First off that wasn't a foul by Dawson. Hopkins missed with a right hand and was coming to Chad while Dawson was ducking. Dawson of course lifted him up, as he would getting back up, and simply threw him down. It wasn't a hard take down, that happens all the time in boxing (See Mayweather vs Genaro Hernandez, see Cotto vs Clottey).
Hopkins kept Dawson at a proper distance, he stayed away from Dawson's jab and trying to force Dawson to use his left hand more, kind of like what Pascal did. But Hopkins wasn't controlling the pace as some people think, because he didn't land anything at all in the second round, neither did Chad. The first round could have went either way, I gave the first round to Chad because he did more damage with his left hand. IMO if the fight continued I think Chad would have picked up the pace and scored a decision, of course my prediction doesn't matter because it becomes a "what if the fight continued".
my 3 cents:
hopkins has a shoulder problem on his medical history.
both his feet got lifted off the ground so it was hard to control the landing and when he landed his left arm got in contact first absorbing the impact of the fall and got rotated after.
the mri results taken after the match did reveal a true injury.
Big Hopkins fan here, neutral on Bad Chad, but what happened is not Chad's fault in the slightest. If i was fighting & someone leaned on me like that, I'd throw him off too. The problem I had was after the fight Chad scoffed at the rematch. But the decision will be reveresed & the rematch will happen anyway. I simply don't understand why Chad thought he won. He didn't land a punch & that obviously wasn't a tko.
This is pretty much how I feel. I don't knock Dawson for it. He was just ducking a right hand, and shrugged Hopkins off of him.
A lot of posters here are looking at this issue as if it were black-and-white. They're either saying Hopkins was a ***** or that Dawson threw him down with the utmost malice.
Man, c'mon! Any person would've probably standed upright as soon as the right hand passed, Hopkins just happened to be on top of Chad and got lifted off his feet.
I disagree with the decision of a TKO and I believe it should be a NC. I don't think ANYBODY wanted this to happen. Not Hopkins, not Dawson, and certainly not the fans who paid with their hard-earned money...
i understand chad was not havin the leaning going on but he literally grab b-hos leggs and tried to scoop him like a fight in the streets...when u scoop somebody then stomp him out....it should of been a no contest or he should of went to the cards...bad tko call on a scoop slam
Hopkins was exaggerating the pain, he could have continued, but he showed indication that he didn't want to.
dam boxing

schaeffer and shaw both said there will be no rematch.if soimeone quits that is a tko and thats what happened in the fight. some people here seem to have more of a problem with how things played out than goldenboy does
What Cotto did to Clottey damn sho was a foul and what Dawson did to Hopkins was a foul, the decision will be reversed, never knew you could TKO someone by slamming them to the canvas in boxing

Its not a foul to lift somebody up and throw them down? Are you talking about in a boxing match or UFC?
it's not a foul to break a clinch, it is a foul to clinch though, what is this ufc?
