Hey guys,
I'm not really a big poster here, but I do check the boards often. I just felt that I should share something with you all that I see and was wondering if anyone else could relate.
This is for the heads that somewhat understand and compete in fighting games such as Tekken and Street Fighter (3rd strike specifically) . Does anyone else see the comparison to some of these high level matches and when Mayweather fights. I see so many of the same concepts and engagement principles, spacing techniques of some of these players that I see when Mayweather fights. Truly amazed at his skills. I'd wonder how well he'd do if he ever got into playing fighting games given enough time. They are doing the same exact things.
For all of you guys that know who he is, I'd like to say that Mayweather and Kuroda are one in the same. They are both on a level that not alot of people really understand yet.
OK i get you. but the simple truth is, even at a high level everyone has a plan until they get hit. videogames cannot simulate that, never. You don't feel what the character feels. You have no attachment.
well, in a game you'd be a hell of an idiot to not change your plan after getting caught with the same sht
your not making much of an arguement here, should've just stuck to the "games wont teach you how to fight" debacle
but then again im not even sure if you ever argued that, maybe you have been going on about the same "i go in with a gameplan but whne i get hit that goes out the window, in a game you dont do that, because you cant feel the hits"
maybe you're just misunderstanding me. i don't want to go on forever repeating myself. i never said that and that's not what i'm trying to prove. this has nothing to do with you or any fights you've been in. or learning how to fight in real life from a video game. i'm simply saying that mayweather mentally is on another level than many of his opponents and understands many situations more so than you or I. This type of thought can be compared to high level competitive play. That's it. That's all I'm trying to get across.

Ok i'm going to tell you a story. I just sparring with this guy this past weekend, last time we fought this dude has 3 years of boxing experience on me, I have 2. And i was a little nervous, i admit , but i had a gameplan of what i was going to do. We started sparring and the dude hit me hard, Hard hard! like i had a plan i knew what i was going to do, but that **** is out the window. games you don't get that, you see a life bar go down and then you have the next round. I lost for sure.
We just fought recently and i came in with a different attitude, same strategy. and I won. I was setting him up with **** that i knew i could have done the first time but i was running for a month every other day, hard! so i knew my legs where stronger and i could push the pace. i tired him a bit and he started to slow down. and then i started landing some real nice setup shots to the body and overhand right's good jabs high and low. making him think. the strategy is part and parcel, but what made the difference was where i was at, inside. Games will never get you that feeling and i have done both. I played in tournaments when i was younger in Toronto. i know what gaming is like, Boxing in reality is completely different. visually it looks the same i'll give you that you see distance and spacing BUT doing it and knowing what your doing in reality is completely separate from that game experience. you cannot play games to get good at fighting the strategy is not the same as in a real fight! ( and vice versa)
honestly try it bro. you'll learn so much save this post or add me as a friend and when you've been doing it for over a year and you have some sparring to draw upon. The sensation is completely different. that's my suggestion. I respect your opinion and agree with small parts of it but it's different still.
respect bro.

LOL.....just look at EVO and youll see SF is still the dominat fighter out there. Nothing comes close. As for it being button smashing....far from it, zoning, ticks, frames, hit boxes, ect.....far from it, and my cousin whos a tekken 4 freak, played me and i beat him like 3 out of 10. He whipped me, but i had no idea what i was doing. We play SSF2T.....he went 0 and like i dont know, at least a dozen before we stopped against my Geif.
if you beat your cousin just button mashing(thus trhowing only one-two's, normal lows, sht at random) and beat him, well what can i tell you, your not provin sht except that your cousin clearly sucks at tekken
and you obviously love street fighter(avatar, argument) so there is no point of this debate, no one will leave alleviated
i think you're misunderstanding what i'm saying man. everything you just said to me, i already know. i'm not even disagreeing with you. but what i'm also saying is that he has a general understanding and intelligence of many specific situations. he knows what to do and when to do it. how to approach an opponent at many different angles and the best attacks to use if they take his baits. maybe you're not familiar with competing at fighting games but this is very similar. how do you think he adjusts mid fight every single time and his opponents are somewhat fighting different than what they usually do? it's because he's broken them down mentally. if you've ever played in a tournament, this is the same thing.

No bro what you don't get is you control yourself to make your opponent do what you want to do that's what your not getting. your opponent is nothing, YOU on the other hand are EVERYTHING. Are you feeling me? Mayweather controls himself to be a certain way to get a certain result that's what your not understanding.
Trust me bro, Take up boxing. As soon as you start getting good at it, you will understand what I'm saying. Games can't emulate it. your playing a trick. you are not a trick. Trust me bro. you'll know when your doing it. I'm not hating I'm telling you the straight facts.

mayweather has even said this himself.
We're just playing man, and I'm sure the TS doesn't actually think real fights are like a fighting game (although Virtua Fighter is getting real close). Just that the strategies are similar.
I just found it funny that Dudley's telling us that SF is not real.
In SF, Dudley's my fav character. It's fun to use a boxer (classy one at that) to smash up Ryu/Akuma in the arcades. His move list is pretty complete as a boxer goes. Still haven't figured out how to throw a two-punch while Ryu tries to hug me though ;)
no one here is trying to compare the physical realm of an actual fight to a damn video game. you've completely missed my point. fatigue, health, getting punched in the face have nothing to do with what i'm talking about.
i'm speaking solely on the mental ability to understand any given situation and control your opponent. mayweather does this. what don't you get about that?

I feel what your saying bro. But it's a totally different feel. I used to and still rock games like SF 3rd strike. But i got into boxing and Capoeira 5 years ago (2 years capoeria 3 years boxing) and it is visually similar but totally different. When your sparring or in a Roda with someone. it's a completely different situation. Fatigue, health (as in how well you take care of yourself), speed (variations) power, feints. all completely change in the context of the situation. games are straight up canned animations, when you spar a guy who know how to throw his hips into a punch instead of just and arm punch to figure out range is completely different. i can't explain it to you if you've never done it. even intimidation plays a huge part in a sparring if you can make the other guy feel your ready for him they approach the situation differently.
Games though they are strategies are they are all canned situation reality is so much more dependent upon you and everything around you. your the controller and how you think and what shape you in and what you know is the game.
i seriously recommend it though 2nd best choice I made in my life, Salsa is the first.

tekken maybe, street fighter sucks you can never stay on the inside because when you hit(or attacks or blocked) you slide back a sht load
tekken is beast with teh jabs to get your opponent to open up only to then pull back to avoid the income and counter

we have a winner!
It is. until I tell you have been boxing for 3 years.

there is no possible way to button mash tekken and get anywhere
in street fighter there are about 10 moves, most of which are assigned to a single button, now that's button mashing
also you cant even sidestep in street fighter, it's a crap game and stupid to compare to real life
and for the guy saying the games are completely different to real life, i box
tekken is not so different, you set you sht up basically the same way, wait for your openings, after you're done with your combo, either have teh strategy of staying on the inside(it depends on the opponent) or dash back or sidestep
its not going to teach you to fight, obviously, but the train of thought is basically the same, esspecially if your playing against another good player who is just as fluent in his moves, it's about outsmarting people
not like gay ass street fighter and who can do the most combo's, gay ass 2d piece of sht, srry, i take that back in my opinion, it sucks, it's obviously good since it's so popular, just dont like it personally

you mad.
yea this is exactly what i'm talking about. alot of the ideas are identical. reading opponents. setting them up for baits. punishing missed attacks. etc etc.
The Dudley post was hilariously ironic.
Virtua Fighter is the ultimate fighting game series.
It is. until I tell you have been boxing for 3 years.
you mad.

naw bro. can't be mad.
your dumb!
terrible post.
your ****.ing ignorant and i can't express that enough. You think that tapping a few buttons equate to an actual match between to human beings. this is your post?
I have an honest suggestion buddy. seriously.
get off your ass, get some gloves and learn how to fight.
Games are NOTHING like real life.
I'm sorry but this is thee most ignorant post I have EVER read. Post this in arcade talk.
SF is a game Real life is real life!
you mad.
