My immediate thoughts on the abrupt and bizarre ending to Mayweather-Ortiz is that both fighters behaved unprofessionally and the manner in which the fight ended was bad for the sport. Ortiz blatantly fouled Mayweather (at a time when he was finally scoring some effective shots) and the 34-year-old veteran took advantage of the 24-year-old man-child’s excessive desire to apologize in the moment. What Ortiz did to Mayweather during their infighting was wrong, and Cortez rightfully penalized him a point for it. The manner in which Ortiz completely lost his focus, while literally trying to kiss and make up with Mayweather immediately after initiating the foul, was unprofessional. What Mayweather did in order to land two cheap shots was extremely unprofessional.
In my opinion, it was just a step above Mike Tyson’s ear biting incident in the first Evander Holyfield fight. Mayweather, being a better boxer and slightly less bipolar than Tyson was in 1996, retaliated in a manner that wouldn’t get him DQ’d. He saw an opportunity to get a quick ending, or an offensive advantage at the very least, and he took it. It was a mean-spirited, vicious (no pun intended) act, and unless you’re a big Mayweather fan or someone who can’t stand Ortiz, it was upsetting. It left you with an ugly feeling about the sport.

He is a known Floyd Hater - he basically picks everyone to beat him because in his own hate he gets so hyped up - he picked Mosley to beat him... he also said that all the talk with Ortiz's ppl and DLH really got him thinking that Ortiz could win...
He is a smart boxing man usually but when it comes to Mayweather it's the same like everyone else...
Why is somebody biting someone else's ear worse then hitting someone legal??? Still don't get it... Mayweather never took the second hugg... Ortiz hugged him and even their May had his hands up... and he waited... and then he threw - after the first hook Ortiz could have taken his hands up instead he looked after the referee and got the second hand... he checked out mentally... the headbutt was way worse then the legal shot from Floyd...
I mean seriously... Resto got punished for his wraps too and is it forgiven with that??? Only because Ortiz now wants to hug and kiss everything is good - he had it coming... and he not only tried once... he had it coming and I can not even say that I was one bit sad or anything... if I have a fighter in front of me who does something like that I finish him as quick as possible... if the fight continued and Floyd would have clocked him in the 5th who knows what would have happend... maybe he would have lost it completely and who knows what else he would have done...
Ortiz asked for it and he got it... Mayweather is a mean motherf***** in the ring... he means business... simple as that
Aside from one being legal and the other being illegal, the big difference to me is that Floyd was winning the fight and Tyson was losing. Tyson did it as an act of desperation, or possibly looking for a way out. In that respect, VICTOR'S headbutt is much more like Tyson's ear bite than Floyd's punches are. Victor and Tyson were both frustrated in a fight they were losing and resorted to doing something against the rules, either in an attempt to gain an edge or in an attempt to quit. Disappointed to hear Doug Fischer make this comparison.
Let's see, a legal but unsportsmanlike KO punch following an attempt by your opponent to flagrantly headbutt you ~VS~ biting a chunk of your opponent's ear off in retaliation for alleged headbutts against you. OK, I thought about it. Not even close. Not even in the same league. Poor comparison, but so what? The boxing beat goes on and Fischer is as I understand it the new Editor in Chief of Ring magazine and his critics are still just that, critics. Next...
dougie is usually on point, IMO.
but that quote is a bit much. although i see the angle he is spinning: a controversial event in boxing that makes mainstream media frown upon the sport.
i get it... but definitely ear-biting shouldnt be compared to a sucker punch. i feel everyone was to blame, not just floyd.
Doug Fisher is one of the worst writers in the history of the sport.
He will never give Mayweather credit, no matter what.
Comparing this to Mike Tyson biting someone?
Ridiculous.
Doug is 100% correct.
Floyd antics only appeal to his base of minimum wage blacks, who are too dumb and ignorant to understand anything.
Doug Fisher!!!!! I C U!!!!
look at his name he spelled it backwards! DAEHGORF!!!!! I C U YOU NOW!
I disagree. Still way below than trying to eat an opponent's ear.
Floyd cheated, how can you suckerpunch someone who was making an apology and even tried to make out with him while Tyson's motive might be due to frustration and hunger pangs..
am i reading it right? a step above not a step below lol...dougie's gonna get some mad loving from flomos with that:lol1:
when one is comparing bad actions...
the one above the other is better....
bcoz bad actions are measured on the negatives....
-1 is above -2...something like it..
so floy's 1-2 punches, per fischer, was not as bad as mike's ear biting....
When you think about Floyds motive is even worse. Tyson resorted to ear biting because he felt the ref didnt penalize Evander. Cortez did penalize Ortiz so did acknowledge the foul.
Floyd got protection but still tried to end the fight there and then. Tyson biting Holyfield ear wasnt done to beat Holyfield. It was to get himself DQ more than anything.
You got no idea you retard , what protection ya dumb fuk , Ortiz was looking right at him when he got hit with the first left hook , you poor retarded fuk dont even mention the head butts and you defend ear biting thats how full of sh!t you are , your still so full of sour grapes from Hatton being exposed that you cant hide your child minded ways .
