As terrific a boxer Nonito is. I don't think his pot-shottin' power shots will be enough for bigger bullheaded fighters like Salido and even Juanma, sh*t ain't gonna faze 'em. It might get their attention, but, I think they'll be able to shake it off and keep on movin' forward.
I think Salido at 126 would terrorize him. Gamboa's speed, strength and power will be too much(but, I don't think this fight will happen anyway).
Nonito would have to do more than rely on his single monster left hook to deter those guys from pressin' him. What do y'all think.
The days of KO'ing guys with one punch are over once Nonito steps up in weight against talented heavier fighters.
Donaire moving up to fight the top featherweights
=
Pacquiao moving up to fight the top welterweights
Donaire vs. Montiel = Pacquiao vs. Hatton
Donaire vs. Salido = Pacquiao vs. Margarito
Donaire vs. Lopez = Pacquiao vs. Cotto
Donaire vs. Gamboa = Pacquiao vs. Mayweather (?)
Some interesting similarities I notice with the top 2 filipinos in the sport.
Can you imagine, Donaire vs. Rafael Marquez @ bantamweight?
Kinda reminds me of Pac/JMM III @ catchweight "semi"-welterweight.

Juanma doesn't even have a chin dude. So how can you say this.
I think Donaire knows what he's great at. But, I just don't think Donaire will have the luxury to just pick his spots and 1 punch KO Salido.
Salido will find a way to get into Donaire's mug, not just 1 round or 1 moment the entire fight. Salido will get into Donaire's grill every single round, maybe not the entire time, but, he'll get there more often than you think. Donaire is gonna have to fight his @ss off to keep Salido off of him.
i never once said salido would be easy if nonito boxes....but im sayin is that he should'nt look for exchanges vs him just like when he fought concepcion...and yes nonito needs to fight his ass off, but what he does not need is look for exchanges...
that was not the case with concepcion.....he staywed away and boxed...salido is way stronegr and bigger than concepcion....so the smart thing to do there is to not look for exchanges esp since donaire has not been hit by these guys....I think Donaire knows what he's great at. Juanma has some of the worst defense I've ever seen from an "elite" fighter. IF, and this is a big IF, Donaire can handle going up in weight without losing speed/power, I see no reason why he wouldn't eventually catch/hurt/KO Juanma.
Gamboa is a different story though
While I don't disagree. You have to also remember that Juanma is more reserved than Gamboa is. Last night's fight showed how Nonito works against a reserved fighter. Juanma isn't a defensive genius but at the same time he doesn't go straight for the knockout like Gamboa does.
I feel that if Nonito carries up his speed and power. Seeing how he weighed 130 in ring. I'd be surprised if he didn't. I can see Gamboa being done like Darchinyan and Montiel.
Unless of course Gamboa suddenly stops fighting his natural way of fighting.
Nonito will get into exchanges with Salido, not because he's trying to please the fans, it's because he's in a fight and sometimes exchanges are required. Don't get me wrong, I think Nonito's bread n' butter will be his movement and counter-punching, but, against a tough, world-class guy like Salido, exchanges are inevitable.

you dont know that, he is a proud cat...nonito is going the pac route always trying to please that fans that is why garcia was trying to calm him down to not get fancy but yet , he did admit himslef he was trying get hit to find openings ,.. tryin to look good vs salido is a nono to me...Nonito will get into exchanges with Salido, not because he's trying to please the fans, it's because he's in a fight and sometimes exchanges are required.

I agree.
If Donaire could retain his speed and power with a move up in weight, he would spark Juanma.
Juanma has resorted to slugging his past few fights because he has fell in love with his power and as a result his defence is awful, he leaves his chin out in the open and even his punching technique has got worse.
He needs to get back to boxing his opponents to start having the success he had earlier in his career.
Dude, Nonito I think will have to get into exchanges. I don't think he can just pot-shot his way through a UD against Salido.
I don't think getting into exchanges with Salido is a bad thing. Sure, it gives more opportunities to the opponent, but, that's boxing.

....
Donaire will get some more power himself as he goes up in weight if he trains right...
i do think salido could really give nonito hell but it would depend on how nonito would apporach the fight vs him......
i could see salido being a bigger stronger version of torito concepcion and pressuring the sh1t out of him.....if nonito finds to look good in exchages , he gets beaten up...
if he boxes, sacrificing looking good, he wins by UD...Dude, Nonito I think will have to get into exchanges. I don't think he can just pot-shot his way through a UD against Salido.

Did you not watch the fight last night?
Juanma will be doing that a lot. He doesn't go all crazy on offense. He's technical and when someone goes technical against Nonito. The fight slows down. Will he stay in guard all fight? No but nonito isn't going to just walk through Juanma. For the fact that Juanma doesn't jump in crazy.
Gamboa is another story. He is fast and powerful but he tends to get reckless. I don't care what he did in his last 2 fights. That isn't his style. If you think Gamboa's style is what he showed in his last 2 fights. You obviously haven't been watching him for long. Gamboa blitzes opponents and that is a no no against Nonito.
I think Nonito could beat both. Specially if he carries up his speed and power. Which I think he will as his fight night weight is 130 for a 118 fight. Nonito will simply have more problems with someone who is reserved(Juanma). Rather than a person who will rush in on him(Gamboa). But he beats both in my opinion.I agree, wild punchers and lungers are Nonito's main snacks. At the same time, it is these type of fighters that give the technical fighters problems.
I might agree with you 100% if we're talkin' about someone like Mayorga. But, Gamboa ain't no Ricardo. As great a timing Nonito has, the kind of speed that Gamboa brings to the table is not that easy to time.
I'll stand by my picks, Salido, Juanma and Gamboa over Nonito.
