I want to make a poll but don't know how. There are lots of options, who do you think he should fight and who do you think is most likely? I heard negotiations with Mccloskey aren't going well, personally im glad I dont wanna see him fight that bum.
Humberto Soto?
Paul Mccloskey?
Lucas Matthysse?
Timothy Bradley? (No way it'll happen though)
Erik Morales II?
Andre Berto?
Winner of Alvardo vs Prescott?
His mandatory. If he doesn't he gets his shiit stripped.
So he needs to man up and fight his mandatory.
His mandatory IS Soto. :lol1:

2nd time that happened...........:439:
Thought your post said mccloskey was the mandatory, didn't think that could be right but you never know with these belts.
Soto is my choice either way. Normally all for mandatories but what is the title really worth if mccloskey was the mandatory
Soto........if not him LM.
Even though I have no interest in mccloskey, a mandatory is understandable and maybe expected.

Paul McCloskey has earned his shot against the Argentinian and is the fight I would like to see materialize next. I want for Maidana to show improvements through new trainer Rudy Pérez before moving on to the more known fighters.
Do not get me wrong; a fight with Soto, Guerrero, Bradley, Morales, Alexander or Berto are all better choices as Marcos' crude style (along with his tendency to be vulnerable) make for exciting match ups. But a better career choice for him I believe is a fight against McCloskey...but that's just me.
edit: I was under the impression that Paul McCloskey was the mandatory for Maidana's WBA title. If in fact it is Humberto Soto, that on its own is a match I would love to see.
After he fights McCloskey, I would love a showdown with Brandon Rios or Matthysse. Maidana is 3-0-1 against Lucas, but I want them to fight under the bright lights.

I always wanted to see him fight Bradley, but I doubt Maidana wants any..So Prescott Matts or Soto all sound good to me..Why no mention of R.G.The Ghost??
I know both are from Argentina, but have Maidana and Matthysse talked about fighting each other ever?
**I'm also still bummed out that Maidana chose not to fight Morales on the Mayweather-Ortiz undercard. A chance to pick up an alphabet belt would have upped his stock quite a bit
Maidana could fight Matthysse next. Matthysse is argubaly unbeaten, had two close losses to Judah and Alexander, and is in his prime. Morales...he showed against Cano that he is DONE. That was a miracle performance in a loss to Maidana earlier this year.
140 is going to thin out big time in the next year. The WBA, IBF, WBO will all most likely be vacant, once Amir Khan and Timothy Bradley move up. Also, Devon Alexander is moving up in weight as well.
The only names that may remain at 140 are Marcos Maidana, Lucas Matthysse, Bredis Prescott, Mike Alvarado, Paul Mccloskey, Lamont Peterson, Zab Judah, and Victor Cayo. Robert Guerrero is a good fighter in his prime, and he will probably move up next year.
Here's what I'd like to see at 140.
After Khan beats Peterson and moves up, vacate the WBA and IBF. Bradley will move up and fight Pac. Have Bradley vacate the WBO title.
Next Spring, Maidana could fight Matthysse for the vacant WBA title. Have the winner of Prescott-Alvarado fight Mccloskey, and who ever comes out of that could fight Morales, so someone legit and still decent can have the WBC title. Have Guerrero come back next summer and fight maybe a Victor Cayo or Zab Judah, maybe for the vacant IBF title.
Than, we'd have the Maidana-Matthysse winner as the WBA champ, Robert Guerrero as the IBF champ, and either McCloskey-Alvarado-Prescott as the WBC champ.
By late next year/early 2013, Vargas and Benavidez will be ready to step up and two new names would appear at 140. By early 2013, Brandon Rios may also be a name at 140 as well.
Also, you can't knock Maidana for not fighting someone good last time out. He was ready to fight Guerrero, who is a good fighter in his prime, but Guerrero got injured.
Maidana should have accepted the fight against Morales on the Mayweather undercard though, that was a mistake. He would have killed Morales, who looked terrible in that fight, and it would have redeemed his name a bit after his loss to Khan and his horrid outing against Morales earlier this year.
I would like to see someone relevant.
As his status has risen, he has started taking an easier path. I would like to see him in a real 50/50. Matthysse would be good if he is fit to fight, morales again, bradley, devon, any of those guys, I would not really want him to fight McCloskey, but wouldn't knock him if he did, as McCloskey has put himself in a mandatory spot, even if most people had Prescott winning.
In my opinion Maidana's a paper champion anyway, it is a BS belt. He is a worthy world champion, but I hate seeing it happen that way.
I would prefer Morales, Bradley, Matthysse or Guerrero, but most likely it will be McCloskey.
Also about Berto, Maidana said on twitter:
@loudibella @AndreBerto Thanks. 1 year ago I was not nearly 147lbs. And I never ever mentioned berto in my life
