Ok, Im not talking like the over politeness of Mosley and Ortiz, Im talking about like a Pacquiao or Marquez Im sure there are many more...
I get if you dont cuz as it is its a violent sport...
But I believe its a good thing it gives a good image and its like an honor to be fair when unfair circumstances come...
THOUGHTS?
you can die in the ring but also you can kill in it. hitting someone (twice) who is totally unprepared for it is stupidly dangerous. only an idiot would do that.
only an idiot would not be prepared to be hit in a boxing match. Only an idiot would take his eyes off his opponent when time was in.
thats a double edged blade. if you dont take him out on an opening - you risk being hurt and taken out later. that could end your carrer and if you family depends on you winning would be a factor which pushed to to actions like that.
just my 2 cents
not to mean anything more than to illustrate good sportsmanship in boxing...
still fresh in my mind is what happened in the floyd vic fight that was ended by what some people call floyd's left-right combo - cheap shot to an easy victory...
if memory serves, during the last round of pac barrera II, marco lost his balance and was very widely open for pac to hit him at will - even before the ref butt in...
pac did not throw punches while marco was trying to regain his footing..
just a simple comparison...
on sportsmanship
I think there is the perception of ethics in boxing. Like, you can do whatever you want, just don't make it obvious.
Excellent. Short, sweet, to the point. Green K.
I agree for the most part.
I've seen enough boxing to expect the top level fighters to bend the rules and have their illegal tactics. But a case where a guy loads his gloves, or is just fighting so ridiculously dirty (see Gainer-Norwood or Pedroza-Laporte for instance), that's a different story.
Obviously, loading gloves is worse than Norwood and Pedroza in those fights though.
Totally agree. There's fighting dirty and then there's cheating. I take no issue with a guy slipping in the occasional (intentional) elbow while infighting, but a blatant elbow from across the ring is another matter. The line must be drawn somewhere. Loading gloves, biting, things of that nature, are past the mark; but stepping on feet, the occasional kidney punch or borderline low-blows are fair game, as long as the ref doesn't call them. Then again, no one likes to see a fighter who makes a habit of these tactics. I know I'm climbing a slippery slope by making these distinctions, but it is what it is. I think most long-time fans understand where I'm coming from.

Ethics??i believe in following the rules and fukk everything else....you can die in that ring..that is not the place to be trying to make friends, cause the other guy may not be so kind and you could get seriously hurt

This is a slippery question. In a combat sport like boxing, ethics can become blurred. My personal take on "dirty" fighting is that it has its limitations. Many ATGs have been known for "bending" the rules a little. For instance, guys like Duran, Monzon and Hopkins have been known to use their elbows during a fight. As far as I'm concerned, it's all good...until the ref calls you on it.
There are those (and I don't blame them) who think boxers should adhere strictly to the rules. Trouble is, a little dirtiness is a part of the history and tradition of boxing. I wouldn't condone a blatant shot to the nether-regions, or a spearing head-butt, however, some fringe tactics can be overlooked. Ultimately, it's a fight. It's the fighter's responsibility to win. It's the ref's responsibility to make sure the contestants follow the rules.
