The early career version of Floyd (1998-2011) at Super Featherweight, many people say he was the best at 130 ever.
Would anyone have beaten Floyd (98-01) at Super Featherweight, or is he the best we ever saw at 130 lbs???
I give Chavez a better chance than I do Arguello, due to his intelligent pressure and wonderful ring cutting skills.
Camacho is a very live underdog. Nelson is a live dog as well.
Chavez is the only one of these I'd make a favorite over Mayweather. I think Floyd has a better chance at 140, and then 130, than at 135 against Chavez.
JCC was amazing against El Chapo, I think he peaked that night.
Well, wouldn't Floyd be even more slower at 154? You say Floyd beats Pac at 130/135, but 50/50 at 140-147 because of Floyd slowing down, then Floyd beats Pac at 154? Wouldn't Floyd be even slower? (Floyd looked the slowest he's ever been when he fought DLH)
Floyd also didn't truly fight at 154, he weighed in at 150 versus DLH for their 154lbs fight, and weighed 148lbs (same as Pac did on the night he fought Marg) during the fight.
If Pac/Floyd happened at 154, we all know Pac wouldn't weigh in near 154 anyways. More like 144-148, Floyd maybe 147-150. They're not that different in weight at this point.
As for the OP, I'd give Duran and Chavez a shot at beating Floyd at 130. If Castillo gave Mayweather hell at 135, I don't see how Duran/Chavez wouldn't do any better at 130.
Good points, and at least an objective post from a person with some knowledge. Floyd would probably weigh 150, and Pac would weight like 148 orso. So, it'd really be more like a 150 CW fight I guess.
You may be the biggest Floyd hater on this site. Manny arguably lost to Marquez at 130, who was about 2-3 years removed from his prime but still good...I think Floyd would UD Pac at 130 and 135. Pac would have good shot at 140 and 147 (it would be 50/50), because Floyd has lost a bit of his speed as he's gone up in weight, it's only natural. At 154, not 150, Floyd would beat Pac in a close fight, as Pac has never truly fought at 154 before.

Azumah Nelson, Alexis Arguello (Don't favor Arguello's chances but he always stands a chance), Salvador Sanchez, Sandy Saddler (At least in his time where he could get away with his style), Julio Cesar Chavez, Willie Pep etc
Too many great boxers at 130 to say he definitely beats them all, no one is unbeatable. He's at least even odds with them all though.
Yeah...Clottey in 10', Margarito in 10', Mosley in 11', and Marquez in 11' are the best fights available!!!!
You just NEVER give Mayweather credit. He beat the best at 130 and 135 no doubt, but no one talks about Floyd's career below 140, yet they always bring it up with Manny.
How many of Manny's big career fights were against guys in their prime or latter prime, or that weren't coming off losses?????? Barrera in 2003, which he won. Marquez in 2004, which was a draw. Morales 1 in 2005, which he lost (oh and Morales was coming off a loss to Barrera). Solis in 2007, which he won. Marquez in 2008, which he won. Diaz in 2008, which he won.
How many of his big career fights were against guys that were coming off losses, or guys that were considered not in their prime anymore??? Morales 2 in 2006 (Morales was just beaten by Raheem when Pac beat him). Morales 3 in 2006. Barrera 2 in 2007 (Barrera had just lost to Marquez and was past his prime clearly). De La Hoya in 2008, Hatton in 2009, Cotto in 2009, Clottey in 2010, Margarito in 2010, Mosley in 2011, and now Marquez in 2011 (I think we can all agree Marquez isn't even as good as he was in 08-09, let alone his prime.
You can say Floyd avoided Margarito and Cotto, in 06 and 08, but your boy Manny didn't fight Mosley in 09-10, Berto in 10', or Ortiz in 11'. Wouldn't that be considered avoiding the best available at the time???
Manny hasn't done s**t since Cotto and Hatton in 2009, and how much stock can you pile into those wins??? Prior to fighting Manny, Hatton was KO'd by Mayweather (widely regarded as the last time Hatton was considered "prime"), fought a tough decision and looked awful against Lazcano, and let Paulie Maliganggi hang in the fight with him. Prior to fighting Manny, Cotto was KO'd by Margarito (widely regarded as the last time Cotto was in his "prime" or peak self), beat a nobody in Jennings to win the WBO title (how in the hell was that a title fight?), and arguably lost a close decision to a apst prime Clottey.
Clottey, Margarito, Mosley, and Marquez at 144 are terrible picks. Clottey hadn't won a fight in 2 years, Margarito had just been KO'd by Mosley, Mosley had just dropped a wide UD to Floyd and fought a terrible draw with Mora, and Marquez already dropped a wide UD to Floyd at 144 over 2 years ago. At least Marquez is coming off wins, I will give you that, but he's widely considered not even close to what he was in 2008-2009, let alone what he was in his prime.
De La Hoya at 147 in 2008...need i say more??? Again I am just picking the high profile fights Manny had. Oscar was already beaten by Floyd, at 154, and hadn't even been at WW in 7-8 years. That was god awful.
Diaz in 2008, that was a good pick. Diaz was coming off wins, was a champ, and was past his prime-but still good. I give him credit for that one.
Manny overtook Mayweather in many people's eyes with his wins over Hatton and Cotto...but again...given the fighters going into those fights, how much stock can you put into thise wins??? NO ONE in their right mind was putting Pac above Floyd prior to 2009, you can't argue that. So, what has he really done in 2009-2011 to go leaps and bounds ahead of Floyd???
co-sign...thank you for telling this idiot how it is. when he said manny doesn't pick easy opponents i nearly crapped myself. not to say floyd hasn't been guilty of the same thing, but to say manny hasn't done this is just ridiculous
I'm no hater, I'm a realist.
Because Manny doesn't pick easy opponents like Floyd. Manny fights everyone and when you fight everyone you are bound to have wars.
Good points. I think at 140-147 it would be 80/20 in Pacquiaos favor and at 154 75/25 in Pacquiaos favor so it would be closer and Floyd would have a slight better chance I agree.

You see that is the version of Floyd I respect. He could've had a slight chance of lasting an entire fight with Pacquiao. But that is the Floyd that I respected, the manly version, the one who had testicles.
