Given Linare's style and talent, do you think Roach is a good fit for Linares?
Watching that fight again I really think Linares would be better off training with Nacho.
Anyone agree here?
Freddie Roach had nothing to do with Linares' loss.
Roach pretty much told him to trade shots with Demarco after having won 8 out of 10 rounds. He did what he was told alright.
Linares needs to learn how to clinch. Don't know how great he will be but he puts on a show.
Roach had everything to do with this loss.
Freddie Roach had nothing to do with Linares' loss. Linares lost because he lost concentration and lacked discipline in a few key moments in the fight.
Linares was outclassing Demarco and was winning comfortably on every score card but he got into a short tear up in the sixth which led to the cuts, when there was no reason whatsoever to do so. And then he made the same mistake in a few other moments which led to the cuts getting worse.
He was trying to be macho and paid the price when he could have easily won with his boxing ability.
that's what i thought. linares was putting on a great performance. he got into an unnecessary firefight and got unlucky. linares had that fight in the bag.

hit the button squarely...
would like to see a rematch, though

This right here ^
Plus if anyone has seen Linares' fight before DeMarco, they would know his conditioning sucked major there. Here he looked really really good, just made a stupid mistake.

this right here!! its the fighter's job to execute what the trainer have planned for him. It doesnt matter how good of a trainer u have, if u cant execute the game plan it wont do u any good.

Roach works well with Punchers ,not really with boxers. Nacho would be good for Linares. All Linares needed to beat Demarco was to learn to clinch and not trade. Boxers arent usually built like that to trade with punchers or brawlers.
Same shit happened to Andy Lee vs Brian Vera, Lee wanted to sit down and trade and got stopped but look what happened in the rematch when he didnt TRADE or EXCHANGE punches. He won. Same will happen if Linares get a rematch, if he doesnt trade and sticks to boxing then he wins.
Don't think so
Linares looks like he's trying to be slick
roach best items like to fight it out at mid-range
Linares was not trying to be slick during that fateful round. He was trading instead of boxing.
