times the fighter that Cotto and Margarito will ever be and a win against him would do wonders for Floyd in ATG status discussions. He really just needs to fight Manny at this point and his legacy as one of the best to lace up the gloves is sealed.
The people who do this do so because its the only way they can hate. Somehow a man who has fought 20 champions or future champions somehow has poor competition. Every HOF fighter manny fought at ww floyd fought 1st. SOmehow, cotto, marg, and clottey get overrated by haters because floyd didn't fight them.
Thats the same idiotic mentality shared by the manny ducked zahir raheem crowd.

ARe Margarito and Cotto HOF fighters? Cotto maybe, Marg no way. Manny is just as responsible for the fight not happening. How does beating Margarito enhance floyd's legacy? Is it any different than beating Baldomir?

FMJ says his undefeated record is his legacy. If he loses would you consider him ATG? | BoxingScene Community
