I mean I think if you trace back any title sooner or later someone has fought for that title when it was Vacant. So the question then becomes whats the requirement to make it lineal? unification?
I mean we hear the Lineal title thrown out there so much, but I really would like to know what makes that title so unique?
In my opinion:
1) Unify all 4 titles in the division (rarely happens).
2) Ring Magazine's 1 and 2 ranked fighters face each other. The winner becomes lineal champion.
Neither Margarito nor Shane ever became lineal.... thats the truth. I am just exposing truths here you can still keep lying to yourself its okay I aint mad at ya.

Why do you ask a question if you for yourselve already know the answer and if somebody tells you different is wrong anyway... because your opinion is the only one that counts???
And why do you ain't ask from the get go how many lineal titles Mayweather has? What has he done to you? Do you ask him to spar with your son and he beat him up or declined? Has he done something to your family? I still try to figure out what he has to you that you are so hurt and angry about him?
I mean the Pacquiao fans post this stuff to minimize him and think this makes Pacquiao bigger... but you stated you are a fan of the sport? So what is your agenda? Your trying to prove that one of the greatest fighters of his time isn't any good? I don't get what you are trying to accomplish?
he considered a 2 time lineal champ at 147.(see baldo and shane)
Exactly. I guess some folks aren't going to agree with that. Even an article, endorsed by this website claims Floyd is a 2 time lineal Welterweight Champion. I can't post the link until I have 15 posts. Still interested to know how someone could think he was lineal at 154.

Shane was not lineal because Margarito was not lineal, and you all state that Margarito cheated his entire career, so basicly that means shane beat a guy who should not have even held a title
Shane was not lineal, Floyd has only won three of them total and one is still in question im researching that as we speak:fu2:
Mosley as never lineal, get out of here with that, Sure he beat Margarito who Beat Cotto, but rewind the clock, Floyd retired what two three days before Cotto and Margarito fought?
Margarito didnt get the ring title neither..... when he beat Cotto... Floyd retired as champ cus he had beat Baldo.... I am sorry but it is what it is man..
ring title doesnt always coincide with lineage
Twice at welter? please do explain
he beat baldo for the lineal title..when he retired the lineage started again with Shane-Margo-so when he beat shane he was once again lineal champion
So again let me get this straight, that means the title that Floyd won from Oscar was NOT lineal..... Oscar was not considered the man at that time he beat Mayorga who was not considered the man has he won the Vacant WBC from Piccirillo in a box off for that vacant title.
So again why do we say that Floyds Jr Middleweight title is Lineal?
no 1 says floyd was lineal at 154...he was lineal at
130-hernendez win
135-castillo win
147-baldo and mosley win
154 wasnt lineal it was just a belt
By defeating Baldomir and Mosley.

He wond the lineal title from Baldo (joke as it was) and then some people claim he won it again when he beat Mosley. I personally don't believe Mosley was the lineal, but there has been argument that he won it against Margo (a #1 vs #3 fight). Mosley never was awarded the Ring belt.
Who said the Jr. Middleweight title was lineal? First time I've ever heard that.
He is a 4 time lineal champ in 3 weight divisions: Jr Lightweight, Lightweight and welterweight (twice)

your missing the point. The Lineal champ isnt really open to interpretation. It isnt another type of belt. It is: The man who beat the man, unless someone retires or moves up or down in weight and then its the #1 vs the #2 or sometimes the #3, or the title is vacant. Many Lineal titles are vacant because someone retired or moved up or down and then #1 still hasnt fought the #2 in the division or possibly the #3. Cleaning out a division or becoming unified doesnt necessarily make you the linear champ. Beating the man who was does.

1 beat the lineal champ
2 unify all the belts, doing so revives a broken lineage
3 by Ring standards, #1 beats #2 or sometimes #3 revives lineage
technically, Ring belts isn't always synchronized with the lineal title
but it's the best standard to go by tbh
